Bambu Lab AMS
AMS Lite adds vibrant colours to your 3D prints, unlocking endless possibilities for your creativity to thrive! AMS Lite enables automatic filament backup, effortlessly switching to a new spool when the current one runs out. This ensures a smooth and uninterrupted printing process while minimizing filament waste from manual spool changes. The spring-loaded rotary spool holder secures spools by the central hole, offering improved compatibility, particularly with paper-based spools. The AMS Lite features a straightforward and open design, making it incredibly easy to service. Its translucent shell allows users to clearly view the internal operation, simplifying troubleshooting and maintenance. AMS Lite enables Bambu Lab printers to utilise snap-away support material or dissolvable filament, making support removal effortless and stress-free. Bambu Lab filaments are equipped with RFID, allowing the AMS to automatically recognize the material and apply optimal settings. The RFID tag seamlessly syncs with Bambu Studio for a hassle-free experience. For non-Bambu Lab filaments, settings can be manually configured in Bambu Studio or directly on the printer.

This is a must-have for every 3D Printer Vendor! Having multiple reels of filament on call is something EVERY manufacturer should implement. In short It Just Makes Good Sense to have this capability. My only concern is that the drive mechanisms need to be metal or at least offer that option as an upgrade for long term durability.

I already had one AMS that was bundled with my Bambu Labs X1C, but decided to add a second one so I can choose from 8 filament spools without manually changing them out. This required I spend $40 or so for a "hub" that replaces the factory-supplied splitter on the back of the printer where the AMS attaches to it. But now that I added the required hub, I can add up to 4 AMS units if I wish.Besides the obvious ability this adds to do multi-color prints? The X1C also allows specifying that it start using a second spool in the AMS if one runs out in the middle of a print job. So you can load multiple spools of the same filament to ensure jobs don't stop in the middle of printing.Only reason I really can't give this product a full 5 stars is I think it could use a ... MoreI already had one AMS that was bundled with my Bambu Labs X1C, but decided to add a second one so I can choose from 8 filament spools without manually changing them out. You're not supposed to use this with filament on cardboard spools, for example. And these days, that's a growing number of the spools sold. You can print adapter rings to snap around them but some people report filament retraction errors popping up more often when using those. (Not sure the rollers turn them without slipping a little bit, at least in some cases?) You also have to hassle with other adapters or re-spooling filament if you have non-standard size spools like the 250 gram "sample" sizes.)I'd like to see a variation of the AMS that can handle different types/sizes of spools, out of the box.
