My lo has tried most of the popular snacks you will find at the stores and he has either been unable to get a good grasp and get it in his mouth or they break apart to easily and he instead finds it fun to just break them rather than eat them. But with the pick-me stitcks they are rigid enough for him to grasp without breaking but dissolve slowly enough for him not to struggle eating. They are about a finger width and length in size so if you are babyled feeding this are the perfect sized snacks for your lo! The slow dissolve is great because he can naw on the stick and get some teething comfort and he’s not spitting out big chunks of the snack because he just eats the mush it turns into. The packaging is good for the most part; there is a sticker on the back for it to be “resealable” but like most of those stickers they don’t really work so I found it best to just take them out and put them in an airtight container for ease of access and not having them become stale. They are an orange color but they haven’t stained any of my los clothes and it’s so nice to not have to worry about making sure he has a bib on if we are out and about! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this toddler snack! I loved the clean, white packaging that Little Bellies Baby Bellies Organic Strawberry Pick-Me Sticks came in. It is totally something that would catch my eye on the shelf of a store, and clearly marks the ingredients and that they are organic (which I try to buy as much as possible!)My one year old really enjoyed these. His fist could easily hold one, and I loved that they are nice and long so that he was occupied with his yummy snack for a while! He had 1-2 at a time when I offered them and finished both each time! So I would definitely recommend these more for babies and young toddlers.My only suggestions was to have a resealable option for the package, or have them come in mini packages inside of 1-2 sticks. Since they are just snacks, it would be nice to easily throw a couple in the diaper bag, or have a couple in the high chair and reseal the bag so they don’t get stale!
I was excited to receive these snacks to try as part of the Stellar product testing panel. My favorite thing about them, hands down, was the size and shape of them! I can’t think of a single other snack for the earliest feeding kiddos that is similar to these; they are so simple for little fingers to pick up and hold onto because they are longer and thicker than other comparable puff-type products. My 9 month old loved them because he could easily feed them to himself and didn’t run into any issues with dropping them. The texture is also nice in that it has that satisfying crunch but still “melts” away in the mouth, making it safe for those who haven’t really mastered the full chew and swallow yet. I think they could use a bit more strawberry flavor as they were pretty bland, but assume that is somewhat purposeful as they are designed for the youngest palates. This is also a reasonable trade-off for having fairly few ingredients and no real added sugar. I would note that the “crunch” of the texture does lead to some crumbs so probably not the best choice for a car snack or place you are trying to keep extra clean. Overall, I think these are a great option for the youngest snackers!
