This unit replaced an aging RT-AC68U node in AIMesh configuration that was rock-solid, but starting to show it's age in terms of throughput. The AX-5400's work pretty well but I will say with the 160Mhz channels, the range is not as good as the AC's 80Mhz channel. The router's packet processing speed is good and the LACP bonding support on the Docsis interface is a nice upgrade for those with Comcast Downlink > 1Gbps. For some reason, some of my hosts seem to become disassociated over time and require re-connection (maybe every couple weeks). Not sure if this is firmware or something else in the wireless configuration. The RGB is ok - it's just a light band on the face of the unit. There is no wall-mount option for this model and it can't be turned on it's side so it takes up a bit more surface space than the older units that could be tilted on their side or wall-mounted.

Pros: aiMesh is the best mesh network solution. The QOS is great and the speeds are awesome. Love the RGB as well makes the router visibly interesting.Cons: A 2.5G or 5G Ethernet port would be nice

So happy I started to use this one instead of DNA's standard! Finally have a full speed for which I pay (1 Gbit) and zero disconnections. Easiest possible set-up basically plug and play. Supports all our 12+ devices effortlessly. Lights look cool :) Highly recommend!
Currently sitting on fiber 250/250mbit, there are no strange things at all with the speeds over the AX band, but the line can be maxed out. The range is extremely good and has maximum range throughout the apartment & also outside. The RGB function can be switched off.Doing well with security features (phishing, spam, adware, Two-Way Intrusion Preventions & Parental Controls.)
Amazing speed and range. Great value for money. Wonderful UI plus core of future mesh network as needed.
I bought this to enhance my T-Mobile home internet and it certainly upgraded my download from 200+, now constantly getting 300 up to 600 Mbps. It works great even behind walls.
Best ASUS router I have used, pure Wi-Fi 6 goodness. After setting up the GS-AX5400, I was easily able to connect to my existing GT-AC2900 to set up an AiMesh network. My GT-AC2900 would cover the whole house, but did have some weak spots, and occasional drop out. I now have solid coverage through out the house with the GS-AX5400 as the mothership. I have a 1 gig fiber connection, and typically get 940 mbps upload and download speeds directly from the gateway. I am, getting 650mbps upload and download Wi-Fi speeds anywhere in the house with this system. Absolutely Incredible performance, do not hesitate to buy.
This router is a beast it is Wi-Fi 6 and it will double if not triple your speed if you have one gig coming into your home you will have 2 to 3 gig once you get this router hooked up and in place it is a beast it is awesome and I would recommend this router to anybody that wants to double or triple the speed and if there a gamer this is really more important for them as well tab is awesome and I wish I wouldve bought this a year ago so I would recommend it yes on a scale of 1 to 10 its a 10 being awesome thank you the router is wonderful its awesome very good well-made plenty of ports for your ethernet cables fantastic router Saus
Upgraded from rt-ac68s. These support the 160mhz channels and have a much faster cpu as well as support for LACP link aggregation between the router and cable modem. The modem portion is good. Some of the AC and WiFi 6 devices will periodically stop working in 5Ghz. Would be nice to have detachable antennas - theyre fixed on this model.
