I have rosacea and sensitive skin, and this sunscreen works well to calm and hide some of the redness on my cheeks. However, the tint is slightly darker and warmer than my light-medium skin tone, so if I use the required amount of sunscreen, the tint is clearly visible and does not match. However, on indoor days or for the evening, a light application of the sunscreen gives a natural tanned glow to the skin. No peeling noticed, blends in well with a natural finish, and the tint provides considerable coverage for a tinted sunscreen. Would primarily recommend to those with warm, medium skin tones, or those with lighter tones seeking a bronzed look. Definitely not my primary sunscreen given the price and quantity, but a nice additional tint to use sparingly.

I work outside and have rosacea, and it's very hard to find a sunscreen that doesn't inflame my skin but this is great! I thought it would be too orange but it settled on my face and looks natural. I just added a bit of concealer to lighten my undereyes. No irritation or sunburn whatsoever ! Lovely comfortable texture, no smell. It wouldn't suit very pale skin but they do a non tinted version. Very very happy with it, highly recommended.

And this was the most obvious change that wasn't taken into consideration. I will move to another line who may care about products that I care about.

Chemical SPF goes into the skin, acting like a sponge, it also allows UVB into the skin, where a chemical reaction takes place to disappate the UVB......but they tend to be quite stingy on the eyes.Mineral SPF, sits on top of the skin, and creates a shield over the top. Completely preventing UVB, UVA from even entering the skin. They are less stinging on the eye, and can be a kinder alternative if you have sentative skin. But can leave a white cast.....unless you buy a Tinted Mineral SPF.You can also get combined Chemical + Mineral SPF, with a tint.The bottom line is your buying what you pay for. Hence why I go for a tinted mineral in UK, for my sensitive eyes and skin.So when people ‘complain’ about this product having a layer on the skin, well yes it does, for a reason, that’s exactly what Mineral SPF do, but I find them a good all rounder for sensitive skin, full blocking of the UVA/UVB and other skin damaging rays (yes their are other!), less stinging on the eye, can act as a de facto makeup primer, and if you get it with a tint, you don’t even need to wear foundation.....win win win, and you can get them in a matifying finish. Then get an SPF 50 tinted powder, and top up every 2 hrs. Eg voila, you look lovely, and reduce your melanoma, and BCC, SCC (skin cancer) risks, whilst also not inflaming sensitive skin. Reduce hyperpigmentation, Melasma, Rosacea.Oh and always wear Sunglasses with sun protection- to avoid crows feet
I have been in search for a mineral sunscreen for a year and a half and tried SO many. They are all hard to apply and impossible to reapply. I am SO happy with this one, it is extremely easy to apply and I can also reapply during the day without having to rub in for ages. I think it’s important to note though I am very pale, so it suits my skin tone. And also instructions say to use one finger length for face and neck, Vs normal chemical sunscreens which ask to use two finger lengths. I have repurchased this again :)

My doctor also told me to take 50 mg of Benadryl daily for a week. My face was so red and inflamed and itchy and it looked TERRIBLE.I have ordered from Avene many times, but I always order the Tolerance Extreme Cream and Tolerance Extreme Cleansing Cream because they are nice and simple and easy to use with a multi-step routine. I thought I'd branch out this time, but will never again try other products from Avene as the other products I tried caused irritation (though only this particular product to the point where I wound up using prescription steroid cream and a prescription barrier repair cream to treat the reaction). I do not have extremely sensitive skin--I use several strong actives such as Vitamin C and Retinol with no problems and am very confused about my reaction to the Avene products. I am actually wondering if they are having quality control issues.Additionally, I am very frustrated by Avene's TERRIBLE return policy compared to other retailers whose products I use and love such as La Roche Posay, Paula's Choice, Diecem, Sephora, Ulta, Dermstore, LovelySkin, Nordstrom, etc. I expect that if I am paying premium price for a product that the company should also stand behind their product. I would seriously recommend purchasing Avene products from these other retailers rather than from Avene itself, going with La Roche Posay whose products are very similar, or going with basic drugstore products such as Eucerin or CeraVe. I have yet to open one of the products I ordered as I like to try products one at a time to see their effect. I am now afraid to open it and try it because of the reaction I had to this product, but it will also arrive too late once shipped back from me to receive a refund as it took over a week for me to receive my products and Avene begins counting the 30 days for their return policy from the date PURCHASED--not the date shipped or the date received. Needless to say I will not be ordering from Avene again though I will continue to use their Tolerance Extreme Cream/Cleansing Cream. I will simply purchase it through an indirect supplier.
After having sun damage to my face some years ago I was trying various foundations and bb creams that were suitable for my patchy skin tone as well as protection. One of the advisors in Boots recommended I try this.Since my first application I was in love! Tiny amount goes on smoothly. Covers a multitude. It's light doesn't aggravate my skin and stays covered all day. For me it's simply the best! :)

It stains my fingers and whatever I touch with any residue left on it, including on the bottle. So I have to be extra careful to pour it first into one hand, and use the clean hand to close the lid and put the bottle away, then rub it into my face. You also have to be very careful to use only a little at a time, because it stays very wet and shiny on the face for quite a long time. It doesn't absorb well into the skin. I already have semi-oily skin and this does not feel good on my face. I need to apply cosmetic powder on top to reduce the shine, which is extremely shiny. I bought this as a possible replacement for Clinique Cityblock sheer, which seems to be phased out. I wanted a mineral, not chemical sunscreen without any fragrances, which the Avene ticks. However, while I was hoping this would provide just a touch of colour rather than ghostly white like most mineral sunscreens, this Avene sunscreen is very heavy on the colour, which is a rather unfortunate orange tint. I can't see how it would look good on anyone. I would suggest to Avene together lighten up on how much tint you put in, or go with a good range so more people can find one that suits them...
Amazing quality. I’m familiar with Avene products 30years now, best for sensitive skin , including male face. My husband noticed that looks a bit shiny after applying,- I patted my face with the tissue- results wonderful- I must say I’m using now as a foundation, perfect coverage. Probably everyone need to find the suitable way to use it, but to be fair- product is the best on the market at the moment for me. Thank you Avene again🙂
