Having taken on extra running objectives...I soon realised that my old trusty ASICS 'patriot' were fast becoming in need of replacement...hence i took full advantage of this summer's online sale and acted upon an instant love for the Gel-Quantum 90's (black+gold).A stunning looking light-weight road running mesh style shoe with an effective increased comfort...Housing a soft padded upper tongue and shock-damage prevention innovative *gel sole,(banishing any returning shin-splint worries?)thus to say - ok 1st wear is always the 'breaking in' part (felt great although a little skinnier & tighter - than what I had become accustomed to - but i simply put that down to my old well-worn shoes having too much give?)...but after a few more runs - i can state that ... MoreHaving taken on extra running objectives...I soon realised that my old trusty ASICS 'patriot' were fast becoming in need of replacement...hence i took full advantage of this summer's online sale and acted upon an instant love for the Gel-Quantum 90's (black+gold).A stunning looking light-weight road running mesh style shoe with an effective increased comfort...Housing a soft padded upper tongue and shock-damage prevention innovative *gel sole,(banishing any returning shin-splint worries?)thus to say - ok 1st wear is always the 'breaking in' part (felt great although a little skinnier & tighter - than what I had become accustomed to - but i simply put that down to my old well-worn shoes having too much give?)...but after a few more runs - i can state that these are fast becoming a delight...They look and feel great and are performing better than expected - However they do seem to shrink a little around your foot? I start my run and they are really comfortable and super-bouncy.. yet always feel a little too tight and very suffocating towards end?? (...could be just down to generated heat and a natural foot swell??) - so to combat this I recommend really loosening the laces off to the point of keeping them tied up but very loose (+being able to just slip them on/off) and they will perform much better.I'm now feeling blessed at this great buy -(only hope they wear as well and host a longevity similar to that of my previous pair of ASICS)- in general....they always say "stick to what you know" + I've used and trusted ASICS for many years now + always had good experiences - typically cracking quality sport shoes for the price, and so - with those extra little design details plus's... such as the delicate Hi-Viz stripes on the heel-strap and lace-loops, that deceivingly super soft heat generating upper-tongue (do not overtighten) and that bouncy air feeling sole...Simply put -'an obvious and easy choice for the average (sub-60) 10k runner'....I love them!!!

These have been universally liked for their sharp looks by everyone near and dear who saw me wearing them for the first time. As far as comfort is concerned, off the box they were a snug fit but comfortable to wear for the few hours that I wore them. Now after about 10 days of wear, they have really become super comfy to wear. Their grip and non slip sole is superb and gel ortho cushioning makes it my first choice pair of shoe when going out.

Short on Gel, the shoes look great! But if you walk in them for an extended period of time, your feet will get sore. Especially towards the front. The heel does have Gel, but it feels the rest of the bottom of shoe is lacking any Gel support. Making it a very bumpy ride.

As someone tall with narrow feet, finding shoes that fit is a difficult and frustrating task. Most footwear is just too wide for my feet. I usually end up putting in extra insoles and then causing a whole range of other issues with fit. These shoes fit my narrow feet perfect! No need to tighten the laces too tight just to get them to fit snug or add an insole. I'm buying more of these. Thank you Asics for designing these great shoes and for Tilley's for carrying them!
As a former runner for over 45 years, I have purchased many pairs of ASIC shoes. Because of arch problems, I have used arch supports in many of the shoes I have purchased. Now that my knees won’t allow running any longer, I just walk. These shoes are so comfortable and padded that I am just wearing them as I received them out of the box. They are also stylish and can be worn almost anywhere!
Good looking shoe, fit was good, noticed the cushioning was on the 'meh' side. I wore these to a conference for a week and had to do a lot of walking, at the end of the day my feet were extremely sore. A full day walking in Disneyland gave me foot pain and plantar fasciitis. I'll likely wear these on days when i know i don't need to be on my feet a lot, and I won't buy these again.
These shoes look awesome and feel good for about a day. I’ve always worn Nike but have been wanting to try ASICS again. The shoe is mostly flat and doesn’t hold its shape well, no arch or heel support. Eventually it was really painful. I’m on my feet on hard ground 12-13 hours a day and that’s just at work. I wore them for about 1 week and that’s all I could stand. Sitting in my closet wish I could return them but apparently can’t because online return policy and in store return policy are different. Good looking shoe, like how the gel looks, wish they weren’t so painful to wear.
First time that a pair of ASICS didn’t fit me comfortably for walking. Shoe caused a bump to come out on the left side of my foot, did a lot of walking in 2 days wearing this shoe. None of my other pairs of ASICS has done this, this shoe must run more narrower than the rest.
I think they forgot to put the gel in the pair I got. The insoles are so thin I could feel the tread under the ball of my feet and big toes. My feet were sore after only wearing them for an hour and a half but I bought good insoles and it resolved the issue. Also, the loops on the tongues are way too long and rubbed the front of my ankles so I snipped them off. I can enjoy these now and they look cool.
I'd say a 3.75 stars, but not a 4. I've had previous Asics that lasted a decade so their quality is high. These Quantum 90's were 1/2 too big, yet a tight fit when going down a 1/2. They're starting to break in and get more comfortable as the insoles are contouring and may take time to for the memory foamish insoles to adjust to the shape of my foot. Compared to others shoes in this price range these win. Build quality excellent!
