An awful replacement formula

Avene Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream has been key in easing my sensitive, dermatitis-prone skin skin

I have recently purchased my third tube of this product because I have both seen and felt the benefits to my dermatitis-prone skin. I have areas of dermatitis on my hands, fingers, upper arms and face. Avene eases and softens the skin and provides great comfort to those very irritated and roughened areas. I am a big fan, as I have always been prescribed heavy-duty cortisone creams as treatment, and I would prefer using something like Avene that offers noticeable relief without the cortisone. My only wish is that it be offered in a larger, longer-lasting tube. I am most grateful that Jess, one of LovelySkin's customer support representatives, recommended this product to me. Thank you, Jess, and LovelySkin!

Falls Short of Tolerance Extreme Creme.
26 December 2022

I am so disappointed. My subscription for Tolerance Extreme Creme didn't go through, and when I called to find out why, I was told it was discontinued, and that Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream would be an adequate replacement. It is not. Extreme Creme, which I have been using every day for the last 4 years, makes my skin feel moist, plump and saturated without feeling sticky. It was sold in 50ml/1.6 FL OZ quantity. This recovery cream (which only contains 40ml/1.3 fl oz) feels too oily/slick in comparison. Does it work to moisturize? Yes. Is it worth the price tag? Unfortunately not. I will probably go back to using Cetaphil moisturizer that I can buy for a fraction of the price. Avene - please bring back the exact recipe for Tolerance Extreme Creme. ... MoreI am so disappointed. Great Moisturizer, Comparable to Luxury Moisturizers

As a skincare enthusiast, I wanted to be thorough with my impressions of this product. I've been testing this cream for a couple of weeks and now feel confident to share my thoughts. So my general impression of this cream? Moisturizing powerhouse. I have noticed that my skin has gotten plumper and softer over the past few days, at a rapid pace, and my skin feels fantastic. Let's start by talking about the texture. Most facial creams are lighter than this formula. Facial moisturizers usually tend to feel more gelatinous, especially the products from Korea and Japan. They tend to feel cool on the skin, which feels very satisfying. A lot of times, facial moisturizers tend to be lightly scented, and sometimes extremely scented. The Tolerance Control Cream is a very thick creamy formula, almost comparable to a hydrating body lotion. You can really feel the texture of the cream on your face, which is different from other moisturizers that are thinner and cooler on the skin. Compared to other creams I noticed my skin has been softer and plumper in a shorter period of time. The Tolerance cream is also fragrance-free, which is a feature I prefer. I like not having to smell my cream, or worry that the cream will irritate the skin. The only part that gives hesitation is the lack of preservatives in a product that is used in the bathroom for the face when water is often used in the bathroom and could potentially contaminate the cream with bacteria. Even natural skincare formulations include a preservative to address this issue. I feel like it might be an issue down the line. I also did a quick look up at the product's claims. This product claims to calm the skin in 30 seconds, provide 24 hours of moisturization, and help restore the skin barrier in 48 hours. I feel like most gentle moisturizers would also calm dry skin in 30 seconds. Based on my personal experiences, almost every moisturizer even heavily scented ones have calmed my skin in 30 seconds. Moisturizer will always reduce redness, make the skin feel less dry, and reduce irritation. But I do think there might be some truth to the 24 hours moisturization and claims of skin barrier restoration in 48 hours. This cream is very effective at providing moisture in a short period of time, while other creams would take a week or more to notice any effects. My skin is noticeably soft and plumper than usual. It's currently summer where I live, and the weather is hot and dry on my skin. During summer my skin tends to be drier because of the sun exposure and the drying effects of constantly blasting the air conditioner. Despite this, the areas in which this cream has been applied feel soft and moisturized, while other parts of my skin are dry. Let's move onto some of the benefits of this cream. There are a few things I like about this cream including the lack of fragrance in it. I love K-Beauty creams, but some brands can be a little overwhelming with their scents I'm talking about you Innisfree Orchid Juju Cream. Fragrance-free is always a great benefit. I enjoy not smelling the product and not worrying about fragrance irritating my skin. While I enjoy perfume, and I am quite a fragrance enthusiast, I prefer scentless products in my skincare line. I would rather avoid the chance of irritating my skin or dealing with scent notes that aren't to my taste. As you can tell, by the constant reviews of perfumes. The other benefit to this formula is it is also very moisturizing, which I noticed immediately. I also like the benefit of it being approved by the National Eczema Association. It means it's gentle and moisturizing enough for eczema-prone skin, which is a condition I suffer from. It seems to work as well on my Eczema as other NEA-approved creams. So after testing this would I actually purchase this myself? Avene's Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream is listed at $35 dollars. It's pricier than other creams I normally use. I usually spend between $8-15 on full-size facial moisturizers. But I have tried high moisturizers that retailed for $60. The Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream is definitely as equally effective as some of those luxury creams like Tatcha's. I noticed my skin felt very similar to how my skin felt while wearing Tatcha's The Dewy Skin Cream Replenishing & Plumping. The Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream and The Dewey Skin Cream have completely different ingredients but have similar results so it seems like a bargain buy for those who like the effects of luxury skincare. It perked my interest when I noticed that. Overall I have enjoyed using this cream over the last couple of weeks. I really enjoy how effective the Tolerance Cream is at moisturizing. I would definitely recommend this cream to both those with sensitive skin and those who want the effects of luxury skincare. It's really a fantastic product. it performs similarly to Tatcha but is much more affordable. If I didn't have a bucket full of moisturizer samples, I think I would give this formula another shot. also prefer unscented formulas when I make recommendations, and I could see family members who are nervous about too many chemicals enjoying this clean-beauty formula. It's definitely a solid product, and I'm glad for the opportunity to have tried it.

I use this moisturizer in the morning under my makeup without it messing with the longevity of my foundation and at night to wake up with beautiful supple skin in the morning. Unfortunately many moisturizers that i've tried in the past tend to leave my face either too tight or too greasy even for my super dry skin. Thankfully I was able to try this amazing product by Avène. I finally found my perfect medium! I had always heard so many good things about the brand but didn't know where to start so this has definitely made me understand all the hype. This moisturizer has quickly become a must-have even for incredibly sensitive skin like mine. My skin feels perfectly balanced and hasn't further aggravated my eczema but rather has had a soothing effect. It really feels like a spa experience and absorbs well to create the perfect clean slate without any oilyness or film left behind. Overall I have noticed less redness and peeling due to it's longlasting soothing and moisturizing effect. This is a product that I would consider worth investing in and I will definitely continue using it and recommending to friends as long as they sell it! Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Hope you have a wonderful day!

I've used Avene for ages and finally thought I'd write a review! If you have dry skin that's also sensitive, this cream will likely suit you well. It's very gentle and has no perceivable fragrance, so it just nourishes the skin without irritating it. It also doesn't irritate the eyes!! I've got really sensitive eyes, and I can actually use this cream to moisturize the undereyes and eyelids with no burning or irritation. With other creams (and I mean other good quality, expensive creams), if I get them anywhere near my eyes, my eyelids start to feel heavy, and I start feeling sleepy and having a bad headache. Those with dry skin will know the common issues moisturizers have: they're either too thin to properly nourish and relieve our skin or they're so thick and oily that they take hours to soak into the skin. Well, this cream is the perfect balance. Definitely thick enough, but soaks in relatively quickly (get this rich version, not the extra rich). Also, tons of other high quality (and low quality) creams have the annoying issue of leaving residue behind. They basically don't soak in entirely, so they leave this thin film on your skin that later starts peeling. This cream does not have that issue at all. Lastly, the cream does not react with make-up (as some creams do). So, all in all, this is the perfect moisturizer. I can't say if you'll feel the same way, since everyone's skin is different, but if you have dry sensitive skin like me, I predict you'll be very happy with this product. By the way, it's the same cream as the rich compensating cream that used to come in the short and wide glass container (packaged in a small square box).

Why do these companies keep discontinuing products that have a loyal base of customers who use it religiously? It makes no sense- like they’re just creating new products for excitement annd retiring old ones for no good reason. I’m really disappointed with this experience abd not sure what I think about a company that just discontinues products without reason.

Not the same as the original skin recovery cream
5 August 2022

I have struggled with my skin for years. I have rosacea, sensitive skin, and acne, as well as aging concerns. When I found the Avene Skin Recovery Cream, it was the best product I had ever used on my face. Not sure why they discontinued it, but I am not pleased. I ordered this Tolerance Skin Recovery Cream, hoping to have similar results - wrong. Within the first week of use, my skin broke out terribly. I have pimples where I never had them before on my face and they won't go away. My rosacea also flared up on my cheeks. I'm really displeased with this product and Avene has likely lost me as a customer after this change. For lovers of the original Skin Recovery Cream - this is not comparable.

The new Tolerance Control is NOT an adequate replace for Tolerance Extreme on my skin
8 January 2023

Tolerance Extreme was a wonderful product for those of us with sensitive and allergy prone skin. It was recommended by derms and judging by reviews on various sites beloved by consumers. Unfortunately, T Extreme was recently discontinued and replaced by T Control. T Control is VERY different from T Extreme. It has many more and different ingredients and it is irritating to my sensitive and allergy prone skin. I BEG YOU TO BRING BACK T EXTREME!! I WOULD PAY A SIGNIFICANT PREMIUM TO GET ITTTTT BACK. The questions ask what my primary Skin Concerns are -- plural concerns --but the form will one take one concern.
