The GEL-CHALLENGER 13 tennis shoe creates the stability you need when you're covering the baseline, so you can keep your mind focused on controlling the point. The shoe's supportive upper keeps your feet locked-in on the shoe's platform. It creates a reinforced feel during volleys or when you're dropping back to track down deep lob shots. WINGWALL technology is placed in the sidewall to improve stability during side-to-side movements. This feature offers good support, so you can step into your shot and stroke the ball with more pace.

I’ve been wearing Asics’s Challenger series tennis shoes for 5 years now and they do the trick. I love the look of the silver logo on white - very classic. They’re basic but are priced well, especially when on sale. I hear the more expensive lines of Asics tennis shoes are super comfortable but I’m afraid if I try them I may not want to go back to the basic Challenger ones. Fits a bit narrow so I’m wearing a half size larger than normal.

I’ve always had problems with holes wearing in the soles of my right shoes, directly underneath my big toe, regardless of the brand or model. ASICS was probably the one major brand I had yet to try when I bought my first pair of Gel-Challenger-13’s. The first pair, which I bought approximately six months ago, held up so well that I bought a second pair as soon as I noticed my size was in stock, about a month ago, even though I had plenty of life left in the original pair. I’ve never gotten six months out of a pair of shoes. Not only have these been incredibly durable, but they’re very comfortable and light. Without a doubt, this is the best shoe I’ve ever played in. I’ve recommended them to probably every player I know. I have a pair of Challenger 12 shoes, which are extremely comfortable for unlimited play. The newer 13 model has design changes: narrower in the toe box, less breathable mesh, and the footbed applies pressure to the side of my foot. As a result, I can only wear these shoes for at most an hour of play before they are too uncomfortable to wear. I would love to buy more Challenger 12s but cannot find any in Size 8.

Big fan of ASICS normally (I have several pairs), but these have disappointed as they don’t have the shape or quality feel of my last pair of the same shoe. Materials even seem poorer quality than my last Gel-Challenger 13 pair. I’m wearing them in to give them a chance, but after a couple of weeks it’s much of the same. May keep for walking, but probably won’t use for tennis (the reason for the purchase). Great colours though, to end on a positive.
Love these shoes for pickleball. They are light and quick compared to the Adidas shoes I was using that came from my tennis days, but give me the right amount of support for pickleball. My problem with the shoes is the color. After less than a week of play on hard courts, the middle upper and the tongue area showed pink coloration. After another couple of weeks, the pink turned to a brown/grey color. I contacted Asics and their response was to clean the shoes (the response also seemed to refer to them as running shoes which they are not). I love the structure of this shoe, but I would get it in a darker color to avoid this issue.
I’ve been wearing the last two versions of the gel challengers. They have both been outstanding shoes! Soft and comfortable with a low profile giving great feel for the court. These version 13’s are a MAJOR downgrade in comfort. No soft cushion at all to the point I feel like I’m playing barefooted on the court with these. I’m waking up with sore feet in the morning. I’ve had them for almost a month, too. Plenty of time to “break in”. Very disappointed to have wasted a hundred bucks on these!
I bought these for pickleball, playing singles and doubles on an indoor court, wooden surface. They are great! Good grip and feel stable! I’m taking off a star because I used them on an outdoor concrete court and found them to be less plush, resulting in foot pain after playing.I am coming from using low profile, more minimal shoes and needed something with more cushioning to prevent foot aches and pains. On the indoor court, they’re a winner!
I got these shoes a little over two weeks ago. They have dug into the back of my foot since day one, but I thought I could make do and build up calluses on my heels. The back piece on the shoe rubs on my feet and blisters them. But because I’m playing nearly every day my feet never have time to recover and the blisters get worse and worse. The shoe rubs off any moleskin I put on it. The blisters are so painful in matches that they make my footwork suffer. I do not recommend these shoes to anybody considering buying them.
I was excited to try out ASICS tennis shoes. I have ASICS running shoes and they are my absolute favorite. This is my first pair of actual tennis shoes.I ordered 8.5, the same size as my runners but these shoes are an odd fit. They are longer than I expected and incredibly tight over the ball of my foot. I took out the laces and retired them for maximum room and they are still tight. If I still had the box I would return them for a different style. I’ll wear them for this season but will get a different pair in the spring.
I twisted my ankle previously while running baseline playing pickelball with asics running shoes. people recommended me buying tennis shoes, and alot of reviews said this was for pickelball as well. After being these, these are the first tennis shoes I own and I certainly a feel a difference in the heel and lateral stabilization! absolutely recommend
