Save your money. When the trial period ends the system is degraded by about 50% which means no video recording at all. You are kindly notified of "a motion". You will be given multiple opportunities to purchase a subscription. A DVR recorder may be better. In my most humble opinion.

These cameras are great when they work. They are constantly going offline. We have purchased four cameras so that one camera would be working at all times, but that is not the case. Several times all cameras have been offline when they were needed. Since this is a security system it is imperative that they work the time.

ARLO is the worst... I bought this 3 pack... the battery life is horrible and 2 of the 3 don't catch Wi-Fi if it sat on top of the router.On top of all this Arlo's customer service is the worst. They keep giving me the run around with their technical team. I cannot even return it as i dont have the original packaging and it is more than 30 days.On top of this - Arlo has now changed to paid web storage (not even 1 week of free storage). I have 3 arlos from prior (Arlo Pro 2 gen) and wanted to expand my coverage by adding 3 more.Now i have to pay $13 a month for arlo to store recordings.This is a rip off. ARLO is a RIP OFF

I bought these cameras in November and still have yet to get them working. This was a waste of my money. I have had other people try to connect the cameras and they will work overnight and then go offline and then I can't connect them again. I have tried email for support and I still can't get the cameras to work. I never had a customer service number to call until now when someone I know has the Arlo cameras and gave me the number. Now I am hold for over a half hour.
Arlo use to be a good system when they gave you 7 days of cloud storage for free. Now you have to pay for cloud storage along with having to buy a subscription to maintain Arlo Secure features, including cloud storage, advanced object detection, rich notifications, quick responses, cloud activity zones. What a ripoff! I would not recommend this camera or any Arlo product.
I had existing Arlo Pro on my system and recorded locally to a memory drive. I added the 3 Arlo Essential which came with some kind of trial service of expansive service which I never needed. One was cloud storage which I did not need since I record locally. After that trial ended the 3 Arlo Camera would not record locally even though their customer said they would and that was it. No technical service was attempted on their behalf. Just a reference of a bunch of articles that states how to set up local recording which I'm tech savvy and I knew how to set it up. I'm not sure if that was their way of saying you must have a subscription to record which is not good business. Waste of money unless you want to be tied to a subscription. It’s a no from me dawg. We have 5 arlo cameras. The battery life is very mediocre even with very little motion that causes the camera to send alerts. Also, even with very fast and reliable WiFi, there is a lag in alerts. By the time I get the alert and open the app, whoever was on camera is already backing out of the drive way. Which marks the ability to talk through them pretty useless. Also, know that videos only stay in the cloud for 30 days. And be aware that these cameras do not record full time. Just short snippets. (Unless you want to buy a smart hub AND pay an additional fee for each camera). Picture quality is decent enough to see motion or get the basic idea of what someone is doing, but when you try and zoom in to identify someone the picture is pretty ... MoreIt’s a no from me dawg. I purchased this before the whole Arlo End of Life fiasco. I wished I known that they would stop operating after I purchased this. I wish I could return this and get a refund. :( This arlo camera does not work anymore. I wasted $179.00. :( The lights from my base are on, but the cameras still offline and cannot connect to the base. I have to buy a different brand now!
You need to subscribe to their service in order to view videos. Many other cameras do not require that. You may think that having a Hub would work in lieu of a subscription but NOPE! In order to view videos from your Hub (usb drive), you need to remove the drive and plug it into your PC. You CANNOT view your usb recorded videos on the Arlo app.
I bought this to replace the Arlo 3 that I had. The Arlo 3 was constantly needing to be recharged do to the high traffic door it was monitoring. I bought the XL model to replace the Arlo 3 and it’s been terrific. I can go over a month without having to charge it and it’s picking up tons of daily movement.
