Sweet kit for sure. Very well packed by TTL, and quick delivery once got by the 4 day processing time. Sounds fabulous, even sending via my BT transmitter to wireless speaker. Not HIFI I know, but functional where this table lives. Build quality superb, table has an elegant look..makes momma happy as in living room. Small gripe, cueing lever in awkward spot in relation to tonearm lock, too close to it. I also like a little more cue damping then this has, but kinda typical for AT tables I've owned. Is still adequate, no needle slams! HIGHLY recommended.

This is an excellent value, featured packed turntable that performs well with the Audio-Technica AT95E cartridge at its price point. I needed a budget turntable for a line level input that could exhibit respectable sound quality and tracking, and be able to play up or down in pitch at least a whole tone in either direction, which the pitch change controls allow. That said, I will only point out very minor observations, pans, or detractors (for those who may be interested).. The target light is not located where it would be most effective. The housing with the light on it should either be relocated, much brighter, and/or spin up to 90 degrees clockwise to be more useful. The black version does not have a matte top, it is bright/glossy, and easy to fingerprint. The black version does not have a matte top, it is bright/glossy, and easy to fingerprint. The Quartz lock button does not have a light when on like other buttons, and does not default to on when powering up the turntable, although the platter maintains its speed at the various pitch settings without a problem. The platter mat is sufficient, but it would be really nice to have a a friction fit spindle cap for slightly convex (warped) vinyl, but that can easily be purchased separately (unfortunately pricey). All in all, this is a decent mid-level turntable at a very attractive price. Nice touches.. The tonearm height adjustment, the adjustable feet for leveling, and a sturdy base weight. The tonearm height should be set to 0.5 mm with the green AT95E cartridge. Also, follow the cartridge alignment recommendation from Audio-Technica. Using the suggested 60.325 mm inner null point, I get great results, although it's interesting that the cartridge mounting screws are set pretty much all the way to the back of the slots in the headshell to achieve this, but it does put the cartridge body within the headshell area. Since I have Shure V15 IV, M97HE, and Stanton 881SII cartridges floating around from other tables, it looks as though they will all be adjustable in this head because of the short distance from the stylus tip back to the mounting plane. It would have been nice to have some type of automatic shutoff, though. That is the one thing I wish that it had. Don't expect a strobe indicator for 78 rpm, you need different needles for 78's, too. The cueing is not the smoothest, so just be patient with it. Help it along by dragging your fingers, lol. I can't speak for the USB output at this point, but I will say that it is going a little overboard to rip out the preamp. Although this is not a $700-$2500 purist turntable, the RIAA equalization is fine, there is no digital noise or anything, people are nuts. If you are going to need to use the internal preamp (LINE setting on the switch), then there are no issues. If your preamp is very high quality, and you want to marry that with state of the art phono mm or mc cartridges with the proper loading, and at 1.5 grams vtf or less, then you probably shouldn't be buying this turntable anyway.

I wavered a good deal between the AT-LP120USB and its bigger brother AT-LP1240USB. After scouring the internet and talking with audio/music geeks it really comes down to this...if you are a DJ who moves all the time and need a high-in build with extra bells and whistles then 1240 is your best bet, but if you're a retired DJ or old/new vinyl connoisseur just wanting to convert some of your rare LP's to digital files or just play your old LP's for nostalgia sake then 120 unit is all you need. A side note: if you're going to want to record 78 LP's in high quality sound, then you'll want to buy the M97xE Shure Cartridge ($99). Without being technical the grooves on a 78 are wider than 33's or 45's. Just recently treated myself one of these to replace my old Yamaha turntable; originally I wanted a Rega but for the price JB's had these listed at in their Boxing Day sale I could not say no! The turntable was easy to set up, and the walnut finish combined with the black looks superb, quite classy even, (the carbon fibre tone-arm looks particularly cool) Sound wise to me it sounds great; I am not using the in-built pre-amp, preferring to use the phono input on my receiver. Very happy with my purchase.
First, this is a great looking minimalist table. In my opinion it's construction and performance punches above the price range. The belt drive servo controlled motor delivers consistent speed without unwanted sound. The straight, carbon fiber tonearm tracks with ease. The included VM95e cartridge provides a nice soundstage, imaging, and clarity of sound. The adjustable legs properly isolate the wooden plinth. The speed control switch is functional. The dust cover is attached, but removable. The tracking and anti skate controls function well enough. But the anti skate control is a bit difficult to read. The TT has the look and feel of a higher priced TT. Indeed upgrading the included stylus will provide sound quality which in my opinion approaches. If not achieved ... MoreFirst, this is a great looking minimalist table. Sound:Audio Technica stated that the built the table around the VM cart. After listening to this table, I am likely to believe that. Everything sounds well-balanced and detailed and that was right out of the box!Features:This is a pretty bare bones table. One thing I really liked however is the speed sensitive motor. When tested with the RPM app, the speed was almost dead on at 33.37 RPMs and 45.05 at the 33 1/3 and 45 RPM settings.Ease of Use:Setup was done in less than 10 minutes and was extremely easy to use with no learning curve.Quality:The product appears to be well made. My only want would be that the platter was heavier.Value:Yes, I think it’s a better product than others in their Direct Drive line and has bettter specs.Manufacturer ... MoreSound:Audio Technica stated that the built the table around the VM cart. I bought this about a week ago and have been unable to stop listening to my vinyl collection ever since. I spent $400+ on a U-Turn Audio Orbit Plus (with some additional accessories) turntable back in December, which was a huge mistake. I didn't care for the sound, even after spending an additional $500+ on two "better" cartridges.I decided to buy this Audio-Technica AT-LP120USB because of all the rave reviews that it has received. I am so glad that I did. It came boxed within a box, which was good since this thing is heavy! After assembling it, hooking it up, and spinning some old and new vinyl pressings, I am completely in love with this thing. I can only imagine that it will sound better once it gets "broken in" some more. One thing that I noticed right off ... MoreI bought this about a week ago and have been unable to stop listening to my vinyl collection ever since. I can only imagine that it will sound better once it gets "broken in" some more. One thing that I noticed right off the bat was how much better 180-gram vinyl sounds on this as compared to every other turntable that I have owned in the past couple of years. I was under the impression that all 180-gram vinyl sounded like garbage...the AT-LP120USB has proven me wrong. If I may offer some advice--steer clear of those companies that are manufacturing turntables nowadays for the "hipster" crowd. Stick with a well-known name that know what they're doing.
I'll have to say, this turntable hits all the metrics in what I want. Well, probably almost all, but enough for a 5-star review.Assembly.For someone who's never used a turntable outside of one of those cheap Crossley suitcase ones, it was a minor challenge. Especially because I thought the stretch band that goes underneath the turntable mat was almost discarded. I thought it was something that meant to tie cords together and had it bundled with the wrapping, ready to have thrown out. Luckily, I figured it out. Really disappointed in my first turntable. For $350 I wouldn't expect such a noticeable defect. The platter is severely warped (no it's not the mat as many have suggested). I wish I would've examined it more closely when I bought it, now I'm stuck with it. Luckily it plays just fine, but kind of turned me off of Audio-Technica.
it more than fits the bill for a direct drive turntable used to play vinyl recordings, which is how I use it. The packaging was secure (close-fitting foam inserts inside) and all the pieces were included in the box. Setup was relatively easy for me, since my now-inoperable changer had a similar setup. The turntable does not come "ready to use." One still has to install the cartridge (push it into the receptacle on the tone arm - not difficult), and balance the tone arm and adjust the anti-skate setting. The enclosed instructions are pretty clear on how to do these tasks. I chose to connect the turntable directly to my amplifier. One feature that surprised me (favorably) was that the turntable stops almost immediately when one pushed the start/stop switch; my old changer turntable would coast to a stop when turned off. I am not a DJ, so will not use those functions of the turntable, and cannot comment on how the turntable handles them. I may try the transfer to digital media at sometime in the future, but have not tried to do that yet, either. As noted in the rating, I like it.
