I purchased the LCD-XC from Justin at HeadAmp. Communication was great, as was the shipping speed (FAST!).The (2021 Creator edition) arrives in a sealed audeze cardboard box - meaning headamp never opened it. Sweet.Inside, the 'economy travel case' is stored, along with a nice note from HeadAmp. I have owned Premium edition Audeze cases before, and I actually prefer the Economy travel case they've recently started shipping creator packs with. It is smaller, durable.... makes sense. The included wire is stellar as well - Audeze knows how to make a proper stock cable - best in the Biz.On to the headphones themselves -These headphones have got to be one of the best values in higher-end audio for over-ear.Their stock tonality is useable without any EQ added ... MoreI purchased the LCD-XC from Justin at HeadAmp. I think they're fine. I understand these have gone down some ~100 grams vs the original wood cup version, though I never wore those. Don't let the weight stop you :)All in all, a stellar experience.Thank you Headamp!

These headphones are absolutely remarkable, I feel like I'm listening and wearing my favorite speakers on my head! They have exceptional clarity detail and good base response. Extremely well-made it says they come with leather carrying case, i's not, i's even better hard case. My only Negative comment about them is they tend to be a little heavy in the head and tha's it. Much better than Sennheiser 660s or 800s and Grados 1000's I have had, I just wish they were as light as my Limited DT 770 Pros, but those are different breed and not quite as good as these. These are so far the best headphones I have heard or owed so far!

Spatial abilities are excellent, comparable to open backed designs! Details are all present. Transparent, neutral sound. Responds well to equalization. The cable is subject to an unacceptable level of microphonics, (particularly above the "Y" junction). Due to the clamping force, necessary for the weight, may become uncomfortable while wearing glasses for extended listening sessions, (my computer glasses have relatively thick arms).I have replaced the cables on my other desktop use headphones for one reason or another - cable length, cable stiffness, and now microphonics!

Equipment I have used to test LCD-XCLa Aqua Formula xHD v2 --> Topping A90RME Adi-2 PRO50 hours burn-in periodThis headphone produces amazing sonic fields, although it is not as wide as Arya, it is very intimate and able to create a very realistic song stage. I love the fact that this headphone is able to cut external noise extensively, and this has helped greatly for my listening experiences in a noisy environment. The Treble is very airy, and mids are very detailed, it is able to reproduce amazing vocal imaging. And I love the extended BASS it produces as well.I would say for the price it is a GREAT deal! It Really outperforms a lot expensive headphones.I am really happy that I brought this headphone!!! You can't go wrong this Audeze!JIN :D
Absolutely stunned at the clarity and separation of the instruments. My first planar magnetic I’ve ever listened to. Bought them for midnight mixing sessions in the studio where I have massive monitors and like to listen cranked up to 11. I have to say after boosting the bass just a bit these things slam the bass so hard it gave me goosebumps. I am a true convert and believer that these are the best sounding cans on the market. Can it really get any better.
After listening the Audeze LCD-XC for almost 2 weeks on the stock cable, I was like "OK, this headphone sounds good but not that great like some people claimed."Then, things came to an abrupt change -- after I replace it with a custom 24 AWG, 8 threads cable with 4-pin XLR connection ( 7N OCC copper + silver ).Music listened to -- jazz, instruments, country,Unrivaled separation of details - I could hear different instruments playing at the same time, and distinguish them easily -- like picking apples from the tree. Some details were even unheard of previously with other headphones or speakers.Bass hit hard and fast, but not overwhelming.Detailed Treble - guitars sound like they were being plucked in front of me, they might be on the highs like some people ... MoreAfter listening the Audeze LCD-XC for almost 2 weeks on the stock cable, I was like "OK, this headphone sounds good but not that great like some people claimed."Then, things came to an abrupt change -- after I replace it with a custom 24 AWG, 8 threads cable with 4-pin XLR connection ( 7N OCC copper + silver ).Music listened to -- jazz, instruments, country,Unrivaled separation of details - I could hear different instruments playing at the same time, and distinguish them easily -- like picking apples from the tree. Some details were even unheard of previously with other headphones or speakers.Bass hit hard and fast, but not overwhelming.Detailed Treble - guitars sound like they were being plucked in front of me, they might be on the highs like some people experienced, for me, they are tolerable cause it wasn't fatiguing at all.Human voice that gives you the goosebumps, they are strong and detailed -- like the singer was literally singing in front of me, they are really the strong points of these headphones. The whole listening experience was enjoyable, I felt like I was literally putting a pair of high end speakers between my ears. How some people say it -- yes, musical. The presentations were forward, detailed, each piece of musical instruments played their role while not muddled up. I could hear them playing in synced, like how symphonic orchestras were in motion, I always appreciate the fact that the electronic instruments were being played out and sea waves lashing out at the background. All in all, many thumbs up, you will regret not trying it.
Outperforms my other closed backs--Ether C Flows, Aeons and Fostex. Not as wide a soundstage as my open backs, for obvious reasons, but still are spacious. They're heavy but not uncomfortable, and I replaced the pads with Dekoni Fenestrated Sheepskins. They require a lot of power to drive. I have headphone amps including tubes, but I test drove them on simply the Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt, and they sounded great!
I have had the LCD 2 headphones for about five years. I ordered the closed back XC’s for apartment listening. I like the neutral sound of LCDs, and how fast they are. Ifound it difficult to find a really good pair of closed back phone. So far these are exactly what I was hoping for. I also ordered the black dragon V2 Cable. This is a very good upgrade as it does tone the highs down a bit. But, it also gives a closeness to the sound that I really love. Also the staging is a little better. Overall I’m very satisfied with his purchase.
I saved a bit on an open box LCD-XC from this dealer. Headphones arrived quickly and looked like new. After about 50 hours of burn in time mostlyunder the influence of a really long jazz playlist, the headphones sounded considerably better with some rough edges in the mid range cleaned up.It seems that most headphones require some burn in time, some much more than others. Despite Audeze doing some of the burning in at the factory, count on doing at least 50 hrs or so. Nice clarity and bass for my ears. They are a good buy at their regular price. This dealer got them to me quickly anddid a great packing job. If you run Roon and Tidal, you can find some really long jazz playlists that work for burn in. Really nice sound for closed backheadphones.
This is now my favorite daily driver at work.I was rocking a ZMF Verite Open for a while, but I eventually realized that I needed a little bit more noise isolation at work. I know closed backs are a good answer to this problem, but I've generally avoided them because I could never find one that I really liked. I had heard about the LCD-XC before, but there some some complaints about the frequency response (I don't have the ability to EQ at work) as well as the weight, so I decided to not look further into it. However, reviews about the latest 2021 update to the LCD-XC got me curious enough to take another look at it, and I eventually decided to buy it.After using it for about a week at work, I am completely happy with my purchase...so much so that I've decided ... MoreThis is now my favorite daily driver at work.I was rocking a ZMF Verite Open for a while, but I eventually realized that I needed a little bit more noise isolation at work. I had heard about the LCD-XC before, but there some some complaints about the frequency response (I don't have the ability to EQ at work) as well as the weight, so I decided to not look further into it. However, reviews about the latest 2021 update to the LCD-XC got me curious enough to take another look at it, and I eventually decided to buy it.After using it for about a week at work, I am completely happy with my purchase...so much so that I've decided to sell the Verite Open! For half the cost of the ZMF headphone, I get complete isolation from my environment, equal clarity and resolution to the ZMF, a slightly brighter signature (its signature is nearly ideal for me), and a bigger soundstage (at least when compared to using the Verite leather pads...it's probably equal to the VO soundstage when using the Universe Suede pads, but I didn't like those pads because the sound signature becomes too warm for me).The only other top-tier closed back I've tried is the Focal Stellia, but I found the bass to be a bit too much for me, and Focal headphones in general have too much of a claustrophobic soundstage to me. I'd also imagine that the Verite Closed sounds pretty similar to the Verite Open. So, if you asked me to pick the top closed-back between the VC, the Focal Stellia, and the LCD-XC, I'd pick the LCD-XC. And, it costs WAY less than the other two!The weight did take a couple days to get used to, but if you're already comfortable with ~1 lb headphones (like ZMFs), then I think you can likely adjust to the LCD-XCs as well. I'm not a large/strong person either (I'm scrawny and under 140 lbs), so I think you can make this a daily driver if you're willing to put up with some discomfort for a couple/few days.
