I understand the change of design from a few years ago shape to the straighter/boxier fit. Which I am told by sales is to be gender encompassing. HOWEVER, this boxy fit does not work for everyone, just as the âshapelyâ fit didnât work for everyone. Why not use the boxy styles as a unisex line? Iâve been trying to purchase another jacket to replace my older cerium but no matter how many styles I try, sizes etc. I cannot move past the boxy shape. I sadly have concluded that Arcâteryx is just not for me anymore as a I cannot fit their clothes. Pleaseeee bring back the shapely fit again! I am sure Iâm not the only one!

I got this jacket for Christmas and in less than one month the zipper stopped working and a random hole appeared on the sleeve, causing feathers to seep out. I think there are two major issues with this jacket (especially compared to the Patagonia Down Jacket, which Iâve had for 8 years): 1. The fabric is so thin that itâs not durable. I donât see this jacket lasting long for anyone due to the thinness of the material. 2. The zipper is small and feels low quality. I found the zipper to be challenging to zip at times, and didnât have the durable feel that the Patagonia one has. I will be returning this and purchasing a new Patagonia Down Jacket instead. Definitely not high enough quality or durable enough for the high price point. This is a miss from Arcâteryx. I had to size up to a Medium in the Arcâteryx and still limited room for layers.

Just before winter, I began exploring options for a warmer jacket to pair alongside my Atom LT for when temps get colder. I narrowed it down to two options, the Cerium LT and the Thorium AR..Based on everything I read, the Cerium LT had plenty of great reviews, however mixed reviews when compared to the Thorium AR.The Thorium AR had better reviews based on warmth and was more robust, yet slightly heavier... while the Cerium LT was lightweight, cost more, and has a lighter face fabric causing it to be more prone to puncturing. In careful review, this all lead me to land on the Thorium AR...I chose the Thorium AR for the greater warmth, durability, and less cost. However, once I received it, I wasn't as instantly in love as I thought I would be.Although ... MoreJust before winter, I began exploring options for a warmer jacket to pair alongside my Atom LT for when temps get colder. It was enough to keep my mind wondering if I should have tried the Cerium LT.So I did.I decided to purchase the Cerium LT for comparison and once it arrived, I tried it on, and bam... THIS was IT.I instantly loved the fit and lightweight design that you really can't appreciate unless you try it on for yourself. Understanding that the face fabric is a finer denier, I know better than to be bushwhacking or wearing it standalone in activities that leave it prone to puncturing. Just play it smart when you're wearing it and keep in mind that it isn't bomb proof (or thorn proof) and you'll be ok.With that being said, over the last few months I've had the opportunity to test this jacket out on multiple occasions and it even works great with just a simple t-shirt on underneath, keeping me comfortable in the 20's (F) with little to no physical activity.Even though the Cerium LT isn't rated quite as warm as the Thorium AR, it's close enough and honestly just what I needed. I think (for me) the Thorium AR would have been overkill for where I live in southeastern, USA. Plus, having the ability to properly layer the Cerium LT leaves me with greater options for temperature control in different uses.I've had it now through the winter season and I'm completely satisfied with my decision to go with the Cerium LT and highly recommend taking it into consideration.

With one exception, I have loved my Cerium LT Hoody over the last four years. I have worn almost daily in the winter months and it has performed well as an outer shell for all conditions except wet snow and strong winds. Adding a waterproof shell took care of those weaknesses and I knew that I would have to do that before I purchased. What I am disappointed in is the main zipper. This started to fail last year and none of the zipper maintenance techniques I have used on other equipment has worked with this jacket's zipper. I have coats much older than this that the zipper's perform without problem. The defect is using a lightweight setup in the pursuit of the lightest equipment. I am going to take to an equipment repair shop, but I am almost certain that replacement ... MoreWith one exception, I have loved my Cerium LT Hoody over the last four years. I have read other reviews where the zipper has failed within the first two years so I will not be buying another Cerium LT.
I love this jacket. If most button down shirts are too tight in the shoulders, youâll also love this jacket. The sleeves are longer than most jackets which is a plus in my opinion. I do believe it is true to size. Iâm 5â6â between 140-150 lbs, athletic build and ordered a medium. The waist length fits just below my hip bones. I think itâs the perfect fit for a puffy jacket being fitted, but not too tight. I havenât worn this yet for winter activities, but itâs great to throw on quickly to walk the dog or stay warm. If you have a larger chest (bigger C or D cup), this jacket would be tight to zip up and I would suggest sizing up.
On the one hand, it is so light, warm, and minimalistic. On the other hand, it fits me very weirdly. I have to size up to a large because of the tight chest/shoulder, so there's a lot of excess material. It's not obvious in the front, but it bellows out in the back. It also makes layering a hassle. Most of my clothes are size medium so they don't go over this very well.My wife owns one, we got both my mother-in-law and dad-in-law one as well. They use them everywhere from an over-air-conditioned theater to hiking in Lake Louise. I am the only one with an athletic build.I eventually settle on a medium Agrium, which is great for city use because of the mute color and tougher fabric, but I really want a proper fitting Cerium LT in a bright color for alpinism. I come back every few years to see if the fit has changed and so far, no luck. One final thing, I noticed after buying so many of these that the down fill isn't very inconsistent across the four that we own. Two are very puffy, while two are very underfilled. Two jackets are very puffy while two feel very underfilled. Brought them across 6 years and they appear to be hit and miss.
I bought this as a gift for my dad for his birthday and he's only had the chance to wear it 3 times when going out for dinner with friends. The father started to come out from the outside and when reaching out to Arc'teryx, I was informed that there is a hole that was caused by someone. It does not meet their warranty. The jacket is less than a year old and has been worn 3 times. Only to be told by Arc'teryx that a product lifespan for the jacket does not meet their warranty. After going back and forth, I was sent stickers to patch up the tiny hole that is so small. I was able to increase the 40% discount being provided to 50%, only to go on the website to not have any products available. Plus the discount they offered has an expiry date of 2 weeks. For the price ... MoreI bought this as a gift for my dad for his birthday and he's only had the chance to wear it 3 times when going out for dinner with friends. It's a common issue I've seen on many reviews and makes me question as to why I should spend my money again for one of their products. They have nothing in stock and they did not warrant anything. So I feel like I took a huge L. I expected better after all of the recommendations I've heard about the company and their products. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm suppose to buy a jacket for myself with the discount when everything in a Large is sold out.
I like the Cerium LT; it is great as a midlayer. Snagged mine on a ski binding and a small tear opened up on the right arm. I wanted to submit the Cerium for repair to Arc'teryx, which I would gladly pay for. Customer service made me send lots of pictures, only to tell me to patch it with tenacious tape because they don't do repairs anymore. That's really disappointing, especially when Arc'teryx market their sustainability and environmental efforts. To me it would seem that by not providing repairs, Arc'teryx is not promoting promoting environmental sustainability.I am really disappointed and hope Arc'teryx corporate realise that some customers actually purchase this gear because it is supposed to last; it is not disposable junk. This jacket is mediocre at best, is it warm enough for Severe weather conditions on its own? No. Is it a durable piece of kit? No. Can it be improved? Absolutely. The outer layer of this jacket is so thin that anything can rip it open, a light touch from a branch or minor bush in the woods this jacket will rip easily. The inner layer is even thinner than the outer layer, so thin that feathers leak out with normal wear let alone stuffing it in its sack will make feathers poke out and leak more often than not. I test this against the thorium Ar in a -20 to -30 and the thorium kept me warmer which should be the opposite. I was expecting way more warmth from the cerium SV and yet that's not the case. If you wear this without a shell you will rip it open. When I got this ... MoreThis jacket is mediocre at best, is it warm enough for Severe weather conditions on its own? If you wear this without a shell you will rip it open. When I got this jacket it came with a different color hood rim, it came black instead of Orca White, don't know how or why it just did, unfortunately, when that was pointed out to me I had already worn the jacket for 2 days, so they refused to refund. Look if you looking for a lightweight jacket that won't last a year unless you babysit it all the time and with less warmth than the thorium Ar by all means this is your jacket yet don't expect it to last you long which is crazy due to the high price tag. I don't know how are these tested but this jacket disappoints. This is not made for Severe weather conditions like they make it seem, this jacket with a temperature below 0 will not keep you warm unless, of course, you carrying 50+ pounds of gear. Other than that it will not. The 10-mile wind gets through the thin layer this jacket has not let you warm up unless you throw a shell on it, so it can bearly perform on its own. If this jacket had the outer layer as thorium has it would definitely be a better piece of gear. I will not recommend it if you looking for durability and decent warmth. Don't let 1000-fill power numbers fool you. That only means they putting less down for basically the same or less warmth than its predecessor. However lightweight it is in that category is a 10 anywhere else mediocre at best.
I'm a large in most everything Arc'teryx, and this product fits true to size, appropriately snug for an efficient insulating layer. More of a piece to layer under a same-size Beta/Alpha or Gamma LT shell, not over like a belay parka, though it would fit well over a Squamish or other light softshell. It has good loft and a durable face fabric for a 1000-fill, head-and-shoulders above other high-fill down jackets. It's an exceptional down jacket and the best I've owned so far.The Phenom color is definitely more of an orange-lava than a harsh red. I liked the color for casual wear a lot more than I thought I would, though it's more a piece for alpine pursuits for me.Highly recommend. This is the best new jacket since the Nuclei SV, which I also highly recommend.
