Good product but pulling string for opening needs upgrade. Otherwise it works well.
It does what I expected it to do. Pulls down, folds out. No issues getting to the roof.
Installation of this ladder is certainly not for a beginner and is a 2 person job. Made sure I read the instructions several times and watched how others do it on youtube. In overseas markets Bailey is called Werner. I did not strictly follow the instructions and used my own timber screws as the ones it came with are too big/long. Fortunately my roof trusses are spaced just right for the ladder so no sawing is needed. I repurposed the existing manhole in my garage and simply added an extra timber noggin in addition to the 2 support braces. Instead of pushing the ladder up the opening, I recommend one person pulling from the top (I used light duty ratchet straps) and another pushing from below. These ladders fit well and the hinge works nicely. Gas struts are much better than the old spring style. The only thing to note is that the aluminium ladders appear a bit flimsy. Although this won’t affect the strength, they just don’t feel as sturdy as you might prefer.
This attic ladder is great and good value for money. The only issues encountered are the unrealistic instructions which mean you need to rely on experience; the metal on the ladder is not super rigid and i took off the string pull down and opted for a hook and long wooden pole to pull it down.
Great design, good quality. Wouldn't recommend for average non tradie DIY installation. I read instructions & watched multiple videos on YouTube to get some great tips. Couldn't fault ladder. Would definitely buy again.
This is a really good attic ladder – the design is excellent though the assembly was a bit sloppy. We had to get a replacement because a support arm had been installed incorrectly. Werner (who own Bailey) were very helpful and replaced the entire ladder. They wouldn’t let me repair it – which would have been a simple matter and also ecologically more agreeable - the original ladder had to be destroyed. That aside, I would definitely buy this attic ladder again if I had the need for another. It works really well and is quiet – the gas struts lock the door tight shut when it is closed. The rubber feet (as per other Bailey ladders) are non-scratching to shiny floors but stick well when under pressure. the ladder itself works quite nicely, but the pull cord should be replaced with a small ring and a hook pole should come with the unit, much nicer.
Great product to provide easy access to extra storage space at home.
