B-Hyve Generation 2 Wi-Fi Hub for Smart Watering Timers

This system is a great solution for me to water while I’m gone. I can also set up a system to turn on in case of a forest fire while I’m away. I had difficulty getting it to work and see the valves, but after digging figured out it needs to be on a 2.4 gHz WiFi, won’t work on 5.0. Having Starlink, learned that you can split the system so you have 2.4. Reason for the 4 stars.

Awesome Addition To My B-Hyve Setup

The product shipped very quickly and installation was simple. The app automatically detected the hub and started using it without any issues. I was so impressed when I got a message from the watering system saying that it was implementing a rain delay when a storm was approaching. Love it!

Garbage

I had previously purchased a large package of flood sensros along with two hubs. The app is clunky but gets the job done. Now I bought two gen 2 hubs along with the XD sprinkler controllers. Hands down the worst 'smart' experience I have had. Most of my house is 'smart'... I am experienced. These don't show cureent status, disconnect/reconnect at-will and are a pain to setup. I will be returning everything.

Gen two hub can't control gen one timers.

Still costs too much. Should be built into each timer. Gen one timer doesn't work with gen two hub. Gen two timer doesn't work with gen one hub. Timers freeze easy, then crack. Timers bake in the sun and break. Way too pricy.

Good price for this product

Useful device at a fair price. I have two irrigation controllers on opposite sides of the house, so the one hub did not have the range to reach both controllers. The prices on these are quite varied, and this is really the best price for such a simple and useful device.

Good product. Occasional connectivity issues.

Good product when finally paired. Initial pairing instructions are missing one step. If Your B-hyve hose timer was previously connected and used thru Bluetooth, You have to disconnect Bluetooth connection for this Smart Hub to pair properly.

May not be worth the extra expense.

The likes include easy setup and straightforward connection to the app, which enhances the overall user experience. However, some dislikes include frequent hub to timer disconnects if they aren't very close (less than 15'), and the automatic weather delay hasn't been triggered yet, sometimes leading to unnecessary watering during rainy conditions. Switching between devices is also seen as burdensome. Nonetheless, the hub's potential to improve with better rain delay functionality and its remote access capabilities are the main justifications for keeping it.

Only works with a 2.4 Ghz router?

I was unable to get this hub to work with my Nighthawk router, despite spending 45 minutes on the phone with their helpdesk. The y finally told me that this hub only works with a 2.4 Ghz router, and though my router is a dual 2.4 and 5 Ghz router, it would not work, even when I shut off the 5 Ghz capability on the router. This just doesn't make amy sense to me, and when I asked the tech to bump it up to a higher level of support, she hung up on me.

Should have gotten this first time around!

I loved the timer, and I might have continued just letting the automatic watering program run but for the heavy rains we get in Georgia. I recently added the Wi-Fi hub so that I don't have to remember to turn the program off during the wet weeks.Setting this up was easy, and I haven't thought about it since.

This will be going back along with the timers

I bought two of the b-hyve timers for my hoses front and back yards after getting tired of dodging the sprinklers and forgetting to turn them on with any regularity. The only issue I had was running from one end of the house to the other to get into BT range. That plus the promise of "Smart watering " based on my location and the ability to control the sprinklers from anywhere made this a must have for me although I passed on it the first time. The devices connected easily to the hub. The problem is that with this connected, I am getting 0 functionality. My back yard shows green across the board but if I try to test or manually water, no results. there is a schedule showing for the back yard but the sprinklers do not turn on. Like the backyard, I cannot manually control it unless I get within BT range and switch to that type of control. Speaking of which, the BT range is horribad . My outdoor spigot is on the front porch and I literally have to walk out onto the porch to connect. 5 feet. BT range is generally 30 feet. For example, I can have my earbuds in and go down an entire floor and still get audio, choppy though it may be, but I can't connect to these things more than 5 feet away. I'm almost sure this thing is relying on the crappy BT to communicate with the timers. Makes it a non-starer. CS sucks too. You can only leave a message and every time they call its from a different number. so, in spite of adding their phone number to my list of allowed callers I missed two calls from them. finally resorted to text message and last heard from them four hours ago requesting info but offering no solutions.
