Ever since I bought my first pair of Balega socks I've decided to buy this brand only. Part of my workout regime is walking, on average I walk about 30 miles a week. I have tried many brands of athletic socks with less than satisfactory results. Having found Balega brand and using them for months now, I am pleased that they are everything they advertise them to be. Comfortable, wicking, and durable. These are my forever brand.
I bought these to wear in hot weather in general, and for a kayaking trip in particular. My feet were comfortable for the whole trip, which included 90°+ highs and icy-cold water getting in & out of the river. Once I got my feet out of the river and in to the kayak, the water drained out of my shoes (Merrell All Out Blaze Aero Sport) and out of these socks. Moments out of the water, the socks were dry (or at least dry enough), and my feet were perfectly happy. The padding is in all the right places, the fit is excellent, and I really liked wearing these socks.I have only one complaint: the weird colors and patterns. I would *love* to use a pair of Blister Resist socks for hiking, but need crew height for my boots. Since these Quarter Crew socks are very nearly perfect, I would like to get the same fiber content in a taller sock. How about it, Balega?
I've been running with this sock exclusively for the last 4 years, anything from 5 miles to 105. My weird shaped feet were once prone to blisters in just about every shoe/sock combo until I started using these Blister Resist socks. They are comfortable, durable, and they do what they say. I've run many, many ultras in these socks and as long as I'm not running in ones that are too worn out, I do not get blisters and my feet come out looking looking WAY better than the stompers my running buddies pull out of their shoes. I have several pairs that I bought 4 years ago and they are somehow still hanging on.
I love Balega socks anyway but wanted to try a quarter sock style for my trail marathon. The quarter sock comes farther up past your ankle, fits snuggly, and helps to keep small rocks, dirt, and debris from flicking into your sock as easily as the lower cut styles. This race was my first marathon (I trained in the socks, too) and they were just what I needed. Comfy, soft, cushioned, not too hot, and I never had to stop to get a rock out of my sock, ;-) and NO BLISTERS!! I'd highly recommend. I'll be buying more.
I wore a pair of the socks for a 75 mile run and the material was literally fraying and balling up in places and coming off. I did not expect this for a quality brand sock. I have worn Balega in the past and they have never done this before. I have a second pair that I purchased with the ones that I wore and will see how they hold up. Don't get me wrong, they did protect my feet from getting blisters but I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the product.

These socks are incredibly thick (thicker than my wool hiking socks). They are very comfortable but due to the thickness, I cannot wear tight fitting shoes with them. I only wear my 2E width shoes with these socks. The thickness indicated to me that these shoes would be durable, but on the very first wash I was disappointed to see that they pilled badly.They are too warm to wear in summer but I am using them once a week on my winter recovery runs. I ordered online and they took a long time to arrive and even then, were delivered to the wrong address.
