I walk 6 hours a week so I replace my walkiing shoes every 6 to 8 months. I have tried dozens of different models & brands of running-walking shoes. These are nice and wide! unlike most other brands of so-called wide-fitting shoes which aren't wide enough at the front formost of us Australasians. These models are a good balance of upper side-flex stiffness so your feet don't move sideways when the shoes is stressed sideways, and enough mesh weave material on the uppers to allow your feet to breathe without compromising foot stability. Great value for the price!

I've owned three pairs of these sneakers, which I've used for running/jogging, walking, the gym, and everyday wear around town. Although less cushioned than higher priced shoes, I actually prefer the lower stack height and firmer ride as I have a weak ankle that sometimes starts to roll a bit and get achy with shoes that have softer mid-soles, higher stack height (esp. in the heel), and/or lack stability.For me these shoes have been really stable, comfortable, and versatile. They're really breathable and fairly lightweight.I just wish they had more durable mesh in the upper and slighter harder, more durable rubber in the outsole. These were two areas that experienced premature wear on the first pair of these that I owned.These shoes seem fairly "true to size" and standard in their sizing. I have a men's "size 10.9, width C" (slightly narrow) foot and can wear these in either a 10.5 or 11 (Medium, Standard, "D" width) but the size 11 gives my toes plenty of extra room so that's what I wear currently.

Very good quality shoe for the money its a great value for someone looking for a serious running shoe and cant afford anything better. The greatest thing abot it is I beleive this shoe is going to be the best your going to get for this money compared to everything else at the same price. This is a good training and conditioning shoe that is light enough to race in if you had to but of course there is better more expensive options out there for a race shoe. I rate this shoe 5 stars especially for the value you get out of this one. What I like most about it is the classic look of the shoe that is not over the top crazy looking like a lot of other shoes out there are.

These shoes are very lightweight and breathable—I owned a pair of Asics a bunch of years ago, and I got sick of how non-breathable those were, but this pair is great. Basically, this shoe checks all of my boxes and I'm very pleasantly surprised at how much less they cost compared to other shoes.There seemed to be a mild imperfection in the left heel that made it so I could feel the edge where the insole met the material under it, but that seems to be going away as I wear them more and I'm no longer concerned. In fact, I wore them all day today and didn't notice it at all, so I guess it's gone now. Also, there's a bubble of heel support that is maybe a little aggressive for my usage (sitting at a desk 80% of the time), but it's certainly not enough to steer me away, and I'm guessing it would feel good for a runner. AND, after wearing them all day today, I didn't notice that at all, either, so, never mind, I guess. Also, the tongue slips a tiny bit to the side, but, again, not enough to be an issue or even feel it when it's happened; so, non-issue. I guess I'm saying I was worried these might be problems but they're not.The arch support is good. On a scale of 0% = flat and 100% = waaay too much, then 55% is probably right where I would ideally want it to be in a shoe. These shoes are probably at 46% on that scale. So, still good.In order to be able to slip them on and off without tying/untying, I unlaced it from the top lace. I was worried this would make them feel too loose, but no, they stay in place fine.I only just barely made my final decision 5 days ago so I only have 2–3 days' worth to review here. But it's going very well. So, you're not getting an "I've worn these for six months and here's my report" review from me here, but I hope someone out there still finds value in this. I recommend you give these a try.You've done it, Asics. You've created one of the best shoes I've ever worn.
I've been wearing the same beat up pair of Asics for years and finally decided to get a new pair. I wanted something that felt just like my old ones, and this is as close as I'm going to get. I think the toe box might be just a tad wider in the new ones, because I find myself wiggling my toes a lot which I never did before... But the difference isn't big enough to make the shoes uncomfortable. I have always preferred Asics because they are a little on the narrow side and provide a snug fit around my skinny feet. Please don't ever change this! Folks with wide feet have so many options made just for them - it's hard to find good fitting shoes for narrow feet.
Finally found my sneakers.I had midfoot fusion on right foot. Left is close to needing done. Been searching over a year. I tried all the brands Brooks, New Balance, Hoka, and on and on. Went through three other styles of Asics. I found out you don't need to spend a fortune the Contend 8 X-Wide was what I needed all along. I own four pairs just to switch it up and they feel great. I did add a Dr Scholls no sock insert on top of other inserts, just do to my feet difference's from surgery. Shoes are top notch in my book.
I am a woman who wears a women's size 9.5, which is the equivalent of a men's 8. I tried on dozens of women's sneakers, determined to fins a pair I could use for long hikes without hurting my feet. As I walked through DSW, I saw these Asics. They are terrific! Plenty of padding, excellent support and wide toes. I love the mesh top , which allows me to wiggle my toes in every direction. I wore them for 8 hours or more, and my plantar fasciitis did not bother me.I will wear them a few more days, and probably order at least one more color.

For some reason, with the Contend 8, I HAD TO go up a half size to make them fit like previous versions - the 1/2" material that touches the sole and wraps around the toe box rubbed my toes just below the the of my toenails... maybe other versions it was a little taller to wrap up over my nails a bit?For me, these running shoes see more "running of errands" than "running miles", but I do already have several miles worth of errands, neighborhood walks, and work hours on them in a month's time. When I contacted Asics they had 3 or more different people emailing me the same message on the same thread despite me already sending them the story along with pictures but more associates just kept emailing me like it was the first response again. I asked about returning and if they would cover return shipping since it is a damaged product but they just sent me some generic information and avoided the question. It was super frustrating and I won't be buying from Asics again which is too bad because I been using Asics sneakesr for over 30 years. Perfect! I usually only buy shoes in stores, because I'm worried that there will be some problem with them, they will be too small or too big, they will squeeze or break my heels and fingers if I don't try them on before buying. However, I found either no Asics shoes at all or only a very small selection in the surrounding shops. Unfortunately, I didn't like what there were either. Either they were too colourful, or the soles extended too far back at the heel, etc... Finally, I found three pairs, which I really liked on the Asics web shop, so I ordered one pair of them. When they arrived and I tried them on, it was like Cinderella's glass shoes in the fairy tale. They were fantastic comfortable, so I ordered the other two pairs as well. I love them!
