The laptop works excellently. The two screens and features make it very intuitive to use and I ended up liking the display quite a lot.Pros: Two screens work greatExcellent HardwareGreat price for what you getFun to useCons: Runs a bit hot when you do high performance tasks, while the fans are great, I'm worried about the longevity of them as accessing said fans to clean in the future may be a challenge for this laptop.14 screens, while definitely a great, I wish they were a bit larger. If I'm able to I will update again about 6 months into using it.What I hope for in the future:. Bigger screens, 15.6 would be a great jump. Improved cooling, since the laptop stands up, having an underneath or side cooling fan/vacuum wont work, thus you are fully reliant on the laptops abilities alone. Hopefully future technology in this area will allow superior options to fit inside the laptops form factor.. Double Double OLED screens, with the new OLED tech seen by apple, it would be cool to see this integrated in future models. Additionally, having both screens have the same display would be great.Superior GPU: This would be an absolute powerhouse of a laptop if it could handle this in the future with no long term issues. Would be perfect for data analysts or gamers.PEN: I have not tested the pen yet as I don't have a reason to use it, that said the touch screen on this laptop is pretty accurate with the finger lol.I say 4.5/5 stars as the CPU heats up quite a bit when running medium to heavier tasks and the screens aren't really 14 display. Once again, the display may be to my ignorance on the lingo, but none the less is a bit misleading. That said, the screen size works for what I do using it for statistics, data, etc.If you're debating on getting this laptop, you will be very satisfied with it. If you want it for gaming, I suggest you get a laptop with solid under vents and better GPU for improved performance and cooling in those areas.

The trackpad on every initial touch is laggy causing the cursor to jump across the screen. Extremely frustrating since it’s the most used mechanic on a laptop. When using the secondary screen under the keyboard, the brightness keys on the keyboard or the slider in the OS will control it. This causes it to be permanently set to max brightness causing eye strain and inability to focus on projects I wanted to use the dual screens for in the first place.Asus customer service isn’t great. I have to explain the problem to a new person every single time the suggested fix from the last associate didn’t solve the issue. There is no way to have a consistent support ticket. I wanted this to work but it has been a less than pleasurable experience. Feels like they just took my money and it’s my problem now. The restocking fee is also absurd. If I chose to return the product it still would be an expensive mistake being all issues are manufacturer defects. Thanks ASUS!

I spent a lot of time looking at reviews, unboxing, benchmarking etc for laptops of this size and with this spec. EVERYTIME this one comes out top or close top, competitors are also a few hundred £ more expensive. The description is wrong, this UX3405MA Ultra 9 only comes with a 1tb SSD. Just to double confirm this Laptop also comes with 32gb LPDDR5x soldered to the motherboard, this means the laptop is at its max upgradability from day 1, but the benefit of having DDR5x is it runs much faster than removeable. The screen is FABULOUS! Keyboard feels great, perfect amount of key travel, white backlight too. Track pad feels nice, love the NUMPAD feature on the pad. I chose the Ponder Blue, yes its a bit fingerprinty, but worth it!Every online unboxing or review you watch of this model will show it coming with an Asus Pen 2.0 and the Asus Laptop Sleeve in the box, this does NOT come with these. Which is a little disappointing, I expect those only come with the laptop if bought direct from Asus. I plan to contact VERY first to have this confirmed.I took advantage of the 20% off when buying through VERY PAY, that 20% made the laptop a steal, I had to put a mask on when pressing pay, it felt criminal. Annoyingly I forget to add a Bluetooth mouse and laptop sleeve or bag, would have been nice to get 20% off a few more things. Make use of that 20%!! Don't waste it.The battery life is nuts, I'm writing this review at 50% battery and it says I have 6h and 38 minutes to go. WHAT????!!! I also have Wallpaper Engine running with an OLED friendly animated wallpaper.Other laptops in the running:HP Omen 14Asus Zephyrus G14Dell XPS 14MSI Stealth 14 StudioLG Gram 14ROG Strix G16

I did plenty of research before buying the ASUS ZenBook Duo, and I haven’t come across many of the negative things others mention. The physical keyboard is fine; no typo issues for me. The pogo pins on the bottom of the keyboard don’t scratch surfaces. Some say the dual screens have different brightness levels, but this is more about viewing angles. You can adjust the brightness independently, so it’s not a problem. There was an issue with the bottom screen flickering when plugging in the charger, but an update fixed that. The dual screens are stunning, but battery life takes a hit in duo mode—about 4-5 hours. In single screen mode, it’s way better. They're is a light sensor near camera, like phones, brightness automatically changes as you work in dark place or under sunlight. 2-screen feature is amazing. I connected 2 monitors and I got 4 screen at the same time. 2 of them up-down externaks are on the left and right. That's really amazing. Unfortunately It didn't support the 5th one :D We use it for coding. Even using it alone, without external monitors, 2-screen really matters for coding or working, writing articles etc. If you wanna hear about cons, firstly, I wish best buy had included the asus pen and a suitcase. And i don't understand why i9 model is not sold in Canada. Next problem, everything works well with windows, but not for Ubuntu. For example, just for Ubuntu, there is a software problem with the touchscreen of the second screen (under the keyboard). ubuntu's kernel doesn't recognize it properly, kernel 6.5 doesn't support the second screen. Only 6.6 6.7 and 6.8 recognize the second screen with a touch screen calibration problem. When you touch the second screen, it moves on the first screen. so I had to use a code to calibrate second screens touchscreen feature. Next problem with Ubuntu, When you take the keyboard out, airplane mode is open automatically. So, each time you should make it disable to use wifi and bloetooth. Next problem with Ubuntu is the Second screen can be active or passive just from the display settings, not automatically with the keyboard out. Keyboard lights doesn't work with Ubuntu, some fn buttons not working neither, Those problems just for Ubuntu, I think asus or Ubuntu will prepare an update for that soon. Some programs haven't been published yet in Ubuntu. Windows works perfect. lastly I bought it thanks to BestBuy and Fairstone's payment option, no payment for 12 months. That's crazy. I have to thank you for this opportunity.
This is a very good idea that was executed reasonably well. There’s a few small issues; as all the reviews say, it has a slow SSD so it often lags for the first 30-60 seconds after startup. After that it runs normally, but it can be annoying. Also, I noticed on task manager that the memory is often over 50% utilized with no programs open. The “digital keyboard” and screen expert apps were using the most memory, and they start automatically when you turn on the computer (they can’t be turned off in startup apps, I tried). This is another minor annoyance, but overall this is a good laptop. The utility of having two monitors on a 14 inch laptop is definitely worth the price. This laptop is a great bang for your buck if you know what you’re looking for and wanting in a laptop. I knew that I wanted this laptop based on YouTube reviews and its specs. I will use this laptop honestly for school and just in general for productivity, with it having 2 screens. I really like this laptop; however, I haven’t had that much time to play with it and transfer all of my stuff from my old laptop onto it. I had this laptop for about a week and some days now. So, my review could change later but hopefully not. In addition, I would say that I was going to take it back to exchange it for a new one because the screens weren’t the same out of the box and that kind of annoyed me because this laptop is a decent price. I have before and after pictures with Max brightness and Min brightness.
This machine is designed as a dual screen productivity machine but it is too slow. The form factor is great and I did not have build quality issues that others have reported. It can not run simple citrix workspace apps that a much old PC runs flawlessly. Worse yet, when in dual screen mode, it is even slower. I was not running intensive programs. I tried to get help. ASUS customer support had me do the following (even though the computer was less than 24 hours old): 1. Check Bios Version 2. Reset Bios 3. Update graphics drivers 4. Windows update 5. Factory reset PC 6. Return PC to store because they have no other troubleshooting steps.Other issues: The screens are not the same brightness. They also have slightly different color profiles. This computer does not live up to the specs. It might be a software issue that is fixed at some point, but I can't recommend this for the price.
I want to absolutely love this device. When this device works, its the best multitasking work/ study device I've ever used. But I cant, purely due to the lag during startup.Almost certainly has to do with how the my asus app interacts with drivers. There is noticeable frame drops, like 15fps during the first minute of re-connection / startup. The APP is the only thing that interacts with Framerate settings, and other startup tasks that leads me to diagnose it as the problem. One other possibility is drivers dealing with dual screens.Lookup forum discussions and multiple people dealing with this issue. In most cases, a clean boot will result in a quick boot. When this device works, its the best multitasking work/ study device I've ever used. But I cant, purely due to the lag during startup.Almost certainly has to do with how the my asus app interacts with drivers. There is noticeable frame drops, like 15fps during the first minute of re-connection / startup. The main issue seems to be with the hibernation and agressive sleep that the device employs.I'm personally willing to deal with it due to how great the other elements of the device are, but I recognize most others will find this unacceptable.Frankly embarrassing to share how cool the device is if it lags when you're showing it off.
I purchased a Zenbook Duo Model #UX8406MA-PS99T on April 2, 2024. The laptop was delivered April 10, 2024 and I began using it a few days later. I have purchased several ASUS routers previously, but this was my first ASUS laptop. The laptop is well built. The hinges and stand are solid, no flat parts are warped, and the magnetic connection between the keyboard and bottom screen snaps into place securely. I was worried about these last 2 items since the keyboard is quite thin. There are sufficient connectors for every device that I need to connect to.I have not had the laptop long enough to comment on the battery life. The charger is small and efficient. I would have liked the charger prongs to fold down which would make packing easier. The touch screens work ... MoreI purchased a Zenbook Duo Model #UX8406MA-PS99T on April 2, 2024. I would have liked if the touch pen could be stored inside the laptop.I've taken the laptop on a trip overseas which involved airplanes, trains, ferries, and bicycles. It's handled the jostling fine. The dual screen is a neat idea and the reason I bought it. ASUS has thought through how folks will use 2 screens. I am pleased with the how it's has been implemented.I would be better if the laptop could be able to be folded into a tent orientation. All in all I am pleased with the unit and have already recommended it to a friend.Full disclosure: I am receiving a warranty extension from ASUS for giving this feedback.BruceBAugust 12, 2024
