Cant beat em but if you could it would cost over $1000. This is only my second "DJ" deck but it will likely be my last. I would certainly buy it again.Quality built in preamp and PCB and when I say that I mean the preamp is usable, not audiophile, but it wasnt intended to be...just helps when you hook up to a computer speakers to make tapes (yes tapes, I dont do CDs LOL)Excellent quality cables included so when you do run to your own external preamp you do get Audiophile sound...yes you do with the right cartridge...in my case currently a AT540VM. This is a great turntable! This machine has great balance and the motor is strong as Sasquatch. It’s a classy looking turntable that’s ready for anything you throw at it from battle scratching to just playing vinyl. I also like the fact that’s it heavy and resists vibration from bass. Thing thing ROCKS!!!

I'm not a D.J. but I bought this deck because I wanted something that not only sounded great but could stand to be played 20 hours straight every so often. Nothing is lacking with this thing. I truly mean that. Each part will out last me. I thought that was only true with old stuff these days - I absolutely love it. And Turntable Lab really know what they're doing. I know, I cant believe it myself!

I had Technics 1200s for years.. so when I saw the AT-1240 it was a no-brainer. I use this turntable everyday to record vinyl It gets 5 stars for it's ease of adjustment to whatever cartridge I want to use and for it's sturdiness. I especially like the lack of almost any noise once the turntable is grounded. The one feature I don't use is the built in preamp. I prefer going through my Parasound ZPhono USB Preamp amp; Digital Interface for the clear clean sound it outputs to my MacBook Pro. I interchange with either an Ortofon Arkiv or Audio-Technica ML440MLb cartridge depending on how warm I want my sound.

A Great Treasure of Sound

The Audio Technica AT-LP1240-USB XP is a very sturdy build and has its own signature sound above turntables at 3 times the price. The dynamics and the brute force behind all sounds is outstanding. I'm using it as a home player and have not heard anything like this since my old Kenwood resin direct drive model that I owned in the 80's. A very lively addition to my turntable adventure.

Awesome Turn Table

I am very impressed with the at-lp1240-usb-xp so far. The motor is extremely quiet. The cartridge is also of good quality; there is sound detail on my records which I either forgot about, or never knew existed. The 50% pitch adjustment is also very nice. In theory, this means that it should be possible to play 16 RPM records on this turn table if I ever come across any. I didn't think I'd care for the start/stop adjustment, but I've found I already developed a preference setting for both functions. The built in preamp is also a plus, and the output from the USB port is good enough for my needs. If you're not a DJ, are considering this turn table, and can afford it, I would highly recommend it.

Great turntable!

The Audio-Technica Consumer AT-LP1240-USB XP is a fantastic turntable. It has a solid build, reliable speed accuracy, and easily accessed controls. The sound reproduction produced with the AT-XP5 cartridge included with the turntable is remarkable. I have been listening to my vintage LP collection for the first time in years and I am amazed at how smooth and distinct the instrumentation sounds when played on this turntable. I am very pleased with my decision to purchase this turntable.

The Wow Factor:Old school DJ from the late 80s thru the 90s. Reentering the DJ scene.Overall:I grew up on the legendary 1200s. Nuff said… it took me a few weeks to realize my purchase of the AT-1240s.I sat my son and grandson down in front of these and I stated. “Son, … Grandson… These two pieces of art will be worth much more than I paid for then in the future, by then I’ll be to old and frail to defend myself so never let anyone near these”

On March, 2020 I purchased my first AT-LP1240USB XP Edition. I l liked it so much, that I purchased an additional unit in July, 2020.As most of us have agreed, the AT-LP1240USB XP Edition turntable is rock solid. But I have discovered an issue with the tonearm/ gimbals/ pivot area. I noticed that the tonearm has a slight rattle in the pivot/ gimbal area. I am not sure why. Considering its price tag, I expected Rock Solid throughout.Now, let's talk about the features. There are many features to this unit. The ability to precisely control the platter to start and stop on cue is ideal. I see this feature coming in handy when transferring music to a digital format.Sound quality. Excellent! Using the existing cartridge and stylus that comes with the LP1240USB XP, there was plenty of channel separation, deep bass and clear highs, very nice stage presence. I have purchased the Ortofon 2M Red cartridge/ stylus. I wanted to see if there was a dramatic difference between the included AT-XP5 cartridge/ stylus. I also think that it is a good idea to have a spare stylus.The target light. At first, I was dead set against it. Ifigured that it would be lost in the shuffle. That is, until I realized how readily available the target light is. If and when the light would burn itself out, it can be easily replaced.The forward/reverse platter functionality. I highly doubtthat I would use this feature. However, rumor has it if you play certain albums backwards, there is a secret message to be heard. :-)Over all vibration/ direct drive motor noise. There isn't any. I very impressed with technique they used to insulate the underside of the platter.The USB connection is average. I find connecting the USBcable to a High Speed 3.0 USB port eliminates delay when recording onto the computer, especially when editing.I have seen many concerns in reference to not having ahinged dust cover. This is a DJ deck; they do not use the lids intact. I have to admit, the design is far from boxy. The plastic used needs special care. One customer commented that he used a microfiber cloth and now he has fine scratches. Personally, I applied Sun Of A Gun when I first purchased my units. It provides a layer of protection. The dust just wipes off with a soft-cotton) cloth.I am hoping that I will experience “many” (NotJust Two) years of enjoyment playing my records on this turntable.
