A pioneering shoe from Asics. I have been running for 30 years and am aged 61 and have primarily worn ASICS neutral models. I was recommended the Novablast and am incredibly impressed. They really do give you a spring in your step and there is a noticeable improvement in my pace on my runs. This may be attributable to the cushoning and design of the shoe. I have noticed on my longer runs of 8 to 10 miles that I am not experiencing the same levels of fatigue and I am now able to train 6 days a week. They are a big fit so I am catering for this by wearing thicker socks, but you may need a half size smaller than is usual. Many people get hung up on the design, but my primary interest is the performance of the shoe as I still run at competitive levels. I look forward to going out for a run in them, and they really do give you an added edge to your pace.

I’ve been for a number of runs in these shoes now. The new foam FlyteFoam is a completely different ASICS experience compared to other Gel Cushioning shoes, providing excellent cushioning and energy return with each stride. Whilst an incredibly comfortable experience, it is perhaps slightly too cushioned making it difficult to increase the pace on shorter runs. The sole layout and uppers also make moving sideways and cornering feel less comfortable although, in my opinion, this is a fair compromise for the added comfort. The initial fit is also different to other ASICS products and the toe box on opening felt oversized, although after running and adjusting the laces a number of times felt less unwieldy. Overall, this is an incredibly fun shoe to wear and a breath of fresh air from ASICS, it has certainly made my daily runs more enjoyable and I would definitely recommend for everyone to try it. It is great for those long, mid to high tempo when you want more cushioning although I might still reach for my less cushioned trainers for those PB runs and races.

After struggling in several different pairs of New Balance over the past few months, undecided to change the brand of trainers I run in. I firstly came across the GlideRide but then found these, the NovaBlast and I'm so glad that I did!I've just got back from my first run in these, only 5k but I'm absolutely blown away. These are by far the most comfortable trainers I've used, and being that they're heavily cushioned, it doesn't seem to affect the performance. They seem to push you forward, with a spring in your step. They feel really light on the foot too, which is always nice and seem well ventilated.I have a slightly wider foot than average, but not wide enough to go into a 2E shoe, and the NovaBlast fit perfectly. My only criticisms are that the laces are ... MoreAfter struggling in several different pairs of New Balance over the past few months, undecided to change the brand of trainers I run in. I also found them to be a little noisy when striking the pavement compared to other shoes I've used, but no big deal.

The Novablast is a fantastic shoe that is very versatile. As an older runner with bad joints and some injury history, I place a premium on cushioning, but I also want the attributes I wanted when I was younger - light weight, responsiveness, good snug fit, etc. This shoe does it all for me. I ran in Kayanos for years, and loved them, but they're a little heavy and bulky for racing, plus as I've aged I find I want more cushioning. The Novablasts fit the bill! The cushioning and comfort is 5/5. Weight is better than the Kayanos, and they feel like light, responsive, springy racing shoes in comparison. For me, they are true all-rounders, excelling at tempo runs, longer runs, easy runs, even speedwork and racing. If anyone is familiar with the Hoka Rincon, these shoes ... MoreThe Novablast is a fantastic shoe that is very versatile. For me, they are true all-rounders, excelling at tempo runs, longer runs, easy runs, even speedwork and racing. If anyone is familiar with the Hoka Rincon, these shoes are very similar, with a slightly better fit for me. The one small thing I would change is in the fit - I could use a slightly wider toebox. But honestly, that's really nitpicking, and I like a wider toebox than most people. Overall, a 4.5 for me, leaving a little room to improve the score if the toebox fit me better. Now expand the Novablast line; lose a little weight and add a carbon plate and you've got the perfect racer!
This is my second pair of Asics Novablasts. I use them for track and road at any distance. This new pair is for the marathon, but my usual runs are much shorter. I bought the same pair again as there is plenty of room in the toe box (I have wide feet), the fit is good, the look is decent enough for a running shoe, and mostly for the deep cushioning. Good, comfortable fast shoes. The only downside is lack of grip in all but good road conditions - but this is OK if you accept that they are purely road shoes. I wouldn't buy them if you're the sort of runner who only needs one pair of shoes.
I’m always surprised when new shoes improve my running even though I’m always telling friends to check their feet and buy the right pair of shoes to feel better running!I’ve been running in ASICS Novablast for 2 weeks now and this shoe is new to me. I’ve ran between 3 and 5 miles in them and I’m noticing how faster pace feels much easier in them. My legs feel a lot less fatigued and I seem to get up to speed and maintain it for the whole run. It’s even easier to push that extra 10% at the very end of the run too! When I’m running between 6:30-7:30 minute miles in Novablast it’s like my feet are already in the best position for pushing off when they strike the floor. This is probably because of the shape of the shoe’s sole. This is probably because of the shape of the shoe’s sole. My feet are already at the right angle for the best push off, I don’t need to be lifting my feet myself so I just GO!These shoes are much lighter than what I’m used to so running in them is much more energy efficient. They are about 100grams lighter than my usual ASICS Gel-Pulse shoe. This is probably why I’m feeling less fatigued in my runs. After my first run in Novablasts, my heels felt numb. I haven’t experienced this in the other runs though. The heel of the shoe are much more cushioned and there’s very little feeling of the ground under my heel so I guess I was adjusting to this fit.I also feel other muscles in my legs working when I’m running in Novablast compared to Gel-Pulse. My guess is that the different fit of the shoe is improving my posture or position when running so other muscles start working. This has got to be why other runners say it’s worthwhile to rotate running shoes to get the best gains in muscle memory.I am VERY impressed. I can’t wait to get back to racing or get to a parkrun in these!
This midsole is amazing. I think y'all have a real contender here with the rest of the top running shoe brands with this new midsole foam. Maybe see about incorporating a carbon plating to get it to be like a top marathon running shoe? I can't wait to put these on and just run in them - something that a running shoe should all be about. This midsole has turned me into buying strictly ASICS again like back in high school. The only complaint is the upper - although breathable and I'm not experiencing any slippage issues that some other reviewers are saying they are having, I have experienced that sometimes the tongue and the lacing causes the tongue or part of the upper to get synched mid-run which can cause some discomfort. I've had to stop my run and adjust to ... MoreThis midsole is amazing. I think y'all have a real contender here with the rest of the top running shoe brands with this new midsole foam. I think if the upper gets better and maybe a carbon plating option for races, this thing could catapult y'all to the very top beating out the other running shoe brands.Keep making shoes like this ASICS and y'all are going to just dominate the running game!
I bought a pair of Novablast having read lots of positive reviews about how bouncy and comfortable they are. They are moderately bouncy, not something I would particularly call out though - its ok, but not even as bouncy as an NB 1080v10 midsole. But it does have some major flaws. It is a very inflexible shoe. It also has an extremely oddly designed piece of piping round the perimeter of the tongue. Given how inflexible the shoe is and relatively unstable the heel portion in particular is, you need to crank the laces down. This hard piping on the tongue then presses into the medial side of your ankle making the shoe deeply uncountable. So your choice is discomfort or instability. I have no idea how a company whose job it is to make shoes - it's your only job - would ... MoreI bought a pair of Novablast having read lots of positive reviews about how bouncy and comfortable they are. Whoever designed them made a ridiculous mistake. Happy to review your shoes pro bono!
Among the best running shoes I've used over 30+ years Running. Comfortable, very good quality, and thus far durable. Light enough for speed work and reps, yetsufficiently cushioned for long runs too. As close to perfect as I've found.I also appreciate the simplicity of the NovaBlast, no gimmicks, just a straight-forward, qualitydesign. I hope ASICS will keep the same formula in future incarnations.
I read all the hype and reviews and thought these shoes looked amazing, so being a big ASICS fan I eagerly bought a pair. Having run in the Nimbus range for many years, and more recently the excellent Glyderide I had high hopes for the Novablast.Upon putting them on, they seemed fantastic - an excellent fit, very light and hugely comfortable if a little high-riding....so off I went for a run. Which is where the joy ended very quickly.Make no mistake, these shoes are quick and bounce you along. However, this comes at the cost of a remarkably unstable and uneven ride even on the flattest of surfaces which I can only guess puts a lot hidden strain elsewhere in the body. Each run in the Novablast started with a smile and ended with tears..so much pain.... knee ... MoreI read all the hype and reviews and thought these shoes looked amazing, so being a big ASICS fan I eagerly bought a pair. To ensure it wasn't my body simply giving up, I rested for a week (unheard of for me) and then switched back to the Glideryde for two weeks of pain-free running.I then tried, once again, to believe the Novablast would be ok. It wasn't. I was straight back where I started - only this time it was worse. The knee pain was unbearable - I could hardly walk for 4 days and wore knee supports all day long.Maybe it's just me and my body simply can't take the design of these shoes - if so, then I'm gutted as these could be amazing and fun to run in. As it stands, all they do is injure me and take away any joy from a sport I adore. If ASICS put more thought into the stability of this shoe and dropped the ride height - they'd have a serious winning shoe on their hands. Maybe a redesign might work?
