There is a big ol' voice assistant button taking up the side of one of the earpieces to trigger Siri/Google assistant depending on your phone OS. Perhaps the most important feature is the included cable to allow you to plug the headphones into any headphone jack (if your phone still has one *grumble*), so you can use the headphones without having to pair and re-pair to your different devices, and also so you can use them when you're out of battery and away from a charger. The charger is micro-USB, and while I'd love to have seen them use USB-C, it's still better than some proprietary port.

The included cables (audio and charging) are good quality and the carrying case is on the nice side for a pleather drawstring bag. The headphones are light (just on the good side of too light) and the ear cups are soft and pleasant to wear for extended periods.I'm really impressed with all aspects of these headphones. Assuming I manage to eventually kill the battery, I can still use them as wired headphones in a pinch but I think a weekly top-up will be enough to keep me listening comfortably cable-free.

It works well.Since the cord had a built-in microphone, i wasn't sure if the headphones had a built-in microphone for using them as a bluetooth headset/mic while on the phone. The answer is YES it does. I'm not even sure where the microphone is located as there is no visible hole in the casing. Maybe it's picked up in the ear-cup?The controls on the headphones are slim, with a physical power switch, next, back, and pause. I think the large circular logo on the left ear also does something but not sure what, maybe answer/hangup?As for durability, the joints are metal, not plastic.

I use these to help me drown out the sounds on and of the subway on my daily commutes and they help immensely. Because they cup the ears and sit around them, they seal off a lot of the surrounding noise. Music comes in nice and clear without having to turn up loud. The bluetooth connects instantly. They are a bit on the big n bulky side compared to the Marshall's and much heavier. The design could be much sleeker all around including the control buttons design. The cushioning and padding is very plush though after a couple hours you do start feeling the squeeze from the ear pads. I can hear the sound behind and around me, and also in the centre of my head, but some of the headphones I am used to place the sound slightly more forward, which I prefer. When comparing the old headphones to these, they are definitely not as clear, but with the M50xBT headphones, where the sound sits doesn't quite feel right to me.I have read that these headphones are very good for critical listening, such as studio mixing, and now I understand this, as everything can be heard very clearly. I thought they would be suited to my ears, but unfortunately I will have to continue looking for the right pair for me.Despite the one issue I have with the M50xBTs, I would recommend them to others. They give a lovely, clear sound within a wide space. They are very comfortable and isolate noise from the outside well. I only needed to charge them once, and the battery has lasted already for over a week of use, although I haven’t used them wirelessly that much. While they work really well I wanted something that had really good sound quality at least as good as my wired Sony or better.I saw that the Audio Technica brand had good reviews and wanted to give the ATH M50XBT wireless set a try, I couldn’t be happier. For starters these are a full over the ear headset where all my other headsets are on the ear, never really liked over the ear ones due to heat. These are very well built, sturdy, light weight for their size and for me they are very comfortable. They came packaged in a nice cloth lined box and included a stereo cable, USB charging cable, carrying pouch, and manual.After unboxing and reading through the manual I charged them up. Now, the manual states to only use the included cable to charge them with, but its short, and I happen to have a bunch of micro USB cables laying around so I tried out one already hooked to my 5 port charger and they seemed to charge with it so I’ll just stick to using that since that cable is 6’. Once charged up I initially wanted to try them hooked directly to my LG V40 and try out the fancy audio processor in it. The manual stated that you don’t have to turn these on to use the included audio cable and just use them as a pass through, “Nice”, and I can say that works perfectly well too. The sound quality listening to various music was clean, clear and with plenty of bass for my taste, “even with my hearing problems” I hadn’t heard music sound as good in a long time even comparing it to my other Sony and Jabra headsets. Next I hooked it up to my laptop via audio cable and played a little Witcher 3, and wow, the sound was so much better than with any of my other headsets, I just couldn’t believe it. Even had my wife listen and see if she thought they sounded good “she doesn’t have hearing problems” and by the look on her face I could tell they sounded really good, afterwards she said she was very impressed with how the sound effects in Witcher were more surround and what she expected.I had actually forgotten these were also wireless, was enjoying using them as pass-through that I had not paired them up to try them out for almost a day, “oops”. I paired them up with a couple phones I have here, a LG V40 and a Sony XZ2, both worked perfectly, I could answer calls and listen to music without problem. The only thing is if it’s connected by Bluetooth they don’t sound as good when directly connected to the V40 but it’s pretty close. I walked around the house, and the connection stayed pretty solid till I went out into the garage and shut the door. So after about 35’ the sound started cutting out, but only after I had shut the door, not bad at all for a Bluetooth headset and it compares right up there with my Jabra set. Next I paired them up with my Bluetooth transmitter for my TV and it worked like a charm. The TVs sound was nice and clear, and I could easily make out the conversations “without some sort of hearing device I cannot make out conversations easily”. I could actually walk out to the kitchen and other bedrooms and still hear the TV perfectly.My only real complaint is that the volume and function buttons are sort of small and hard to find quickly, “much easier on my Jabra headset” and it takes me a little bit of fumbling around to figure out which is which as there’s really nothing on them for touch feedback telling you which is which. The included charging cable is a little too short for me, and it would be nice if the stereo cable was a little longer but that’s nothing an extension can’t solve.If you are wanting an excellent set of headphones that “for me” sound very clean and clear, that also have the ability to be used as a pass through device and not use up battery time then these are a great set of headphones for you to take a look at. I never had a problem with heat building up and while watching a movie that was just over 2hrs they remained comfortable.
My brother has a prior model of this that he adores, so when I was looking into them I included this one. I'm super happy to have gone with this one.I'm not exceptionally knowledgeable about tech things, and so it can be hard for me to get what I want without going way over what I actually need. But this has been great! Some of the others I was looking at were twice as much as this price-wise, and I really wouldn't have needed them at all.It has great sound quality (I've been using it with youtube stuff and movies so far), and cuts out tons of sound from my surroundings. I couldn't compare it to the more professional musical demands, but it is everything I need for the everyday stuff. Also, the wireless version of course has the on/off button on the right earcup along with a volume up, volume down, and play/pause button. You also have the option of using the included cable for a wired experience (this is great in case you happen to run out of battery).Now here's where things get a little different but not necessarily in a bad way.It truly comes down to preference. The sound stage on these ATH M50XBT has changed very subtly from it's wired counterpart. At least to my ears. It's subtle, but enough for me to notice a difference. I spent hours queuing up certain sections in the same FLAC audio files and comparing my wired version to the wireless version back and forth trying to pick out the differences when using one over the other. To me the wired version has slightly crisper highs and mids and less pronounced bass while the wireless version has more punchy bass and slightly less discernible mids and highs. By no way, shape, or form are they muddy, they just sound a bit crisper and metallic on the wired version which I do prefer. However, I have heard a lot of fans of the original wired ATH-M50Xs claim that they prefer the new sound stage on the wireless version due to it's slightly less metallic mids and highs. They even go as far as to call it a refinement over the original ATH-M50xs. Most importantly though, besides the subtle differences in it's sound stage, overall, Audio Technica still managed to keep their signature flat sound.. albeit the slightly punchier bass. Instrument reproduction is easily discernible with both versions and vocals sound rich and full. I think that ultimately, they both sound great and it will come down to preference. I do have mention that as an avid listener or electronica music, this wireless version does sound better than the wired in this genre due to it's slightly more pronounced bass.However, I did find that I slightly preferred listening to my classical and rock music on my wired ATH-M50Xs . Overall, VERY impressed with the sound and these will be my new daily driver for wireless.I only have two cons regarding this new wireless version. And one of them is pretty significant to me and is largely why I docked a star. My largest gripe is that you can only pair one bluetooth device at a time. This means that if I pair my ATH-M50XBTs to my desktop computer, my mobile device will see the headset as a discoverable bluetooth device, however, it will never connect to it. As soon as I disconnect the headset from my desktop computer, only then am I able to successfully connect to it on my mobile device. I tested this with multiple devices including my tablet and laptop and produced the same results. You cannot connect it to multiple bluetooth devices at a time and depend on the headset to automatically toggle back and forth between devices depending on which device you're playing back sound from. This is standard operation, as an example, with my Bose Soundsport Pulse headphones. With the Audio Technica's, you will need to manually disconnect it from one device before connecting it to another one. I believe that some of the complaints I'm seeing on Audio Technica's website reviews regarding people no longer being able to connect to their headset that was already previously paired on a device is due to the fact that they don't realize they have it paired and connected to another bluetooth device and need to terminate the session before trying to connect it back to the original device. Otherwise, it will never connect. This happened to me at first and I could not figure out why it would no longer connect to my Android device. As soon as I disconnected it from my computer, PRESTO! it re-connected to my Android. To me this is borderline unacceptable in 2018. I have plenty of other bluetooth headsets that I can have multiple bluetooth devices paired at once and don't need to manually disconnect the connection from one device prior to connecting to another. I don't know if this is something that can be addressed via a firmware update or if it's a physical hardware limitation of the bluetooth module that Audio Technica sourced for this headset. The only other minor gripe I have is the extremely short micro USB charging cable that was included. It is a 1 foot cable!!!Aside from these limitations and minor annoyances, it doesn't detract from the fact that these are amazing sounding cans with a well balanced and neutral soundstage. I don't think you can do any better than this for a wireless headset in the two hundred dollar range. If you were either a fan of the original and are now looking for wireless cans OR for those of you that are maybe trying out this legendary headset for the first time, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!
