Aveda - Men Pure-Formance Pomade

Although this is a men's product my style is highly recommended this for my pixie style cut it's very very short. This product has tremendous holding power and is never flaky or oily. The holding power of this pomade will make you change your current product I'm sure of it. And I highly recommend this product whatever your gender is.

An overall great product recommended for men with short haircuts

Upon opening the container, you are greeted by hints of lavender and citrus with the muskiness of cedar. The water-based gel is smooth in texture and soft to the touch, allowing for a gentle and even lather. There is a noticeable lightness upon application compared to contemporary water-based pomades making it great for casual wear. Pureformance Pomade manages to provide a medium pliable hold with noticeable shine for hours in the city with no problem. There is no sticky residue and feels gentle to the touch, owing to natural essential oils which also conditions the user's scalp.

Best pomade on the market!

This pomade is amazing! Don't waste your time or money trying to find something better. I tried, and truly nothing worked as well as this product. I would recommend using it on dry hair as it will give you more control and a defined look. Also, my favorite thing about this product is that it feels very light and beautiful in your hair and washes out easily. 10/10!

Do Not Recommend For Guys with Thinner Hair

I give this product four stars because it definitely does what it says it does ...However ... I would not use it again. In fact, I gave mine away. I use the Grooming Clay and I love it. I decided to try the Pomade, but decided the shine was too much. While my hair is thick in most places, it's thinner in the front. Where the grooming clay provides a matte finish, the pomade seemed to shine a spotlight on where my hair was thinnest.This product will work great if you have a nice thick head of hair and you have no hair loss or hair thinning concerns. If you have those concerns, I would recommend the Grooming Clay

FLAT

I wanted to love this product. I was so excited to try it and have never been more disappointed. Today I have applied this twice, using about as much that would come in the sample containers.. so double that. I expected that by using half of what I had to would have kept the hold, but after only applying it once, it made my hair heavy and flat, causing my hair to fall down pretty much 1-3 times per hour. The gel is lighter and provides more volume than this pomade, AND has a much stronger hold. "medium length hair" must mean very, very short because my hair isn't THAT long. For the record, I'm not trying to spike it up like the Slim Jim guy. I used it to slick it back, but it can't even do that.

I love it!

I have used other Aveda hair-styling products for years with great success, but the switch to the pure-formance pomade has perfectly hit the sweet spot for me. It exactly controls my thick, wavy hair the way I need but also feels natural and light. It also smells wonderful. My search for the perfect styling product is over.

The pomade we used was usually not very pricy and now I know why. In truth, it was so thick you could barely remove it from the can. This I'm sure was due to the amount of artificial ingredients contained within. Perfect for my needs.

I've had a short pixie cut for years and have tried a myriad of pomades. Others "worked" but were either too oily, waxy, or stiff. Several made my salt & pepper hair look dull too. A friend suggested I try one of the Aveda pomades and this one is exactly what I wanted--shine, hold, frizz control and styled texture that held but was also touchable. Perfect! The scent is lovely and subtle, as well as gender neutral, imho.

Seems like a new formula

I used to use this product a number of years ago and had a container that I would use from time to time. This definitely appears to be a different formula than what I used some years ago. It has a slightly different texture and a completely different scent, though, the packaging is almost identical. I think the older formula had a better hold. This still does the trick to hold my short mohawk up without looking unnatural or having the other effects of typical gel. Still gives that natural look without being heavy, sticky, goopy, or leaving that hard shine look of gel.

Separates into a liquid

When I purchased this item, it had already separated into a liquid component and a solid component, and was not the normal consistency of a pomade or a clay. Not really what you expect given the price of this pomade. Contacted customer service, and they said that it was fine to use, although they said that if I didn't feel comfortable, I could return the item to them, and if they found an issue with it, they would replace the item. I decided to return the item and purchased a different brand instead.
