A year later, finally a GREAT game.

It's true, this launch in late 2020 was a bit of a disaster in every aspect. Got to play it a year later when I finally got my hands on a Series X and I will say that while I experienced my fair share of typical open-world glitches, this is a largely polished product that feels like the ultimate power fantasy. Call it Cyber-Skyrim and you wouldn't be far off the mark. The stories are soldily written with some fairly predictable turns and twists, but are nonetheless enjoyable and your actions have definite impact on the progress/path you take throughout the game (i.e. opening new routes and closing off others, making for a ton of replay value). The city has a real doom & gloom feel to it, the menacing Corporations loom over everything in a constant reminder of who's running thiungin Night City, and the sprawled Cali desert on the ends of town remind you just what it takes to keep a metropolis like that running - in terms of power, water, and livelihoods. Gunplay is solid and weaponry is varied and all feels markedly different. The skillsets you choose to groom will tweak your character to favor a stealth approach, front-end, or technical - without ever closing off access to the others so you don't get oversatured by approaching missions the same way over and over. Overall a very impressive product and worth the time they took to get it right - good on CD Projekt Red for sticking by their product and not letting it fall by the wayside. Looking forward to 2022 and the DLC!

There are countless reviews describing how bad this game is and how poor the launch of it was, so I won't go into that here so much. Overall, I had a good, positive experience putting in 70+ hours into the story and side quests. Overall, I would recommend this game for the story and unique open world.I played this at launch on a PS4. Many people said the game was unplayable on current gen consoles. Yes, I did experience many a crash, too many in fact. I would lose 10-20 minutes of progress because the game would crash. NPCs would glitch and pose in strange positions. Even with all the bugs and distractions, I was still versed in the game, in the world of Night City. Even with the problems, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. I had faith in this company and I understand that may be misguided at this point. However, I tried to enjoy the game for the story and the ambition, and I ignored the fact that this game shouldn't have come out yet, at least not on current gen consoles.I have not played this game since early 2021. I know a lot has been updated, fixed and changed. I am confident this game is even better than it was at launch. The horrible launch this game had cannot be ignored and I understand how that sour taste will linger for most players. Once they come out with more patches, updates and expansions, I will be sure to pick this game up again - but on PC. This game really shouldn't have been made for current gen. BUT with that being said, I still thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Bad at launch, good today.

I was lucky to jump into a relatively bug free experience, and so I was able to focus on the story and gameplay. Night City, where the game takes place, is amazing; streets, roads, alleys, highways, buildings, all feel like they belong there, not like a group of game developers drew it up during a meeting. Gameplay is nothing mind-blowing but satisfying nonetheless; gunplay is competent enough, interacting with the world is fun, though I will say the driving sucks. Storyline was a bit underwhelming, but not bad by any means. This games is awesome!. It meet so many different topics all in one game. What the future will be what it is like and just a whole new different perspective. It's a fast pace game. You got to fix your weapons before moving on to the next wave of enemies. It's definitely a fun story. I like how there different story modes difficulty levels .you can even choose from male or female. It definitely takes my imagination on a roller coaster. It has the option to make you answer the way you choose. It's just so well thought out and definitely worth buying.

I got this on sale for $10, and it was definitely worth that. I'd also say it's definitely not worth full price. So it's up to you to decide where in between that it falls for you. I played this months after release, when it had had enough time to get some patches in, and I had a small but still noticeable number of bugs and glitches (for example, one woman with invisible legs in the starting area and other graphical glitches, a couple quests not progressing until I reloaded my game, a couple crashes, etc.), but nothing too horrible. The game world also felt a little empty. For example, I'd be driving through the wide-open desert at night and see a sea of taillights in the distance, but as I got closer the lights would disappear and there'd be like 2 cars on the ... MoreI got this on sale for $10, and it was definitely worth that. Things like that.As for the game itself, the main quests were great. Good story, fun missions, no complaints there. But the side quests were very hit or miss, mostly miss, being repetitive "go here, kill people, do a thing, turn in," by-the-numbers filler for the most part. Combine that with the more empty world and my recommendation would be to, unless you're a completionist, just stick to the main quests and throw in a side quest every once in a while for variety.

Expectations successfully subverted and exceeded

This is probably the best value I've ever found in gaming. As we all know, C2077 had an absurdly poor launch, pushing itself into leagues with No Man's Sky and BF2042.That's no longer the case, especially with the free Xbox Series X/S update; the vast majority of all bugs have been patched, content has been updated, framerates and display quality are solid, etc. The game is 100% playable and fun now.The story, the characters, the city, the lore... all of it exceeded my low expectations. And when I did run into the odd bug, it wasn't frustrating, it was actually just kind of funny; nothing game-breaking as it used to be.If you want a huge amount of hours playing an incredibly immersive game, go ahead and buy it.

Cyberpunk 2077 is easily one of the best games I've played in a long time. Predominantly a first-person shooter, set in a dystopian future with plethora of technology to aid you in hacking into the various computerised systems of your enemies. Plot has some great twists and turns, with a certain very famous person lending their talents. Controls are generally pretty good, though the sprint button (L3 on the PS4) feels choppy and is unreliable. For that reason alone it would be nice to be able to re-map the buttons, but no such luck yet. The frame rate isn't always great, unless you're running a HDTV with a ps4 pro. Luckily frame drop doesn't spoil things too much. Luckily frame drop doesn't spoil things too much. Graphically the attention to detail, draw distance and moody atmosphere are all present and impressive, although the streets of Night City sometimes feel sparsely populated which is a pity. Influences on the game include GTA, Portal and the Matrix, though most obvious is Blade Runner as a genre pulling Night City forward from an even more grimdark future. Cyber feels quite big as an open-world, without being overwhelming. Dialogue is intelligent, complex and fits well with the imagined changes in common use of terms, "Eddies" meaning ready cash, for example. Options to choose a variety of responses have yet to affect plot, but I'm still on my first playthrough so we will see. The diverse culture and history of Night City are all there in exemplary condition. There are lots of sidequests of different types, plenty of optional missions, and a variety of play styles available to suit your approach. The learning curve is pitched just right, and there's lots of skills, a nice pace of character growth, good advancement mechanics and plenty of crafting options for abilities, utilities and gear. The variety of weapons opens up to include all kinds of fun ways to blast your enemies, and includes a wide range of guns, grenades, blades and more. Close quarter combat is also well catered for, though can sometimes feel chaotic and choppy without the option to play in third-person view. The option to fashion your character with body-mods and a huge choice of clothing adds to the sense of personal investment. At around 20-25, great value overall.

Well this game finally hit clearance and has gotten a lot of patching since it released. This actually could and should have been a great game. If you have a high end PC then it was worth playing but it was just released broke on last gen x86 consoles, Well after numerous patches it does run a fairly stable 30fps on PS4 pro. They put more attention on the PS4 optimizations so I think it generally runs better on pro than XB1X. I wouldn’t even bother with ps4 or xb1 standard as it still struggles. It runs decent on ps5 or Series X/S but if you want to play it on those systems I would wait for the optimized version next year as it will finally run properly. It reminds me a bit of Mass Effect Andromeda. EA stuck with ME4 and improved it a lot technically over time and its now worth playing. CDPR doing the same and not abandoning the game even after its disastrous start.
