By helping runners appropriately compress the foam during the landing phase of their stride, Asics Men’s Gel-Cumulus 23 Running Shoes promote a smooth ride and improves shock absorption. Engineered mesh upper GEL technology cushioning provides excellent shock absorption Flytefoam technology provides lightweight cushioning Gender specific 3D Space Construction Reflective accents improve visibility in low-light conditions Wrapping the foot with an even soft feel, Asics Men’s Gel-Cumulus 23 Running Shoes engineered mesh upper adds strategic support in targeted areas while leaving some of the fibres more open to improve breathability. The upper also works more closely with the midsole’s movement, which creates a smoother stride from footstrike to toe-off. Additionally, the shoe’s upper is made with recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions. To improve cushioning and flexibility, Asics added a 3D Space Construction to the top layer of the midsole. This technology is implemented through a series of strategically planted pillars within the midsole, allowing runners to experience more compression in a specific area without reducing durability or stability. Lastly, a softer GEL technology unit is positioned under the heel to improve cushioning while the Flytefoam midsole material helps create a smooth and more supportive ride.

A good, solid walking shoe

I am a neutral foot person with no real issues as I spend a lot of my life barefoot. I can't tolerate crappy shoes. These were comfortable right away with none of the tilt a lot of cushiony models suffer these days. We walk a lot every day over variable terrain including hills/metal and the support and grip are adequate. My only beef is the one I have with most trainers- sock munching, which seems to occur despite the size I choose or my lacing configuration. Otherwise these are solid, comfortable, grippy walkers that keep my knees and hips in good shape. Would recommend.

I now consider myself an aficionado of the ASICS brand, having now purchased my now 10th pair from either the Oxford St branch or online. This pair is Asthetically pleasing and comfortable to the bone. The soles are like mini chesterfield sofa’s for my feet. These have just the right ratio between ground and feet. The padding that sits exquisitely under the foot arch is such a brilliant touch. These are so good must of my team wear them and they are experienced NHS clinicians. Will buy another couple of pairs soon.

Consistently Excellent

This is an excellent shoe. My second of the same type and version and it is the most comfortable Asics shoe I've had. Been an Asics customer for a long while now, previously the Gel-Pulse for many versions but more recently successive versions of this one the Gel-Cumulus (both "neutral" shoes). Would have gone for version 25 if the G-TX version was available. Or even Version 24 but in that case the green sole of the G-TX version put me off. So stuck with version 23. It remains an excellent shoe.

Cumulus 23 Review
22 February 2022

I have been using Gel-Cumulus for a number of years now. My old Cumulus 18s were starting to get uncomfortable on long runs so I knew it was time for an upgrade. I order my replacement Cumulus 23s online for the first time from Asics. I was very impressed with tracking process and my runners arrived on the designated delivery date.I took the Cumulus 23s for a run to break them in but I really didn't need to. The shoe provides great heel and ankle support and the foam inner makes longer runs much more comfortable. The toe box is nice and roomy which is good as I felt the Cumulus 18 felt cramped at times. The shoes are also much lighter than my previous pair which is an added bonus for the long runs. AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SHOES. I HAVE NOW USED IT TWICE: ON THE FIRST OCCASION MIDWAY THROUGH A LONG WALK/SLOW JOG I BEGUN EXPERIENCING PAIN ON THE SIDE/BACK OF MY LEFT HEEL. I DISMISSED THIS AND PERSEVERED. HOWEVER, ON THE SECOND OCCASION THE SAME PAIN AROSE AND BECAME UNCOMFORTABLE THAT I HAD TO VIRTUALLY LIMP BACK AS THE PAIN MANIFESTED ITSELF EACH TIME I EXERTED EVEN SLIGHT PRESSURE ON THE HEEL. THIS ONLY OCCURRED ON THE LEFT FOOT - I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES PREVIOUSLY USING OTHER TRAINERS/SHOES. FROM YOUR INVOICE, I SEE THE SHOE WERE DISPATCHED FROM THE 'OUTLET' STORE... DOES THAT MEAN THAT THE TRAINERS WERE NOT PERFECT?THEY ARE REGRETTABLY UNCOMFORTABLE AND CONSEQUENTLY UNUSABLE (FOR REASONS MENTIONED ABOVE)

Great Value for the Price, but I miss my Ghost 11s
23 September 2022

I've been running on Brooks Ghosts and Glycerins for 10 years. Loved em. LOVED. I recently bought a pair of Ghost 13s and they've been tearing up my feet--awful blisters over the Achilles even on short runs. So I've been trying out other shoes to see what's out there. Here's my take on the Cumulus 23:Great feel right out of the box. Not that comfy glove feeling I'm used to in the Ghosts and Glycerins, and not as smooth or stable a ride as Ghosts or Glycerins, but light with good energy return. The mesh breathes nicely. My only complaint is that there isn't enough space around the malleoli (ankle bones). It's subtle enough that I didn't notice until my second outing. My only complaint is that there isn't enough space around the malleoli (ankle bones). It's subtle enough that I didn't notice until my second outing. The first time out, I got a little numbness on my left foot like I hadn't put my socks on right or laced up properly--couldn't figure it out--but the second time out in the Cumulus 23s, I went for several miles. I got the numbness again, and when I got back, I had a blister rubbed into the rear underside of my left outer ankle--right where the peroneal and sural nerves wrap around from the rear of the leg to the lateral foot. That explained the numbness. Since it's just one foot/shoe, it might be a issue with my anatomy or the construction of that particular shoe...but I'm gonna be using moleskin and extra cushy socks for the next few hundred miles...and I'm still looking for a shoe that will love me like my old Ghost 11s.

Not Quite Cloud Nine...
18 June 2023

I've been a regular of Asics for some years and have always found them to be quality and comfort combined in harmony. I saw these Cumulus shoes on offer and thought I give them a go as I heard good things but price was always a bit more than I'd want to pay (always on the look for a bargain). Initially felt comfortable, then starting running and felt the sole a little uneven in one of the shoes but tried to ignore it. First run gave me blisters on the outer left foot. So was a little disappointed. But another run, with lace configuration changed, I'm feeling a bit more comfortable with them. I see how they go. Other than this minor hiccup, the quality still good, and I'll probably still keep buying Asics...

Solid shoe, not great...
6 July 2023

I have been using Gel-Cumulus for 10+ years and this is my least favourite version; it's not a bad shoe, but it's not good enough to make me rush out and buy more, even if they're heavily discounted. What I like:* well constructed and lasted through many season* lots of colour options* can be used for many training typesWhat I didn't like:* laces far too short for Asics recommended heel lock lacing* toe box is much tighter than previous versions* durability WAY down - I got c.200 miles vs. 275+ miles on my GC 21's and 22's

The right pair
13 June 2023

I have been wearing Gel-Cumulus for a long time now. I ran three marathons in them around twenty years ago and mostly continued using the same during the intervening casual running years. A few months ago I started upping my run mileage and now plan do another marathon. I found that my toes were taking a bit of a bashing. I did try another brand and while they were was okay I decided to buy these, half a size up from what I used to buy.I'm so happy (and relieved) to experience the same feeling as I was previously used to. For me, Gel Cumulus is the right combination of comfort and responsiveness.

Top notch value for money
22 December 2022

This is the third pair of Asics me and my wife have bought (6 pairs in the family so far in the last 4 years) and my 2nd 23 G-TX. Excellent ones for daily runs and we do anywhere between 5 to 10 kms 3 days a week. Brilliant cushion for the sole and the upper area, topnotch GTX and winter protection and top not material quality. The only drawback is, adhesive holding the upper to the sole comes off soon. The first 23 G TX which I paid full price and bought nine months ago, I have started using it for the last two months and it is already peeling off at the upper - sole joint area below the big toe of one show. Any chance of replacement?
