For the money, it seems like an excellent buy.I understand contractors who use it daily might not get a year's use out of it, but I don't think that's any reflection of poor quality, just a fact of the limits of ballistic nylon. Something in leather would last longer but would also cost a fortune and weigh a whole lot more.MY ONE BEEF with this item is it's designed for REALLY BIG GUYS. Plenty of deep pockets for nails and other fasteners too, random tools and whatever else you want to load up. A couple of the pockets on the outside kind of snap open and shut, which will be really great for keeping lose fasteners from falling all over the job site and small tools like knives, screwdrivers, etc. from falling all over the place and getting lost. I will probably use it to carry a slim note pad to copy down measurements on. Just having it there is handy.

Heavy Duty Tool Rig but not perfect.

This tool rig is built to allow you to carry more than the ordinary tool belt for longer and more productive work sessions Padded shoulder straps and a cross-chest snap mean you can weigh this down without it moving too much or causing too much shoulder and back strain. But there are downsides..The cell phone pocket isn't going to hold any modern day smartphones, you'd have to stick with a flip phone or the indestructible Nokias from 15 years ago.Never been a fan of the hammer holder being dead center in the back, I tend to strain my shoulder muscle trying to reach back an get it.The side pouches are located at the hips, I prefer them a bit more forward for easier access. Heavy-Duty utility belt for big projects

If you're a do-it-yourselfer, but (like me) have no one around to act as your "gopher", you probably have gotten used to hauling a tote around with you, filled with the tools and nails and screws you need. That works up to a point, but if you have to work on a ladder, or you need the tools or hardware more closely within reach, a work apron or belt is great. This is like the superhero of tool belts. It holds a LOT, its heavy-duty construction will not let you down, and its (removable) suspenders offer enhanced weight support and distribution if you find you need to carry more. Here's a rundown of features:SUSPENDERS: Nice padding for shoulders. It holds a LOT, its heavy-duty construction will not let you down, and its (removable) suspenders offer enhanced weight support and distribution if you find you need to carry more. Here's a rundown of features:SUSPENDERS: Nice padding for shoulders. Wide, strong straps that are highly adjustable--can be quickly altered to fit either me or my petite wife. 5" tall x 2" wide x 1" deep pocket with a velcro flap on the left chest strap that is big enough (and stretchy enough) to securely hold my iPhone 8. On the right chest strap, there are four horizontal loops that could hold certain tools, I guess, though I haven't used them yet. They're about the size of my thumb. Maybe useful for writing utensil storage? In middle of back is a carrying handle, which allows easy carrying of the whole rig when you're not wearing it, and is great for hanging it when it's not in use. These shoulder straps are easily removed if you want just the belt for certain jobs.BELT: Wide and strong, and *just* long enough to fit my big (44") girth. Belt clip is very secure. The belt has a sort of a cushioned liner that is held on the belt itself by four belt loops, but it also serves a second function: It velcros all the other components into place. As such, all the placements I use to describe the components below are changeable--you could swap where which pockets are, or even remove one or something. But the way it was configured when it shipped looked practical to me, and I have not felt a need to customize it. (At least, not yet.)POCKETS AND HOOPS:* On the left side is a very large pocket, about 8" long and deep, and 3" wide. Within it are two 2" wide, 5" deep pockets that are attached to another, bigger (6" wide and deep) pocket. There are loops for holding tools or hardware on both the inside (four 1.5") and outside (four 2" and one 3" wide fabric ones, and a 2.25" metal one that's 0.25" deep).* On the right side is a similarly large, but bigger (8" long and deep, and 5" wide) that has a second big pocket attach to the outside of it. The outer pocket is about 8" long, 6" deep, and 3" wide. Both of these pockets have flexible metal, hinged frames that sort of pop open into position, and then pop back into their closed position. These are EXCELLENT for large quantities of nails or screws. Woven into the wall of the bigger one are three small pockets, 2" wide and 4" deep; on its outside on the front are three more pockets (one 3" wide x 3" deep, and the others 1" wide x 3" deep), and on the back, a fabric tool holder (that comes with a heavy-duty clip-on 2" hook that could be used to haul wire or rope). The other big pocket (the outer, not-quite-as-big one) has four fabric loops (2" each).* Finally, on the back center of the belt is a 3" metal half-circle metal holder, big enough and sturdy enough (and well-placed enough) that I have used it for a 3 lb hammer. In all, this is a carefully planned rig, and I am certain that it will last longer than my career as handyman. It is pro-level and actually comfortable to wear, even when weighed down. My only criticism is that it is made in China, but nowadays that is so common that I can't view that as disqualifying for an otherwise excellent product.

This is a lot more than a typical tool belt. I upgraded from a generic tool belt with fixed bags and a hammer loop, and just the configurability of the this tool rig is impressive. Here's a quick rundown of the good and not so good:Good:- The harness keeps the belt from sliding down, and takes the weight off your shoulders. For me it's only necessary when I have it fully loaded, but I could see it being great for folks with not so defined waistlines...- The snap shut pockets are great. So many times I've kneeled down or leaned over something just to dump the whole pocket.- Being able to rearrange the pockets and hooks based on the task is convenient. I put my drill/driver in the pouch.- Snap close pockets would be better on the outside pockets on both sides.- Phone pocket? I'd have to dig out my old Nokia if I wanted to get a phone in that pocket.- Would be nice if it had a clip belt instead of a buckle. I had to cut almost 18" off the belt so it wasn't in my way. Also, be aware that this is sized for big/tall people. I'm 5' 7", 32" waist and have the harness at the smallest adjustment.

Nice tool belt
22 October 2019

Let me preface this by saying I'm not in the trades, I'm a weekend warrior and home improvement guy.Having said that, I really like this tool belt. It's sturdy, well-made and constructed. You can tell it's going to last a very long time, durable. It's got more than enough places to strap on tools, and keep them handy for projects. It's comfortable, and easily adjustable.I was several other tool belts over the years, but this one seems much better made and durable. Plenty of pockets for nails and screws. I wish I'd had this earlier.Overall, I'd recommend this product to anyone thinking of buying or upgrading their tool belt. It's even got enough room to slap on a couple of additional devices like I sometimes want, such as drill/driver hangers. I'm very pleased.

No what I'd hope for

After having used it for several times, I'd say that the basic idea behind the suspenders is a good one. That said, I believe that the implementation leaves a bit to be desired. The material loops inside the pouches are too small to fit around the handles of the screwdrivers I use, so the screwdrivers can't be inserted in the pouch in a manner that keeps them from falling out... They loops are also too large to hold other items that I frequently use (spring loaded center punch, nail set, carpenters pencil, etc.), so I've had to modify how I put tools in the rig.The smaller pouches are too deep to hold 1/4" hex bits in a way that makes it possible to retrieve them when a bit change is needed. The holder for the cell phone would likely work well for a vintage flip phone, but can't get my iPhone 6 in a protective case inserted in the holder. Disappointing. The four loops on the right strap (side opposite the cell phone holder) aren't particularly useful to me. Only one is small enough to grip a carpenters pencil. Not clear to me what else might fit there. On the plus side, the monster hook is very nice. I've been using one for years and really like it. Another plus is that the suspenders take the load off my waist and transfer it to my shoulders. The belt is sufficiently stiff that it doesn't buckle under the load of an impact driver (or a drill or circular saw), but I haven't yet added a second monster hook.I'll likely continue to evaluate and modify how I pack tools in the space available. Would have been much nicer had I not needed to do so.

I wanted to evaluate the AWP rig with the Trapjaw feature to see how it compared to other manufactures. After I unpacked the tool rig I transferred tools and supplies from comparable pouches into the AWP rig.FIT, FINISH, FEATURES: It’s not a bad looking setup. All the parts look sturdy and durable. The Lowes web page list several features. Here’s my take on each one“TrapJaw pouches provide easy access and secure storage” There are two spring loaded pouches on the right side. I found them difficult to use and time will tell if they will become easier, or harder, to use over time. If the springs rust then they will probably become unusable. The pocket closest to the belt is configured with two smaller pouches on the front and several tool loops on the inside. I found that pliers on the front pouches became difficult to insert or remove if the pocket was closed. If I put too many tools in the pouch or tools in the loops that stuck out of the mouth of the pouch the Trapjaw wouldn’t close. The outermost Trapjaw pocket on the right side is more of a supply pocket. But when I loaded up even a moderate amount of deck screws the Trapjaw wouldn’t close enough to keep the screws from falling out if the tool belt was set down.“Padded suspension distributes weight evenly and allows for all day comfort” The suspender strap is comfortable, and the spring clips are easy to attach or remove. But they are no more comfortable than the other tool belt suspenders from other manufactures.“Heavy-duty 1680D polyester construction with reinforced seams” I didn’t notice any obvious difference between the AWP construction and my other belts.“Large capacity tool pouches for maximum storage” Again, most tool pouches from all the manufactures have large pockets.“Professional grade for everyday use” Nice phrase, no difference from my other bags in the same price point.“Includes monster hook tool holder” I personally don’t have use for a tool hook, I use a drill/driver pouch for my drills and impact drivers. But that is more my personal preference.“Built in pocket on suspender for quick access” Touted as a cell phone holder. It’s been 10 years since I owned a cell phone that small. But this is a common failing on the tool belts and pouches I’ve seen. The phone pocket is too small.“Includes metal hammer holder” Nice holder, in the middle of the back of the belt. I’m to old and stiff to reach it. My other tool belts have integrated hammer loops on the tool pouches at the side. There are two supply compartments on the left side pouch. They are deep and big enough to put my whole hand in while grabbing for parts. I put electrical connectors in each one to see how they performed with parts notorious for falling out, and as I suspected, they failed. They lean out so far that if you put much in them they will let the contents pour out. Kneeling or leaning just makes it worse. These two pouches would be the ideal spot to try the Trapjaw closure or to put a velcro flap cover. Some other tool belt manufactures have belts with clip buckles. The AWP double prong and grommet takes longer to buckle and unbuckle and there is no quick and easy way to tuck the tip out of the way.USE AND OPERATION: I loaded the right side pouch for general DIY maintenance and the left side for wiring and splicing electrical. Then I wore the belt around the shop for the morning doing general work. The suspenders did a good job of distributing the weight. The pouches worked ok holding the pliers, screw drivers, abd markers. As mentioned above, the two left supply compartments are poorly designed and allowed things to fall out too easily. As with many tool belts, the pouches are a bear when you take the belt off. Since the tool belt is looped through the pouches there is no way to quickly or easily take them off before you remove the tool rig. Electrical splicers spilled out on the floor and some of the tools pushed out of the loops. Removable pouches would make this rig so much easier to use.SUMMARY: Comparable quality and features with other tool rigs, but missing some of the features that make other manufactures offerings better for the money.PROS: Durable, comfortableCONS: Trapjaw not effective, Hammer loop in back, old style belt buckle, supply compartments don’t keep things in.

Rugged multipurpose tool rig
22 October 2019

This tool rig is very well made. It is highly adjustable and holds all the bits and pieces needed for all types of projects around the house and yard. Screw driver slots, hammer/drill hook and generous divided pockets for screws, nails, bits or project pieces are well placed and handy for fewer trips up and down the ladder. I’m always trying to multipurpose tool accessories, and this rig can be worn backwards and used to support my weed eater. A Velcro strap with attached metal loop is very handy to clip my heavy weed eater to when I need to clear a large area on my property. The shoulder straps are padded and the wide belt cinches easily for a snug and stable fit. The pockets hold extra line, battery and hand clippers to reduce trips to the garage to get the job ... MoreThis tool rig is very well made.
