I bought two units last year. They worked well until two months after starting to use mine.....it quit. It turns out it was the electric cord. We contacted Artic Air and they sent a whole new unit package. I just started using it. It lasted less that 3 minutes. The power cord is bad. My roommate has the other one I bought in 2021. Its still working. He plugs his cord into the two units I have that don't work and they both work fine. We called Artic Air today to see if they sold the cords. They do not sell parts for the units. The guy we talked to told us to go to Walmart and buy one. Exchange the power cords and then take the unit back to Walmart telling them it does not work and get out money back. That is DISHONEST!! I was not raised to do things ... MoreI bought two units last year. They worked well until two months after starting to use mine.....it quit. It turns out it was the electric cord. It works as advertised. Unlike a fan, it really only cools your personal space, so you need to be aware of that before you buy. On the other hand, its not really comparable to a fan since this device cools the air while a fan moves it around. You really need to think about what's best for you before you buy.The top lid and most of the device feels rather fragile. I am not sure if it's sturdy enough to survive being dropped on the floor so I'm handling it with a lot of care. The fan/blower is a bit noisy at the high and medium settings, so I tend to use it on the lowest setting. If you're not a fan of the light on the device, you'll need to cycle through several settings to turn it off - which I found rather annoying but tolerable. Two downsides: 1) the device ... MoreIt works as advertised. The handle is on the box, not the device; 2) The power cord is only a few feet long so you will either need a long extension or position it close to your power outlet (it's not a truly portable wireless device and needs to be plugged in to work).

I bought this product bc I was curious to know how it really works & how good it was. Well to my dismay I was highly disappointed. It is a piece of jJUNK... I couldn't even get the drawer open. There is nothing to pull it open with. I had to pry it open putting something in the crack it doesn't slide well at all. as a drawer, It is all plastic one of the vent fans where the air flows out broke off. I was very disappointed. I am returning it. It is a good idea for cooling off in a pinch but the cold air only lasts for so long. directions tell you to soak the insides in water but freeze for better effectiveness but like I said only lasts so long once it melts & gets warm you need to start over. you can purchase the cooling unit so you can have a spare I guess but I ... MoreI bought this product bc I was curious to know how it really works & how good it was. It's a good idea for cooling off or for a quick cool down, I'll give it that much. But that is as far as I go. It definitely not worth $39.99 even if I got a little discount. Still too pricey. But that was my thoughts on it.

Not Bad

I've hesitated buying this due to being in an area that is not humid, but not dry enough for an evaporative cooler. But my A/C finally died and I cannot aford to replace. I've only had this since this morning, but so far I'm slightly impressed. For best results, you have to have it within 2 feet to really feel a difference. It's 87 degrees in my livingroom and I'm fairly comfortable with it next to me about a foot away. I feel some cool moisture but it's not enough to make me perspire or my shirt or arm of chair feel damp. I haven't tried freezing the filter. Need the unit too much to wait that long. This should come with a second filter to be able to rotate. So far I'm a bit pleased. Although I think either $25 to $30 retail or a second filter would be better price ... MoreI've hesitated buying this due to being in an area that is not humid, but not dry enough for an evaporative cooler. Read this & understand how to use it

There are so many negative reviews because people don’t understand what this product is supposed to be used for. It is tiny, you cannot expect something so small to cool down your entire room, that’s not the purpose of it.You need to set it up right in front of you 2-4 feet away, facing you, & it will blow cool generated air at you. This is different than using a fan because a regular fan blows room temperature (warm) air at you which is uncomfortable. How does the Arctic Air cooler generate cool air?1) you need to take out the spongy cloth filter, run it under the tap to get it wet, & put it in the freezer for 30 min-1 hour. Put it back in the machine when ready to use.2) There is also a water reservoir you are supposed to fill up with cold water and ice ... MoreThere are so many negative reviews because people don’t understand what this product is supposed to be used for. This machine cools the air enough facing you so that you feel comfortable enough to fall asleep. If you look at the picture I submitted, you can see my bed, and how far away the air cooler is from it. It’s perfect.

Works decent, but if left alone with water in it, will grow mold.
8 August 2022

(Image: I only ever had water in it and I've had it for about 6 months) The unit itself works about as well as an "as seen on tv product would", meaning there's better products out there. It does cool the room down but I can get repetitive putting ice cubes in it every 2 or so hours. Biggest problem of all is that if you leave it with water in it, it slowly starts to grow mold and at some point becomes unusable, let alone dangerous. If you're looking to buy this, don't. It's not worth it at all. I've had mine for about 6 months and I only used it the first month since some of the water would just stay in the tub and grow a discusting black over time. I haven't gotten to throwing it away yet since it was somewhat hidden and I just never looked back at it. I will now ... More(Image: I only ever had water in it and I've had it for about 6 months) The unit itself works about as well as an "as seen on tv product would", meaning there's better products out there.
