The OLED screen was pretty stunning to see in real life. As for the insides of this computer it comes with an AMD Ryzen Ai 7 processor and Radeon graphics card. I’ve actually have only ever used Intel products, but this processor was actually really good and speedy in anything I was doing from simple web browsing to using Power Automate. It made me think I was making a bad decision to pick Intel until this point in life. It also contains some name brand audio components including a Harman/Kardon Dolby Atmos speaker system. I am sort of a self proclaimed audiophile and at the end of the day I was impressed with the sound quality coming from this small device. I really liked the emphasis on AI within this device. In addition to the AI AMD chip they also included various other AI features such as an AI noise canceling microphone and the Windows Copilot Keyboard shortcut. It also included a solid 512GB SD drive and 16GB of RAM which is all anyone really needs unless you are doing significant processes every day. The inclusion of a usb c 3 and 4 and wifi 6e also shows this is a laptop built for today and the future. The battery life was pretty good and seemed to live up to the time they promised on the box. A few things that I would improve on would be an exterior that does not pick up oils from fingers so quickly. I noticed I got smudges on the exterior right away. It also took me a good 5 minutes to find the power button, but a good manual showing where it is could solve that quickly. Overall, this is a top of the line laptop for 2024 and I would recommend it to anyone looking to invest in a new computer for the future.

I’m basing my review by comparing it to my current MacBook also just the Zenbook itself. To start- I am so over the moon with this product. The Zenbook is personally one of the best laptops I have ever owned (and I’ve been using a MacBook for the last 4 years) The only downside for me is that I cannot connect my iPhone to it to receive notifications and send texts on like I can with my MacBook. BUT if you do have an android you can luckily use that feature. Still learning how to use this laptop as it’s pretty different than what I’m use to. The Battery life is INSANE! I can play games on it for 7+ hours and only 50% battery drained that entire time. The Performance is top tier and the Display Quality is crystal clear. Only thing that I didn't like about the laptop is it doesn't have any Micro/SD port available and the power button and enter button is too small that sometimes gets hit when I'm reaching for the 'prtscn' or 'delete' button. I prefer if the power button is on the side or somewhere away from the keyboard. The number pad gets enabled on the mousepad unintentionally and is quite annoying. The keyboard and trackpad are decent, which I really like and it also includes a calculator in the touchpad that has different settings which is very helpful if you are a student, good for school use. I love the modern stylish look of it and it never goes out of style. All in all I am happy with this brand and if I ever buy another laptop in the future I would still choose Asus.

Faulty product - not the service I'd expect from John Lewis

I bought this laptop back in April at a John Lewis store after having seen and tested it there. Generally I am happy with the laptop itself (battery, speed etc, the only thing that I don't like that much is the pen that comes with it for the screen/not using it). However, from the day I bought it, the trackpad of the laptop keeps making slight clicking noises when you use it/move your finger across it. I am 99% certain its a hardware issue as it sounds like something is a bit lose below it, especially as the issue is only there around 80% of the time of using it. I bought the laptop as I really needed one so could not return/replace it in the first 30days. On top of that, the laptop was sent back still set up with their testing software and everything, so I had to reset it myself again. I then brought it to an independent repair shop who did agree that it looks like there is something amiss with the hardware, but said they cannot open it without affecting my warranty.Now I am stuck with a fairly expensive laptop where it is very annoying to use the trackpad (imagine constant clicking noise the entire time you scroll or move your mouse) with no way of repairing it as John Lewis is pretending there is no issue, and I cannot have a third party do it myself as then I would completely forfeit my warranty on the product (which is pretty much useless given JL is not honouring it anyways).I am quite disappointed as I usually turn to JL for all my larger appliances/tech purchases because the customer service usually is excellent. However, I found that the technical support appears to be a completely different team and is a mess to deal with (it took me 4 phone calls and having to re-enter my information, then a failed attempt for them to pick it up and me in the end having to deliver it myself to get the repair scheduled etc)On the laptop, its a nice laptop, I can generally recommend it. I would just not buy any laptop from John Lewis anymore.

Gorgeous Laptop!

I spent a lot of time looking at reviews, unboxing, benchmarking etc for laptops of this size and with this spec. EVERYTIME this one comes out top or close top, competitors are also a few hundred £ more expensive. The description is wrong, this UX3405MA Ultra 9 only comes with a 1tb SSD. Just to double confirm this Laptop also comes with 32gb LPDDR5x soldered to the motherboard, this means the laptop is at its max upgradability from day 1, but the benefit of having DDR5x is it runs much faster than removeable.The screen is FABULOUS! Keyboard feels great, perfect amount of key travel, white backlight too. Track pad feels nice, love the NUMPAD feature on the pad. Barring that, as a right-hander, I'd prefer to have the cords that I most frequently have to plug in while working to be sticking out of the left side of the laptop where they won't get in my way.PgUp, PgDn, Home, End - not for small hands---------I frequently want to jump up or down a page or move the cursor to the beginning or end of a line. These functions are combined with the arrow keys, activated when you first press and hold the Fn key. However, with the Fn key and the arrow keys positioned on opposite sides of the keyboard, I need two hands for this.WHAT I LIKE:- Despite its light weight, the laptop feels and looks solidly built.- The images are vibrant and crisp.- The touchpad just... works. The touchpad on its predecessor was fussy, so I appreciate this.- The number keypad / touchpad combo isn't necessary, of course, but it works well so far, and is potentially convenient. The only thing I would change is to have the number pad light white to match the backlighting for the keyboard.- While - as mentioned above - the keyboard layout isn't ideal for small hands, I otherwise find the typing experience pleasant.- The 14-inch size is right in the Goldilocks zone for me. Its light weight and small footprint means it can be used comfortably everywhere, and it slips into a regular-sized bag easily. But unlike a smaller laptop I've had, its keyboard doesn't feel cramped, and I haven't had to do additional scrolling or zooming out to see everything.MEH:- Just FYI, the battery life isn't that great.

Too much screen glare and body flex

The first cannot be fixed whereas the second may be specific to my deviceFirst the laptop screen is obnoxiously glossy which makes it difficult to read indoors when in a brightly lit room with how reflective it is even at maximum brightness as it lacks any kind of anti-glare coating. For a nearly $1500 iGPU laptop this is unacceptable, OLED or not.Second the laptop looks great but there is considerable flex despite it being an all metal construction. The issue appear to be the way the plastic shell used to mount the motherboard to the system. As a result opening the laptop lid produces what can only be described as a crinkly rice-crispy sort of sound as the motherboard flexes with the hinge action of opening the lid. Zenbook UX3405 - Great machine for my work

I needed a new laptop for work, so I went for the Intel-i9/32Gb/1Tb version of the Zenbook.The metallic case, lid styling and deep blue colour look great, and the laptop feels light. The matt surface looks like it won't show up fingerprints, but unfortunately it does ... a lot ...The OLED screen is brilliant - I'd forgotten what "black" looked like until I bought an OLED TV, now it feels the same with this laptop. I'll have to be careful about image retention (which the literature about OLED constantly warns about), but haven't seen any evidence of this as yet.The keyboard (with switchable back-lighting) feels good, but is a little bit too compact - many dual-purpose keys, and the key feels too small, but I guess I'll get used to that with time. I don't use a numeric keypad much, but on this laptop it's projected on to the mousepad when switched on.I couldn't justify the price increase for an NVidia graphics card, so as I'm not a gamer, I went for integrated graphics. Of course I'd forgotten that with this option, the Video memory is carved out of standard memory, so I was doubly glad I went for 32Gb rather than 16Gb.Ports are minimal - 2xUSB-C (but 1 needed for power), 1xUSB-A, however there is 1xHDMI and a mini-jack for audio. No SD-card reader, but I guess I can always add a hub to get more ports.It's early days, but on the whole I'm very happy with this purchase.
