I received the avent anti colic 11oz bottles and nipples through the Stellar Product Testing Panel! This review is my honest opinion. I was super excited to try the new anti colic bottle and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! It’s made my life so much easier. First off, can I just mention the 11oz feature without the bottle being super bulky?? WIN!!For reference: My daughter is 9 months old , formula fed, and suffers from reflux. Therefor a smaller nipple size for her age range per avent size guide is best suited for her. I just wanna start off by saying how big and spacious these bottles are. They hold 11 ounces of milk and are super light in weight. My son had no problem holding it and he did have to use two hands to hold onto the bottle because it is a bigger bottle. It was so easy to clean, super easy to set up the bottles with the nipple and the lid. These bottles are meant to be anti-colic So it’s supposed to reduce the air being ingested by the baby when he is sucking on the bottle. I felt that my son did not have excess gas buildup after eating and he definitely wasn’t fussy due to colic like he has in the past. Not an issue however, as I could buy the size 1 nipple without issue and easily replaced it. As far as I can see there is no preemie nipple, which I know some moms, myself included, use early on when bottle feeding breastfed babies <6 months, so that may limit the use for some in the earliest newborn phase, when colic is at the worst.

I really like the look and feel of these bottles. I used regular Philips Avent bottles with my older child and I like that these are a little thinner and taller than the older shorter/wider ones. I found them easy to hold and clean. Few, easy-to-wash parts which I like.I also like that somehow this anti colic valve is kind of hidden and not an actual hole that I have to worry about drips or which direction I hold the bottle like some others I have tried.I love that these attach right to my Philips manual pump and they fit perfectly in my Philips microwave sterilizer.Unfortunately my breastfed baby wouldn’t take these nipples though. We’ve tried giving him bottles numerous times but up until recently there was only one we could get him to take and only from me, no one else. He also tends to get gassy when he does take a bottle. He now uses sippy cups for all other beverages but we still have a hard time getting him to take milk from anything other than the breast so we were more than happy to test out a bottle but our hopes/expectations were low. At first our son would sway his head back and fort, almost playing with the new nipple or trying to figure out what this change was. After slowly stroking his cheek he would begin sucking and drinking his milk.Right away my husband and I noticed that his spit ups decrease a lot and our son was having less tummy aches. He was upset at times because the milk wasn’t coming out as fast as he was normally used to but he got used to it after a few days.From a parents perspective cleaning the Anti- Colic bottles was much easier than the other bottles we have been using. The wide opening made it easier to get our bottle brush in and the bottles clicked in easily to our sterilizer that we put in the microwave. The lids that the bottles come with make travelling with them very easy as well.One of the cons we have noticed is that our son is getting a little confused with his bottle nipple and the breast nipple. Prior to trying the bottles out, he had a strong latch and would latch right away to my breast nipple. Now he does the same head swaying we sometimes still see when he goes to the Anti-Colic bottles.Overall we have been pleased with the bottles and would recommend them to friends and family!
I was given this baby bottle to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.My 6 month old is currently refusing to take a bottle. As I’m sure lots of you moms and dads out there are also experiencing this, one of the things often recommended, is to try different brands and bottles. I was hopeful this bottle would be IT, the winner! I am very sad to report this was not the case, and although my baby loved to play with it, hold it and put the nipple in her mouth, she never actually drank from it.As a 2-3 month old, she definitely suffered from gas and spit up, so this could have been a potential solution for us. They are very simple to take apart and very easy to clean. They are also a nice slender size for little hands to hold on to.I wish very much that she took this, but unfortunately it didn’t pan out that way. I will continue to try and report back if we have success.

The large size is great for the larger feeds of the day without the bottle being too large for baby to hold. My 9 month old took to the nipple well and did not have any gas issues following the feed.I really appreciate that the bottle fits other Avent bottle tops so that if your baby doesn’t take the nipple, you could switch out the tops and still use the larger sized bottle. That was appreciated!Overall, my baby seemed to take to the bottle well and I loved having a larger bottle to use.

I was excited to use it and work it into my bottle rotation, but quickly noticed that it would have to be treated a bit differently than my other bottles. As it is short and wide, the mouth is wide, which was a challenge to use in my bottle warmer. I didn’t have a cap to place on the bottle so that it could safely be placed in my bottle warmer. Therefore, I had to place the bottle in a mug with hot water, and monitor the temperature myself.Every morning I prepare the bottles that I need for the day and place them in the fridge. As these bottles are wider than my current bottles, they end up taking more shelf room in the fridge.The pieces come apart very easily, and are actually a much larger size than my other small bottles. The nipple piece is large, and the cap is also noticeably larger. This came in handy when I placed the pieces in the dishwasher. The pieces are hard to lose. All of the pieces were very easy to clean and sanitize.I noticed that when I used the bottle to feed my son, he was able to drink the 4 ounces much quicker than normal. It normally takes him about 20-25 minutes to finish a bottle, yet with the Philips Avent Anti-colic Bottle, he was about 15 minutes. This difference is important to me as my son takes approximately 8 bottles a day. That’s a savings of 80 minutes of my time. My son wasn’t gassy after using the bottle, and didn’t cry after finishing his bottle like he usually does.In general, I would consider using these bottles. I would need to purchase a new bottle warmer cap to fit the wide mouth though.
