I hardly every write reviews, but this controller really disappointed me. Huge ROG fanboy and usually overlook small issues. First of the price is TGH. I bought it knowingly that it was overly expensive so I cant really complain about that.The issue is that most features are stripped away unless you plug the controller in. Then you can build your button mappings/profiles, change lighting and unplug it and use it wirelessly.Speaking of wirelessly, the USB dongle it comes with doesn't work in PC. It pairs fine but none of the buttons do anything except the xbox button brings up an overlay. It wasn't until i paired it with bluetooth on my PC that it actually did anything. Maybe the USB dongle is just if you want to use it with xbox? It turns off after a few seconds though so it's really only razzle dazzle when you first turn it on.Otherwise you use it to change profiles, check the status or put it in Wireless, Bluetooth or Console mode.Battery life seems decent i've got probably 8-10 hours on it now and not had to charge it yet.Weight is pretty light. Compared to my xbox Elite and even Xbox standard controllers, this is much lighter.So ya... it's an Ok option in the marketplace but for the money you're getting a lot of razzle dazzle . If you just want a solid built controller i think the Elite2 Core is probably a better value and build quality.

The bumpers and directional pad are soft and less clicky than your standard X box series controller. The face buttons felt perfect in my opinion and had some nice travel and tactility. I did dislike the decision on ASUS end to print the button letters rather than the 3d bubble lettering weve come to enjoy on standard Xbox controllers. The controller grips are made of gritty hard plastic that you could double as a nail file. The controller feels less premium than what you would expect from a product that costs $180 bucks. The best feature has to be the ability to use an included 2.4ghz dongle that is housed on the rear of the controller itself tucked nicely beneath a magnetic door. This cuts the input latency down quite a bit compared to bluetooth, which is also offered here. While using Armoury Crate, I couldn't figure out why the software was not detecting my controller. Turns out, it needed to be connected via the included (very-long) braided usb type c cable in order to start configuring my profiles, which could be saved to the controller's internal memory to use in wireless mode. For those of you hoping that the contoller back buttons could be mapped to keyboard commands media controls and macros, it cant be done as of yet through their Armoury Crate software but im sure they could always make that an option in future updates. This would be extremely useful for use with the Rog Ally while docked when it releases. All in all, can I recommend this controller? Sure. For $180 dollars? Not really. I'd wait for a sale because all you're really being taxed on is fancy rgb lights and a mostly useless oled screen for which the wow factor will fade rather quickly. I'm giving this 3 stars because it does have features you will not find on any other controller, it's just not priced right for what you're getting.

On other controllers with four rear buttons, I can use both my middle and index fingers to press two buttons each.Overall, I think the Asus ROG Raikiri Pro gaming controller has some potential but it needs some improvements in design and ergonomics. It's not a bad controller, but it's not a great one ergonomically. I'm keeping it because I'm a bit of an Asus fan boy, but I hope they release a larger second edition.

Also, this isn't a controller you buy for your ten year old. This is meant for the player that will want to "DIG INTO THE MEAT AND POTATOES" if you will.That being said, this isn't meant to come age as age discrimination, however unless the child is actively involved, with a bit more than average computing, then they may grasp how to take full advantage of this device. The screen is great for switching between Bluetooth and 2.4 RF, but once you have done that it's pretty useless.As a PC gamer, I don't care about the fact it can only connect to an XBox through a wire... but if I did have an XBox I'd find that pretty annoying. The quality of the buttons and sticks. They feel cheaper in comparison to the current Elite model Microsoft offers. The trigger switch feels like I am going to break it every time I switch from playing a fps to a racer. I have an issue with not being able to tighten the joysticks like I can on my Elite controller, which also goes in with a price issue for me. For the price I feel like I should be able to do much more on the controller, or at least be on par with the Elite. Final issue is the bluetooth for it seems very buggy and laggy. Using the dongle is way smoother. Honestly I am struggling on wanting to return it and just get my money back to get the non pro model instead, just get my money back period, or sending it out to have the double clicking warranted. I love ASUS, my entire pc build and monitors are ASUS products. But the controller feels like just an overpriced Power A option with a screen on it. I would not recommend the pro model at least.
For me, a long time xbox user, it’s gets the job done. As in the ergonomics work decently well, not great, the official Xbox elite series 2 controller is definitely better in terms of build quality and usability. The QA on the series 2 is terrible though so this definitely a worthy secondary option for those tired of busted elite controllers, like me. The back paddles are placed awkwardly on the back, useable, but definitely not super comfortable. The oled screen is very much a gimmick, entirely cosmetic and doesn’t even add that much. RGB is pretty cool looking though. Sticks, d-pad, and buttons feel good, the d-pad is the one thing that this controller has over the series 2, while not hot-swappable it feels much better than the series 2 d-pad. As in the ergonomics work decently well, not great, the official Xbox elite series 2 controller is definitely better in terms of build quality and usability. A big loss on this controller is the lack of direct to console wireless, if you wanna use this controller on an Xbox it has to be wired. That’s probably my least favorite thing about it. If you want something that looks cool and is reasonably comfortable to use, then I’d recommend, though I also recommend waiting for a sale, as it is quite pricey as is, somewhere around 100$-120$ would be a good price for this.
The controller itself look great, really like the RGB. I dont like that you have to connect it to the Armor Crate app on the PC in order to change the light pattern. The option to be able to switch it via the built in oled screen would be great.I was disappointed with the feel of the controller. It feels like any generic plastic controller. It does not have a premium feel you would expect based on the cost. Mine also had a small creak on the right side under the trigger. You can feel some of the plastic creak, as if something didnt snap in place or didn't quite fit properly.Having to use the USB-C cable foe the xbox series x is not a big deal, would prefer if it was wireless but I knew that ahead of time. I came from an Xbox Elite controller and the placement of the paddles sat right where your fingers rest. On the Raikiri, they sit much further in so I kept having to move my finger a decent amount in order to press them. It was very uncomfortable and I used it daily, for several hours for a week. I really tried to give it time to get used to the placement but I was not able to. Hopefully future versions will either change the placement of the paddles, or add paddles that can be turned so they sit in a different position or add replaceable ones. Overall not a bad product but it was just not for me.
It took me over 4 hours to get this setup on the asus rog ally. I returned it!Firstly the drivers need to be downloaded to the devices as an update to use Bluetooth. The instruction manual does not explicitly tell you how to get the controller into Bluetooth mode.The setting on the controller need to be set for this to work. Using the on board controller screen you need to follow the prompts to tell it to operate in Bluetooth mode.Got that working after about 45 minutes of research, ok how do I enable the back buttons… after another hour you need to PLUG THE CONTROLLER IN and do an update on armory crate which introduces a new option under the settings panel. Ok figured this out, awaiting the files to be transferred via cable. It took 10 minutes..Ok enabled the back button simply set them to other button on the controller like LB/RB, LTC/B button..I’m in about 2 hours at this point, l fire up my game and the button are not being recognized. Never worked!! Also the dead zone of this controller matches the broken deadzone of the rog ally build in thumb sticks.I simply went back and returned it.
