The GEL-NIMBUS 23 running shoe continues to offer excellent comfort and long-run impact absorption. Its improved stability provides a more balanced stride that's followed by smoother transitions. Constructed with comfort and breathability in mind, the upper features a softer engineered mesh design for long runs. Engineered eyelet shaping helps the upper move more naturally with the foot, while a stretchy midfoot panel appropriately hugs the foot to generate better flexibility. Providing the runner with excellent shock absorption and softness, the GEL-NIMBUS 23 delivers more compression in the heel thanks to its softer GEL technology cushioning unit and contoured design lines. Also, a gender-specific TRUSSTIC device provides an articulated amount of support in the right direction for men and women to help generate a smooth transition. Under the toe, the inclusion of gender-specific pillars help cushion the body and help runners experience a softer feel. Simultaneously, the ORTHOLITE X-55 sockliner equips runners with a forgiving, yet responsive stride. The components of the GEL-NIMBUS 23 shoe help increase the softness without forgoing the integrity of the shoe's ride. Our 23rd version of the GEL-NIMBUS continues to make advancements within the lineage by offering improved support and comfort for distance runners.

I'm just getting my second pair of 23's. The first pair went through countless halfs, 1 marathon and 2 ultras and they're just getting weary now. I've always used nimbus since the 18's and I'd say this is the best they've done. They feel cushioned but not the hoka kind....the balance is good between cushioning and knowing what's beneath you. Tongue doesn't wag about and the toe box is a decent size. It displaces water well on rainy days and I've never ever slipped on any version of the nimbus (unlike koke and Nike....I'm over the road like a bag of bottles on those ones). Saying that I'm no fast runner or anyway close to being one of thise classed as a good runner....just the 57 year old slightly overweight bloke at the back of the field. These shoes are incredibly comfortable. I use them mostly for walking and the cushioning is wonderful. It's very soft, yet stable enough if I decide if I want to run instead of walk. I normally replace the insole when I get a new pair of shoes, but I didn't need to with the Gel-Nimbus. I bought a comparable shoe from another well known shoe manufacturer and I much prefer the Gel-Nimbus over their competitor's version. Their cushioning is bouncey, but feels less stable then the Gel-Nimbus and the toe box in the Gel-Nimbus is just the right size for me. I have narrow to average width feet and these shoes fit my feet perfectly.

After a lenghty period out with from running with injuries and niggles, then getting a place in the London Marathon I decided to buy some more running shoes as the ones I currently have (still in decent condition) were giving me problems. So I spotted the Nimbus 23's going for a brilliant price. After getting gait tested from a well known running shop I opted to buy them. They arrived well before the date that was estimated so I was delighted and couldn't wait to get a run in. My first run was a long run and they felt wonderful, did 10 miles and my legs felt great even the next day! I will definitely be buying more Asics running shoes.... The 25's look so good! Maybe if I win the voucher 😜

Helping me get back to running!
12 May 2023

I bought these as I am training from couch to 10k. The last few times i tried to get back into running after an injury I failed after a few runs due to shin splints. The Nimbus's, along with compression socks are making a massive difference to my come back. I find the Nimbus true to size and really comfortable. My previous shoes feel like wooden boards strapped to my feet compared to these.I have been running mixed surfaces: tarmac, gravel, grass, hardpack ground and even some shallow mud when it rains. Obviously they are not waterproof, but i have found the grip really good so far even in torrential rain yesterday!Very happy!

Making their shoes worse!

Making their shoes worse. They forgot to add the loop on the tongue that holds up the tongue by running laces thru it. Seems so cheap of them. They used way too much fiberfill near top of the tongue for padding that pushes the laces down and places them iver the lower laces causing a painful presure point.Theres hardly any padding on the rest of the tongue where the laces press fown from top. Marathon Tested
19 May 2023

I have been loyal to ASICS for running shoes for over a decade and have run 2 Marathons in that time. I wore these shoes for the 2nd one as well as many training runs leading up to the event. They are a great shoe offering appropriate amounts cushioning for long distance road running. I have read reviews which state they run 'hot'. This is true, but not really a problem for UK weather. I also have a pair of Nimbus 24's which unfortunately have a design flaw in that the guidance line is too wide. This results in the shoe distorting and causing foot pain on the outside of the foot after only 6 miles. Do not get them mixed up or believe will be similar as they run completely differently. In my opinion, the 23's are better.

Newly disappointed after years of dedication
26 April 2023

I have utilized The Nibus series for a few years. Typically buying 5-7 pairs at a time. I have perfected my own personal break-in process as my feet are extremely temperamental. Unknowingly the engineering changed and increased the cushioning aspect of the Nimbus resulting in greater foot strike instability resulting in bilateral extreme plantar fasciitis. I was running 25-35 miles a week and have been unable to run for the last six weeks. Frustrated would be an understatement as currently even simple walking is prohibitive. For years I loved and was dedicated to the Nimbus but no longer a fan due to changes.

Not Durable Anymore
1 March 2022

I've bought ASICS shoes for at least the last 15 years and have run many half marathons and a marathon in then. The quality has taken a nosedive with their new redesign. The shoes are junk now. It's obvious they are using cheap glues, stickers, and thin materials now. Within a few weeks, the sticker on the tongue peeled right off and the outer parts of the sole started breaking off. A couple months in, I also started noticing holes on both sides on both shoes that looks like someone took a box cutter to my shoes. Never seen that before. After 6 months, these shoes are pretty much lawn shoes now. I used to be able to wear a pair of ASICS for 18 months without any serious problems. I bought a pair of Gel Cumulus 23s in the offseason and they were the most uncomfortable pair of shoes I've owned. The insole on those actually fell apart. Never seen that before. My wife also bought a pair of Nimbus 23s shortly after me and has the same hole problem and started developing arch pain within months, also a first for her. She's since switched to Brooks and I'm looking for another brand as well. Oh yea, and the price on these shoes keeps going up. Now they are the same price as the Gel Kayanos were a few years ago. ASICS is turning into every other disposable shoe brand out there. High prices and junk shoes. Super disappointed!

Not my favorite Asic
17 April 2022

I have tried many styles and versions of Asic shoes and I have to honestly say these are not my favorite. I have worn these now for about a month and can give an opinion on wearing these outside on pavement and concrete as well as in a gym setting. When initially putting them on they are very comfortable and light. I usually walk outside on pavement and concrete for 5 to 6 miles 3 to 4 times a week. These shoes were very comfortable and caused no issues with my plantar faceitis. The toe box feels wide and my toes never feel crowded. However, my heel constantly slips in these shoes and eventually my socks invariably end up in the middle of my foot. This becomes frustrating. I have worn the Cumulus on the elliptical for many years and never had the issue. Sad to say these shoes are a miss for me and I regret buying them. Hope this helps!

OK but miss my Nimbus 18's
4 January 2022

I have worn Asics Gel Nimbus for many years as my go to walking/athletic shoe. It was a lifesaver for me when I had plantar fasciitis in 2012. I have tried to get a new pair the last few years and the last few iterations just did not work for me. The cushion had changed and toe box seemed shorter and overall the shoe more narrow. One of my feet measures as a B width and the other a C width so I have been looking at a women's D shoe. I have had to go up another 1/2 size as the shoes seems to be cut shorter than the older styles. I bought this pair of Nimbus and chose the mens shoe regular width as it just felt a little better than the women's D width. I bought this pair of Nimbus and chose the mens shoe regular width as it just felt a little better than the women's D width. What I like: The cushion and arch support even though I think the gel feel is far less than say 3 versions ago. What I don't like: The way the tongue is sewn in. Not nearly as soft and comfortable as the loose tongue. I preferred the split cushion where the achilles tendon comes down to the heal. Much more comfortable. The shoe still feels a bit snug and considering trying the men's wide to see if the toe box is more comfortable and wish the toe box was a bit taller. I spent a long time at the shoe store trying different brands. I still think my nimbus gel 18 had the best all round shoe cushion for comfort on the upper as well as the sole. I just get the feeling the shoe has been scaled back or cheapened compared to former versions. Looking at several other brands but in the end the arch support in this shoe really fits mine the best. Sad to pay 150 + for a shoe and feel like I am making do.
