I bought these shoes a month ago primarily for work as a support worker. I am on my feet for most of the day and I find these shoes very comfortable. The best part though is my feet stay dry after I haves showered a client. Highly recommended, great value for money.

I was looking for UK winter proof trainers for walking on and off pavement. These shoes were comfortable from the first wear and I have had no blisters or foot pain wearing them. The soles are relatively stiff which is good on uneven ground. The ortho soles are firm but still provide good cushioning. They are reasonably waterproof for splashes and rain but you’ll get some dampness on top of the feet doing a long walk in heavy rain. The only down side I would say is they are a little low around the ankle. I have to use the extra lace holes and really pull them tight so that they don’t slip around the heel.

Starting with the good, the upper is structured and supportive with a really comfortable heel counter. The fit is true to size for Asics, which is slightly narrower than other trail shoe brands in my experience. The Gore-Tex upper works as promised and while the waterproofing makes for a warm shoe, it has kept out rain and wet. The mid-sole is really stiff to start, but does soften over time. It's not a particularly bouncy mid-sole, but it does enough to help with foot fatigue over medium distances. The major downside of this model is the outsole. The tread pattern looks great and does provide some traction in soft soil. However, in wet conditions the outsole may as well be an ice skate blade. Very disappointed with these shoes. My first pair of ASICS shoes that were rock hard and uncomfortable. Even with custom orthotics I cannot wear these because they are so rigid that they cause pain in my feet and ankles. Customer service couldn’t have cared less when I asked to exchange for a more expensive shoe. I was shocked. Never again. I will think twice before buying another ASICS product because of this experience.
I ordered thes online from Asics to replace my Gel Cumulus 16 GTX because those were no longer Waterproof. 😉 So far, so Good. These will be my Rainy day alternative for my 2 pairs of Cumulus 21's. I would prefer a slightly Higher arch in the Insole. As a sidenote to ASICS: I found my way into your Fitting Guide, got bounced out of it, and then couldn't find the Fitting Guide again on the Website. 🙄 I took a gamble and I am pleased enough to keep these.
I made the mistake of previously getting the Sonoma 6 GTX in a US size 11.5, and so decided to get the Sonoma 7 GTX in a US size 12 and am very happy with my new pair. They are very comfortable and I think great value for a waterproof Gore-Tex trail shoe. I also tried the more expensive Gel Trabuco 12 G-TX in a store and actually find the Gel Sonomas to be more confortable for me. I mainly wear them for rainy days when I work in my company's office, and they are great for keeping my feet dry whilst also looking smart enough to pair with chinos and a polo shirt for work. I haven't tried them yet for actual trail walking, but was very happy with the Gel Sonoma 6 G-TX for this purpose and am quite confident it will be the same with the Gel Sonoma 7 G-TX.
I have always bought Asic running shoes and found they fit my feet perfectly. I was needing something waterproof for outdoor bootcamps and these have not disappointed. My feet are warm and dry and they are really comfortable. Would definately recommend.
Ascics are usually my go to for a wider toe box , as I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes due to my bunion. Looking for gore tex shoes for disc golf and was really excited that I found some Ascics for that, and that they were reasonably priced. Really disappointed, though, as these shoes are very uncomfortable on my feet and the toe box is narrow. And I can't return them because I wore them outside a few times thinking I just needed time to break them in.
My wife and I each bought Gel-Sonoma 7 GTX shoes for our two week trip to Europe. So glad we did. It rained sometime nearly every day, yet these shoes kept our feet absolutely dry. We walked at least 8-9 miles a day, and the shoes were extremely comfortable. The tread also provided excellent traction on wet cobblestone streets. Probably the best purchase we made for the trip - I highly recommend them!
I wanted something a bit more durable than my previous ASICS and was advised that the GEL-SONOMA 7 would fit the bill. After the last 5 pairs I knew my size and placed the order. Delivery was extremely quick and when I first wore them I was extremely happy with my purchase. However, unlike my previous ASICS after about 5km of walking I began to get pains in my heel and on the top of my foot. I am normally able to walk 10km without a problem but these have caused blisters which I have not had with ASICS before.I will look to break the shoes in slowly to see if this makes a difference but so far I would have to say that this product is not up to the standard I expect.
