Water or moisture gets into the sensor and fails. The sensor works intermittently. Changed twice within 3 months. Cheap and nasty... second time took it to Bunnings for a refund... should have listened to the electrician the first time!! Any saving from cheap sensor, cost me a lot more in electricians multiple visit.

Approx 12 months old, cracked lens already, brittle plastic like it’s not uv stabilised. Didn’t detect motion very well before lens was cracked and after numerous times changing anglesNow the light it feeds doesn’t switch off after the pre set time. Constantly turns back on. Forcing me to use the light as a manual on/off switched.

Cheap rubbish. Not waterproof at all. Took it apart after around 2 months of use, rusted inside and full of water.

Cheapest way to turn your existing light into a sensor light. Very happy with it and now I’ve bought a second one. Both work perfectly. Good range and adjustability.
Just put up a new one after 23 years
Didn't get 12 months out this model before it failed with the lights staying on all night. It may be rated to IP44 but the installation instructions stated to keep out of direct sunlight when doing the placement and unfortunately it received about 3 hours of morning sun causing the infra red sensor to fail. I thought it may have been a cobweb to start with but when brushing the sensor cover it just went to pieces as it was brittle. Only use this product if you can place it where no sun will touch it.
Bought this last week. First time install not working. Go exchange another one. Back home install it again. Still not working! Waste time. Suggest buy a expensive one. What u paid and what u get..
Was purchased to replace 8 year old identical model that had become sensitive to moving foliage (instead bodies) and kept turning on/off during windy nights - possibly because sensor window had weathered. Big advantage is that it can be separately located and oriented to optimise movement-detection area, from the controlled lights that are oriented to optimise illumination areas.
Build quality is average...but its cheap so to be expected. Manual override function requires sensor to be activated first...so I have to go down the stairs, trigger the sensor then perform the override sequence at the switch- No thanks
I wanted to have 3 sensors mounted on the 3 sides of the front of my house and I wanted all my front lights to come on regardless of which sensor was activated. My electrician installed the Arlec units 4 years ago and they function exactly as I requested.Someone coming up the front path, all the front lights come on. Driving my car up the driveway, all the front lights come on. When exiting my home via the front door all the outside lights come on the instant I open the front door. The whole of my front yard is illuminated, regardless of the direction of motion. The sparkie did a great job and these sensors have worked faultlessly for 4+ years.I don't understand the negative comments, for me they have been terrific.
