I bought these for my office so I wanted something that would reproduce good sound at a low volume. I listen to a lot of movie soundtracks, video game soundtracks and classical music. I also like emersive ambience background sounds. They have been a great upgrade from a Logitech set I had. The Z313 just could not reproduce sound correctly unless it was loud and even then it just seemed flat sounding. They are clear at the low volume and provide the range from lows to high that surround you. I did buy the stands which are a must to have the full sound pointed at you especially low volume play.

I’m using them with a Logitech Media Server and Raspberry Pi 4 with a HiFiBerry DAC2 Pro so I don’t need the A2+. I listen mostly to classical music and the clarity and purity of each individual note is superb. I’m nowhere close to the volume limit and the frequency response is more than adequate. Altogether a big hit.

A friend recommended AudioEngine so I did my research and decided to try them out. I had my doubts when I saw how small they are but they sound great. I happened to have a subwoofer from a prior stereo system and with that, music really sounds amazing. They have all the features I'd want with bluetooth, 1/8" input, and subwoofer output and the fact that the company is US based is an added bonus. Very happy.

I've been using these speakers daily for about 6-8 hours a day for the last couple weeks and I think the sound is wonderful for how small they are! The clarity is exceptional and the bass is surprisingly pretty decent as well for a small speaker. I also love the grey/black color finish, it works really well with my dark office theme.I have however, had a really hard time with the bluetooth connectivity (which was a huge reason I bought these). Sometimes it works great, other times it cuts out constantly and can be really frustrating. I tried moving them to different locations, away from any other bluetooth devices and my wireless router. Nothing seamed to help. Now I'm forced to hardwire them to my computer. Not a huge deal, but for the price on these, I would ... These speakers sound great. Crystal clear sound and look great in my office space. A nice minimalist style to pair with your computer. However, if you are mainly purchasing for music, you will 100% miss the bass provided by a sub-woofer. I paired mine with a Sony subwoofer from B&H and now the music in my office sounds outstanding!
I owned the original A2 for 9 years which have a traditional amp. I understand the A1 uses a newly-designed digital amp. Well? Hands down, the A1 is more detailed and faster. Bass is juicy and punchy at the same time. They utterly destroy the Home Pod we have in the den, it's not even close. Much more musical and real. I use DS1 stands. Sorry: when I take the DS1s away the A1 sound just isn't right on my desktop. Basically you will need to have the tweeters pointed above ear level to enjoy all the A1 speaker has to offer. DS1 stands are a must buy for desktop users.

(and I ordered the stands tonight)I didn't give them 5 stars for a few reasons. They do sound "great for their size". But I don't care about their size, I care about how they sound.They can get loud, impressively so, but I feel like they are missing just a little something. its almost as if the transition from tweeter to main driver have a dip in the middle of the crossover point.They are missing a sense of AIR in the upper mids or lower treble (I can't quite put my finger on where in the frequency response that something is amiss.) I can be gaming and listening and watching guides/videos etc on the other monitor and hear both.Love that. Less wires. 2 systems, 1 set of speakers. I would give them 9/10 if I could. Really Good, not Great. I think that you could maybe get better sound for the same cost... but these are good enough for what I wanted them for.Sorry I can't be more positive here. These speakers sound wonderful, despite their size. Perfect for my mother, whether she's listening to jazz, contemporary or podcasts. I was concerned with the lower notes and bass output of these little things, seeing as they're about the size of a generic set you would get with basically any new computer, but I was delighted to find that I was worrying for nothing once I got them going. They're not lightweight, which really helps them hold their own. Overall, a great buy.
Received these yesterday, and was hoping for great things based on reviews I'd read. Well, after about 10 hours of listening through my desktop Mac, I am underwhelmed. The item arrived in nice condition, and the fit and finish are nice. The sound quality is nothing great, and aside from a "boomier" presence, my internal Mac speakers deliver greater clarity and are less fatiguing. Midrange is muddy, bass leaden, and the highs just aren't there, even with a significant boost on the EQ. I am playing through iTunes, using my CD-quality library, stored in AIFF format. Same rig goes to my large audiophile system, which sounds great. I am wondering if an external DAC is needed to wake these things up, or if they are just not the quality I need.
First I tried them with an audible book and they're muffled and too bassy. Audible has no EQ, I've been asking for years. Audioengine has one for their Wi-Fi speakers, not these. I tried music next and again they sound flat and awful with no way to adjust the sound. I got these to replace my two Anker Boosts that sync together for stereo and have an EQ. They may be staying as they sound great since I can tweak the sound. Another gripe I have is there are no grilles to keep the dust out of the drivers. All need be done is create an app with EQ control. As they are I can't recommend them.Note that I love my HD6 system with S6 subwoofer, but they're running on a computer where everything has an EQ.
