Fantastic depth and clarity from this little interface. Solid construction really gives a sense of confidence and makes you actually want to use the thing… and it is super easy to use. Just grab the big knob, you don’t even have to look.I moved across from a first generation Apogee Duet which I paid thrice the price for back in the day, and I’m not at all disappointed in the Audient.

The id4Mk2 has a really natural but warmed tone. The pre amp background noise floor is exceptionally quiet in comparison to my focusrite 8i8. Easily drives quiet mics. Its footprint is around post card size & it's built like a tank. It definitely feels like a premium product. This is backed up by the clear metering, intuitive Scroll Control feature to use the scroll wheel to control your DAW parameters, excellent headphone output & numerous other features. Well worth it!! Note: Its USB C bus powered, worked fine using USB3 port to USBC. Enjoy!!

Very sturdy build. Excelent sound quality. Two separate headphone outs. It has a USB type-C connector which is OK, although 90% of users are going to need a regular USB 3.0 (type-A) adapter for the computer end. But it comes only with a short type-C to type-C cable. However, it works fine with regular USB 3.0 and even USB 2.0 sockets on the computer end with an adapter or C to A cable. Latency so far seems OK even though Audient do not have their own driver - it is the common "Theyscon" (?) ASIO driver. One problem with this was updating the firmware - it hung while "initialising". Swapping USB sockets didn't help, eventually had to actually uninstall the driver/s from Device Manager (Win 7) during the early update phase, then it suddenly completed.

My Sweetwater rep recommended this as an upgrade from my old Presonus Audiobox 22 for powering my Shure SM7B. I already had a Cloudlifter CL1 for boosting gain with my SM7B, but the Audiobox just wasn't cutting it for clarity and had too much noise. The iD4 MKII preamp is crystal clear and has extremely low noise even when you are pushing the gain to the edge. There is enough gain to run the SM7B without a cloud lifter, but I still have mine in the chain since I already had one laying around. I love the controls, meters, and ability to use the volume encoder knob to control parameters in my daw. For the money, you can't go wrong with this interface.
This interface is really good, no interference or signal noise like with my last interface - the Presonus Audiobox 96.The loopback feature sounds really neat and something I've always wanted to use, for sampling audio online in to the DAW. Not tried yet, but I'm sure it will be straightforward enough and easy.Audient quality preamp as well, nothing short of amazing in terms of the sound character and amount of gain available to you. It's just one knob and it controls all monitor levels. The headphone OP doesn't mute either automatically when you switch to speakers, so the only way to reduce the headphone level or mute is to disconnect the headphone jack. Little strange, but other than that no complaints.
I really enjoy using this audio card. I ordered the Audient ID4 MK2 audio card and am very pleased to use this product. I made my order at MUSICSTORE on May 15 and received it on May 26. Fast, high quality, safe. I intend to use the services of MUSICSTORE in the future and would gladly recommend this store to my friends and other people. Thank you MUSICSTORE!
I acquired a Schoeps MK41/CMC1 microphone for podcasting / studio (YouTube) recording and needed an audio interface that could deliver. I pair this with a dbx 286s and record in a hybrid live state into OBS Studio (I don't use the camera for audio and don't use an external recording system, and I record as though I am streaming live straight in the computer). In addition to that, I also own Kali In8 speakers and needed something to play my music on that was better than bluetooth and computer speakers (I do not use them professionally). That's my setup. I started out with a Solid State Logic SSL2 but the buffering/lag was a problem every 30 minutes to couple hours of playing music. I could not figure out how to fix it. Compared to this Audient, the bass was definitely a little more pronounced, similar to how one would listen for leisure to speakers and expect it to sound. The bass from the speakers on the Audient I would assume is considered more accurate as they are studio speakers and this device is designed for studio recording. However, if you use the Sennheiser 660 headphones, you will note a magical, crystal clear, sound with great soundstage. Anyways, that is what I have as far as playback. From a driver standpoint, I use Windows and it is a very basic driver that works well. The only issue you may face, which I blame Windows for more, is that if you want to playback in the 96khz sample rate, you need to first switch it in the Windows sound settings to that. THEN you can right click on the little ID icon on the taskbar and change it there. It needs to be done in that order or it will constantly default/change down to the 44.1khz. I leave the buffer at 1024 Samples and rarely have issues. When switching between modes, you will hear a mechanical click on the device. Same for when switching between speakers or not (pressing the speaker button). I personally like it because it is easy to hear when something is happening to it. I play for hours and hours straight on this and the speakers as they are used for background music, etc. in the studio while we work. As a recording device for a microphone, it is ultra crystal clean, perfect sound. Remember, I am paired with a dbx compressor/gate system, and I am using a microphone that is capable of picking the sound of a small insect crawling on the table). With this combination, I can get a radio style sound similar to the Shure SM7B everyone uses, but clearer and more controlled if that makes sense. I can get a clean audio sound that is balanced, slightly warm, with no noise floor that I can hear without turning the gain up insanely high. The dbx handles the gain so the gain for this is set to 0. What I love with this is the knob that allows you to balance the sound between what is coming from the microphone (input) and what is coming from the computer (DAW). I can easily switch between either sound or halfway. The loopback feature, for those that use it, is also perfect. The knobs turn very smoothly and quietly, and the volume knob has very slight notched turning that is just right. While it will always send the audio signal out over the headphone jack, I like being able to press the speaker button and quickly turn the sound on or off to my speakers. The build quality is very heavy and solid. The aluminum is very thick, the knobs are aluminum, and everything plugs into it very firmly. The dark grey color matches the darker Apple products very well (aesthetically) and the leds are great for checking/viewing audio levels. One thing to note as well, if you have frequent issues with buffering for whatever reason (i.e. if you are playing audio or not, and all of a sudden you hear a solid loud whooshing sound), you want to make sure you are using a high quality usb cable, and connected to a port that has a full signal transfer. For example, sometimes if you use a usb hub, and connect this with three active hard drives and a mouse and keyboard, you may be sucking a lot of data from this. I found that a thunderbolt port and thunberbolt cable result n almost no issues ever. Just keep that in mind before blaming the interface. And yes, I tried all these combinations with the SSL2+ and it still had frequent problems. But this Audient is great.
Absolutely brilliant interface for my requirements. I use the unit to drive a pair of Yamaha HS5s, a Shure MV7, a few guitars and my Sony MDR-7506 cans. It all works efficiently and to a broadcast-quality level through Cubase & CC Audition. After sales support is excellent from Audient themselves, providing everything - via email - from tutorials to tips n tricks when using the iD4.Highly recommended for video editors (like myself), content creators and songwriters and/or pre-production demo'ing.
Inexpensive, and works… well, better than I had hoped. To get an interface with a pre-amp as good as this, I would expect to pay a fair bit more.Is it the best in the world? No. There are better. But they are significantly more expensive.I have quite high standards, and this meets them. My standards are larger than my bank balance. And this is has those same standards.
Great interface for entry level and higher quality production. New edition has a sleek colour and same great sound quality as before. Collected at the Birmingham store with great customer service! Would highly recommend this interface to anyone producing!
