I purchased the first monitor around 7/29/2021. The metal stand had a scratch, but there was no damage to the box - great quality control. There was also a stuck pixel - nice bright yellowish color. I could have lived with the scratched stand, but for a $1500 monitor I sort of expected a little better quality.I returned the monitor 8/6/2021 and got a -$200 price match. I was thrilled that the price had been reduced.I set up the replacement monitor and it worked great! After an hour, there was a click and the monitor powered off. It won't power up again.Somewhat dissapointed, escpecially for the price.MicroCenter took back the first monitor without a problem. There are also some reviews on the interwebs that say these monitors are great. In my opinion, these monitors are garbage and not worth a dime, let alone the time I've wasted and will waste again, driving 20 miles to return this garbage.

This monitor legitly changed my life. It's huge with HDR. My employees and I can sit around and see everything. We can see product in colors that the vendors intended us to see. No more guessing about whether products will match color. Video quality is amazing. Gaming minus CS:GO is amazing. For CS:GO, it played the same as previous generation monitors. For whatever reason, I was expecting super smooth. However, as I am aging, I can't keep up with the young cats on FPS's so I'm planning on moving onto other games anyway. Overall, if you're on the fence about this monitor and you're currently using multiple monitors, just get this one to save desk space. It's overwhelming at first, but you'll get used to it.

When I first started up this monitor, by default Windows was using 100% scale (normal native resolution), and immediately noticed that fonts for things like icons and web pages weren't very clear. By increasing the windows scale to 125% and using larger fonts where I could, I was able to mostly avoid this issue. However, the worst was yet to come. There worst part is the amount of blur/ghosting/smearing for things like mouse movements, scrolling text and web pages, and dragging windows around the screen. None of the Overdrive settings are adequate to offset this, and in fact the highest setting significantly overshoots, creating reverse ghosting. The monitor is ridiculously bright, which may be a benefit for some users, but I had to significantly turn it down. The monitor doesn't dim the image by lowering the backlighting globally, but rather by scaling down the image luminosity, which makes the ghosting/smearing far worse, by additionally distorting colors. For a monitor that is priced as a premium gaming display, this is quite disappointing, and unacceptable. The picture quality and color reproduction are quite good, and as long as you're looking at static images, videos, and most gaming, it'll be OK. But in Windows, it's not OK. And for any games that have a large amount of darkness (space games, for instance), any small details that move relative to the screen can get lost, such as stars in the background. With some google searching, I was able to finally find some reviews and discussions about this, and how this appears to just be the way it is with this model. I'm surprised there isn't more backlash. I suspect that anyone buying it just for first person shooters and the like probably haven't noticed anything wrong. But I can't escape the fact that my 16-year-old 30" LCD that uses antiquated DVI-D and has none of the modern features did not have these problems.I'm returning this monitor.

Let me begin with the reason I bought this monitor.I work from home as a software engineer and needed a larger 4k monitor to handle all the apps I have up throughout the day.I also play a ton of PC games, mostly RPGs with a fair bit of text, and wanted something that would really shine with my build. The needs of both sides shouldn't be as difficult to fulfill, but it seems to be the case when searching for a ~43" 4kp144+ monitor and it became ABUNDANTLY clear once booting up the monitor for some basic tasks. This monitor is terrible for viewing text, especially text in any sort of dark themed application. There's the issue of text bleeding, leaving either a jagged appearance when you crank up sharpness and/or contrast. And then there's the real deal breaker ... MoreLet me begin with the reason I bought this monitor.I work from home as a software engineer and needed a larger 4k monitor to handle all the apps I have up throughout the day.I also play a ton of PC games, mostly RPGs with a fair bit of text, and wanted something that would really shine with my build. There's significant 'ghosting' going on whenever you have any sort of non-block text going on. The best way I can describe it is it's like the text goes out of focus when there's movement then pops back when it stops. This can be as simple as scrolling a webpage, or trying to read a tool tip in a game while you're running.I've dug through the nether regions of the internet trying to find something to help resolve the issue to no avail. Tried all the basics like swapping ports and cables ... went from DP1.4 to HDMI ... turned off DSC ... etc....There isn't a single configuration available on the monitor that improves the issue. The only real plus side here is the refresh rate, which can be found elsewhere. You can't really compliment the HDR capabilities when you have pixels bleeding all over.I've included a few photos that capture what I'm talking about. Read this, take a look at the photos, read other reviews, and judge for yourself -- save yourself the buyer's remorse I've suffered.
Very nice monitor. Great response time and lots of inputs. The USB input is particularly useful as I don't have to run my USB camera all the way back to my PC. The only downside is I wanted to use a wall mount but Asus used M4 screws for the VESA and 100x100, which is quite small for a monitor of this size. I had to purchase an extra adapter plate because the wall mount didn't go down to 100x100. The wall mount shipped with M6 as the smallest screws so I also had to purchase another mounting kit with the M4 screws. If a monitor is larger than 24", it should use larger VESA configuration and larger screws.
This monitor corrects all of the issues that were wrong with the XG438Q. Does it cost $500 more? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes.First and foremost, the text issue is resolved. Whether they are using a different subpixel layout or not, it is resolved. Color accuracy has also been improved and actually comes from the factory color calibrated although I still used a Spyder X Elite to calibrate it myself since I have other monitors that all need to work together. The flickering issue is resolved. With the 1000 nits, the HDR is so much better. I've actually had to lower the nits sometimes because it is simply too bright. Uniformity is typical for a VA panel. Blacks are definitely not as crushed as the XG438Q. I also had a previous issue with the XG438Q where if you had it ... MoreThis monitor corrects all of the issues that were wrong with the XG438Q. Blacks are definitely not as crushed as the XG438Q. I also had a previous issue with the XG438Q where if you had it sat at HDR content in Windows 10 that if you went full screen with your content it would sometimes cause the other monitors that were not HDR capable to go into an HDR mode which of course is bad for those monitors.Final thoughts... make sure you put this at least 3 feet away. Make sure you have at least an RTX 2070 then you can drive 4k games on this thing at 144hz thanks to the compression. Make sure you have the correct 1.4 DP cable as well.Hope this was helpful to you!
As a gaming monitor, fantastic! 4K @ 144hz is amazing. It’s not factory calibrated, don’t be fooled. I fiddled with the settings for several hours before I was satisfied. As a work monitor? Terrible. Text is kind of hard to read. This may be the BGR pixel config or the fact that it’s a VA panel. I’ve adjusted it as much as possible but text is still a bit blurry. Increasing windows resizing to 150% helps a lot and just zooming into pages on browsers as well. It’s not a Apple quality monitor but it’s still awesome to have such a large 4K high refresh rate display. Make sure your desk lets you sit back far enough!
I bought this monitor about 5 months ago. Im sitting here debating if I want to go through all the bother again to send it in for warranty work again. I sent the monitor in to get fixed the last week of Nov 2022 and it took a month to get the monitor back only to find it is worse now than before. They didn't fix anything. Pro tip for anyone hoping they fixed the monitor problem and still buy this monitor make sure to keep the box you will need it, a box from Fedx will cost you $65.00. for anyone that sees this message, I would bet your monitor is broken and you don't know it. The color artifacts only happen at 144hz and most people don't even realize the monitor will do 144hz with the correct cable. The color artifacts only happen at 144hz and most people don't even realize the monitor will do 144hz with the correct cable. I have tried three different DP cables, the original that comes with the monitor, a high-dollar 8K cable and I just tried a really expensive 16K cable they all do the same. So for anyone that owns this monitor try this, set the monitor for 144hz (can't do 144HZ with the HDMI cable you have to use the DP display port cable), with resolution scaling 100% go to youtube and watch just about any outdoor video like this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDvizCUZh9g once it starts playing maximize the viewport then click restore viewport maybe grab the corner and change the youtube video page window size and see if the colors don't blotch for you.
I really like this pg43uq monitor/tv.Its very large, and you will NOT be able to keep this at normal monitor distance (at least 3-4ft from your face is perfect). The colors are accurate, gsync is nice, HDR 1000 "WOW Perfect" Games that Support HDR look fantastic, better than my Sony XBR 900E 'HDR 600".The remote control is freaking perfect for using 2-4 devices hooked at one time to this. (Example: Desktop DP, Laptop DP, PS4 HDMI, Xbox HDMI). No more futzing w/ tiny buttons on the bezel of the monitor to switch inputs. PIP is nifty but not all that useful.Gaming is smooth, and I don't notice any motion blur. I push this w/ 2080 Super, and tend to max out my settings at 4k for story based games (keeping it above 48FPS, as thats when Gsync stops working). For ... MoreI really like this pg43uq monitor/tv.Its very large, and you will NOT be able to keep this at normal monitor distance (at least 3-4ft from your face is perfect). I push this w/ 2080 Super, and tend to max out my settings at 4k for story based games (keeping it above 48FPS, as thats when Gsync stops working). For MP FPS games, I leave at 4k, but scale back some options like Anti-Aliasing, Ambient Occlusion, Shadows, to push around 70-80FPS. For my personal taste its fine at that FPS because Gsync picks up the slack; I'm not trying to be a PRO Gamer. With that being said, it has some issues with text. If you leave the scaling at 100% it can be hard to read, but who in the right mind keeps it at 100% at 4ft away. Its like trying to read the writing on a penny at 4ft away. (you could keep 100% scaling at 1-2ft, but you're just moving your head around at that point).White Text on a Black back ground can look fuzzy, at 100% scaling, I tend to leave it at 150% (4ft away) seems to be the sweet spot. Can also be a smidge blurry when scrolling. But none of this appears while gaming. Conclusion:Fixing the the text with white on black would make this a 5/5, but its still a dang good entertainment Monitor/TV.
Dead pixel new out of box. Fan constantly whirring up and down. Fan is the loudest thing in the room. It is always on even when monitor is turned off, the only way to turn the fan off is to unplug the power cable. HDR turns itself off and wont turn back on without reseating cables. I'll never buy another Asus product after this junk monitor.
