I have an issue with my right foot and have worn cartilage on the ball of my foot from working as a service repair tech for over 26 yrs. I have always gone straight to New Balance or Hoka but was pleasantly surprised at these Ascis and how amazingly comfortable they were the moment my feet slid inside them. I am very picky with my sneakers and if it's not perfect for me then I move on. This sneaker was all around impressive! The added bonus was the color... I was advised by my Chiropracter to buy HOKAs for stability and comfort on my feet. I went into the store asking for the HOKA Bondi 8 or Gaviotta 5. The salesman asked me what were my goals with a shoe and I told him and he wanted me to be open to the best shoe for me not what "I thought was the best shoe for me based on some one else's recommendation." He had me try on four models, New Balance, Hoka Bondi 8 and Hoka Gaviotta 5, and the Asics Kayano 30. Bottomline the Asics Kayano 30 was the hands down winner. The shoe fits like a glove and the stability and cushioning is amazing. I bought two pairs I was so convinced, one for work one for walking/hiking. This shoe is a winner, definitely recommend to give it a try if you're looking for stability and supreme comfort!

These shoes are not worth the money and ASICS does not stand behind their product. I have never had an issue with numbness in the ball of my foot until wearing the Kayano 30. When I contacted customer service regarding the issue I was told that they to don’t replace or refund shoes for “fit and feel” issues. To make things worse, the shoelace on the right shoes was six inches longer than the one on the left. ASICS refused to replace the laces stating “thelaces come with the shoe” and they do not have replacement laces for individual shoes. You are taking a $160 gamble when you buy these shoes from ASICS online. You need to be certain the “fit and feel” is spot on for you, because they will only refund you money for visible defects in the shoe itself. I’ve been wearing Gel-Kayano’s for many years, always in the same size. My last pair were the Kayano 27’s and they were a perfect fit. Imagine my surprise when I bought this pair and the toe box was uncomfortably tight. I had received a 10% off discount when I purchased the shoes, so I contacted customer service thinking to exchange the pair for a larger size. I was told repeatedly that the 10% discount is a one use discount and that they couldn’t help me with exchanging for a larger size. It was actually comical, because they advised within the same phone call that one should purchase their same shoe size when buying within the same brand/style as a general rule, but then also stated that going from the 27’s to the 30’s was a large jump and of course there would be ... MoreI’ve been wearing Gel-Kayano’s for many years, always in the same size. I was told that they would ask their supervisor to see if they could provide me with a discount on the larger size and send me an email with the results. The email came back saying “I'm sorry but we cannot provide the 10% discount as it's for one-time use only”. I’m assuming “asking their supervisor” was just to get me off of the phone. I will be returning the shoes and purchasing from a different brand as ASICS clearly cares more about inflating their quarterly earnings than keeping loyal customers. This entire experience was hugely disappointing.
After wearing Kayanos for the past 12 years for daily walking, this will be my last pair. The shoe build and fit has changed so much that it no longer works for me. The toe box seems more narrow and shallow. The first time I wore them, I got a painful blister on the medial side of my right foot near my heel. When I reached out to customer service, I was told no refunds or exchanges on shoes that have been worn outside. I have continued to try and break them in, since I can’t afford to replace them. After wearing them 6-7 times, they are still the most uncomfortable athletic shoes I have ever owned. This is so unfortunate, as I’ve probably had 12-14 pair of Kayanos over the years and they have been comfortable right out of the box. My next pair will be from a manufacturer that allows returns if the shoe is uncomfortable ( Brooks, Nike, Altra) upon normal use.
I came looking for a shoe I could stand up in all day without foot pain. This was the one! At first, I felt like my foot was being tilted backwards. However, I decided to make a couple of adjustments by removing the factory installed insoles and adding a pair of Massaging Gel insoles and a pair of Massaging Gel Heel Cushions underneath to ensure proper leveling of my feet.. These two inserts made all the difference as it ensures my foot position inside the shoe is never uncomfortable. I chose Asics because I have an older pair of this brand that allowed me the lkuxery of standing all day at work with no pain at all! I admit I didn't use the shoe selector as provided on the website to get the right shoe, but given my previous experience with the brand, I was most of ... MoreI came looking for a shoe I could stand up in all day without foot pain. Thanks Asics!
I have been wearing Kayano for nearly 12 years I believe. I buy 1-3 pairs per year for running. I have always loved that I can order my size online and never be concerned about the fit. Although the design has changed over the years, it has never changed drastically until the last two designs. I was not a fan of the design changes with the Kayano 30, so I have been trying to find 28's or 29's in stores and online. I thought maybe the 31's would come out and I could skip the 30's. However, the 31's are even worse in my opinion. I bought the 30's because no matter the design, I have always loved the fit and feel of the shoe. Unfortunately, the 30's seem to have changed the fit as well. They don't seem to have the same cushion in the mid met section. Good cushioning and shock absorption, however, I prefer my Asics Gel Nimbus 23s. I should have ordered what I was familiar with, but I wanted to try something new. These are OK, but the heel folds in slightly when I put them on and the tongue seems very short, which is slightly annoying when I am putting them on. The sole of the heel is also very wide and not particularly cute. Once they are on, they are OK, but I prefer the spring I get from the Gel Nimbus when running, and those don't have the folding heel and short tongue issues that these do. I think these are probably better for stability, but I don't normally have problems with that. I returned the first pair because they run a little shorter than the Gel Nimbus, so by the time I got the second pair, I didn't ... MoreGood cushioning and shock absorption, however, I prefer my Asics Gel Nimbus 23s. I bought this new Kayano when it first came out because I am interesting in the 4D guidance approach to stability, rather than a medial post. The shoe now guides you towards running through the center of your foot, rather then pushing you towards center mass with dense foam underneath your arch. It still supports your pronation, but uses a wider base and a thicker sidewall to hold your foot up. Similar to that of Hoka or Brooks shoes, but I like the Asics way the most so far. The shoe has been great. Contrary to other reviews I do not have an issue with the sizing, I can run in 11.5, but get 12's because I get ingrowns and it fits as I'd hope. The cushioning is fantastic, the stability is not what it used to be, it is definitely less aggressive now, but that is the ... MoreI bought this new Kayano when it first came out because I am interesting in the 4D guidance approach to stability, rather than a medial post. The cushioning is fantastic, the stability is not what it used to be, it is definitely less aggressive now, but that is the goal and it still does the job well. I 100% recommend this shoe to runners looking for some stability in their shoes, but it is no longer going to support those with more severe pronation as much as they want and is moving away from what many walkers in my store tend to ask for. Unfortunately this is the future of running shoes (following Hoka's footsteps to be honest), so if you don't like it grab the Kayano 29 asap. The rocker has felt great on my runs, the cushion is soft and dense which I love, and the fit is very consistent arch wise and width wise for Asics (a touch narrower in the heel, but roomy toe box similar to Brooks). It has felt great for anything from speed work to my longer runs, though those are only 6 miles right now. Great shoe, but if you are not sure, go to your local running store and try it on if you can.
Very cushiony with some support too. My main issue is that these feel very heavy. I've had other versions of the Kayano and most were like that too, though, so I knew what I was getting. Since they're being used for longer and slower runs that's OK, but I'd still prefer if they were a bit lighter. Also, I am in between regular and wide... got wide this time, which gave me more room, but the shoes still seemed a bit short in length. The tips of my big toes still felt crammed. Most of the other shoe companies I use: Saucony, Brooks, etc, are about 1/4" longer and fit perfectly. Asics seem to run slightly small at times in my experience. Overall this is a very well constructed, solid shoe that provides good stability.
