Amazing Wireless Headphones

Finding high quality wireless ear buds has always been a problem for me. I have tried and reviewed several different ones but it is always hard to find ones that are comfortable in my ears and work well. These headphones are by far my favorite wireless ear buds I have ever tested. Two great things about them are the microphones/ call quality and the touch controls they have. Making phone calls on wireless ear buds especially in noisy places can be tricky but after some in depth testing these headphones do an AMAZING job. Everyone I made phone calls to, stated that could hear me with no problem no matter what kind of setting I was in or how much background noise there was. I was very impressed with the call quality. The second great feature is the touch controls. They work seamlessly and easily without much effort. They allow you to do almost anything you would need to include change volume, answer and end calls, play/pause music and many more. They come with 5 different tips for different ear types and the fitment in my ear was perfect. Battery life is amazing stand alone and the charging case adds even more overall battery life. The charging case has a leather and high quality design and I love that it is able to wireless charge or charge via USB-C. These are high quality and premium ear buds and they do come with a price. However, they are well worth it and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great pair of headphones.

I've had them for a week, and I only charged the base once. The tap controls are pretty easy to get used to, and it responds to the presses and taps pretty reliably. The sound quality is nice. Very clear highs and midrange. The bass drops off, so there's not a whole lot of thump, but it doesn't sound like it's coming through a tin can either. The quality really comes through on phone calls. I can hear very well on conference calls, and they say I sound loud and clear. It's very handy to be able to use Google Assistant through it, although I can't figure out how to allow these to unlock the phone, like most of my other Bluetooth stuff can.Overall, they're good quality, good sound, great features.

I haven't found a way to independantly pair each headphone, which I thought (and could be wrong) was a feature of BT5.1.The fit is perfect! They go in and they stay in without any discomfort or wiggle. I don't have to keep reaching up and fiddling with them for them to stay in place. They are advertised to get 35 hours of play. To achieve this, you place them back into the case when you are done and they charge from a battery that is built into the case. I typically work 8 hours a day during this quarrantine and listen to music using them and also talk on the phone pretty much the whole day. I was able to get 35 hours out of them without a problem, in fact, almost 35 hours dead on! The case has a small micro-usb cable that you plug into your PC or other USB power source, but .... this is my only knock on these headphones - that wire is yet another cord to get lost. I have an inexpensive pair of wireless headphones (which are significantly less full-featured!) that have a similar charging system but that cable is permenantly attached to the case and hides away when you don't need it. I really wished B&O had done something similar here. They have touch gestures to achieve different tasks for usage, but for the life of me I can't seem to remember them from one day to the next so I had to keep a cheat sheet in my pocket all week, which I don't have in front of me at the moment, but that having been said, if you can remember them, they work, work well and are easy to do!Call quality - WOW - I tested being both on the end where the headphones were and called my wife while she was wearing them so I could hear both ends of the call. VERY crisp and clear! It did a great job of filtering out background noise and pulling my wife's voice out of the noise as well as when I had them in my ears when taking a call the caller sounded as if they were in the room with me. NICE JOB there! The highs and lows aren't quite where I expected them to be - that having been said though it wasn't disappointing! Clean is the best way I can put it, not overwhelming but by no stretch of the word was the sound "Flat".I have no reservations about recommending these headphones to someone who wants a pair that's on the leading edge of technology and wants to sound good !

Excellent sound experience
2 March 2020

Came with a selection of buds to find my perfect fit. The headphones are very comfortable and seem to block out incoming sound and prevent noise leakage even though they are not noise cancelling I have worn them for hours on end and they are so light and comfy I barely notice them at all.Headphones store in a tiny case, which once quick charged (15-30mins from empty) act as a quick charger on the go just by putting the headphones back in the case. The wireless charging works really well with my existing phone wireless charger.Quality is superb and much to my surprise they are easily as good as my expensive overhead headphones. Having wasted money over the years on other disappointing wireless in-ear headphones, these excel in sound, comfort and features and they are a joy to use. The only downside is I would have preferred push buttons rather than touch sensitive as you can occasionally select the wrong feature ie stop a track instead of skipping to the next one. However I am more than pleased with such a great sounding headphone.

You can tell from the leather charging case with a metal ring around the middle that these are "classy" ear-buds! Pairing is very easy. Simply remove both units from the case and hold the front button on them for about 10 seconds until the BT pairing light flashes on both units. They have a great sound that you can tweak through a phone app. The app has a "surroundings" setting that has 3 levels to enhance background sounds around you. You can also select from 5 preset "listening modes" - Optimal/Commute/Clear/Workout/Podcast or set your own and adjust the sound output ranges. The battery life is fantastic! I haven't used them until the battery died, but I've used them pretty much all day without having to charge them. The stated battery life is 7 hours with an additional 4 charges in the case, and the case can be charged with a wireless pad or USB-C charger. You can use both earbuds together or just the right one and call quality is fantastic. There are 2 microphones per earbud, and I've had no issues at all with being hear whether I'm in an office environment or out walking or riding my bike. The touch controls are simple and responsive and don't register the false commands I've experienced with others. On the right unit, you press once to play/pause and double press to skip forward. 3 presses will activate your default voice assistant. If you press the left earbud once it activates the "transparency" mode so you can hear sounds around you, and if you press twice it goes back to the previous track. Volume is adjusted by pressing and holding the right earbud to increase and left earbud to decrease the sound level. You can also opt to have the earbuds go into "standby mode" after 15 minutes if there's no active audio source. I'd give them 5 stars except they don't have ANC - Active Noise Cancellation and they don't start to connect when the case is open. Sometimes they connect in 15 - 30 seconds once one is removed from the case, and other times I've had to go into BT setting and select them to connect. They come with 4 sets of silicone ear tips ranging from XS to L, , and 1 set of medium "ComplyTM" tips which is basically a memory foam tip.

This is not an "intuitive" device and I had to always carry around the "Call/Music Operations" chart showing the different commands in order to use them. They even warn you - "The Tap Controls Are Responsive. But Take Time To Memorize."Connecting to my iPhone took more time than I expected and was a precursor of things to come. I constantly had to re-pair them using Bluetooth. Bottom line, the connectivity experience is poor for such an expensive product. My music or phone calls kept dropping for either no reason at all or because I inadvertently touch the surface of the earpiece. This leads to my second complaint - the over-sensitivity of the touch surface. The sensitivity is something that is just not my compatible with my way of wearing the headphones. Just in the process of placing them in my ear, I would accidently touch the surface and perform some unknown function. If I were just a to reach up to adjust the position of the earpiece, I would again inadvertently touch the surface which would activate some other function. This became very annoying very quickly. I would reach up to push that headphone further in and music would start or stop, or a call would end. I compare the experience to that of my previous headphones which had a more tactile "click" to activate a function. I much prefer that type of experience. The B&O are just too sensitive for me - they may work well for someone else. The sound is excellent, especially the bass. You can tune these, so if the "out-of-the-box" tuning isn’t to your liking, you can tune the E8s for “Optimal, “ “Commute,” “Clear,” “Workout” and “Podcast” sound using the app (if it can connect to the app - another connectivity problem I encountered even when they were sitting next to each other).Keeping in mind that I did not want or expect an “audiophile-grade” experience, there is no doubt these headphones offer superior sound when compared to my previous headphones. However, the hassles with the connectivity and the sensitivity of the touch surface just are not compatible with the way I use in-ear headphones. These are not my "stereo listening headphones" for which I prefer an over-the-ear set. I do not use in-ear for blocking out ambient sound as I have yet to find a pair of ear buds that really perform well for that purpose. These B&O fall out far too easily for exercise. I wanted a wireless set primarily for phone use and occasionally to listen to music on the go. At this price (4 to 5 times that of comparable headphones), B&O should also be delivering free lunch to my desk every day for a month and they do not, so I would prefer a less expensive, more functional and more comfortable set with the trade-off of slightly lower sound quality.

Quality earbuds
9 May 2020

The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 is a quality set of earbuds. In the box it includes the earbuds, leather wrapped charging case, four sets of ear tips and 1 set of foam tips and the charging cable. Setup was easy I just downloaded the app and paired it to my phone. Initially I had issues with connectivity as it would not connect to my phone each time I took the earbuds out the charging case. I then realized that the earbuds needed an update through the app. After I updated the earbuds they worked perfectly each time. So for all of you having connectivity issues make sure your app is updated. Now for the sound I am loving the E8, highs are clear and bass is punchy without distortion. Another huge plus is the EQ within the app to adjust your sound settings. There are ... MoreThe Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 is a quality set of earbuds. Another huge plus is the EQ within the app to adjust your sound settings. There are some preset ones and you can also manually change settings which I look for in a pair of earbuds. Nothing worse than being stuck with presets that you can’t change. Now for the fit, they hold snug in my ear. I usually push them in each ear then turn them towards the back of my ears and they lock in. I’ve ran a few miles on the treadmill each morning to test them out and did not have any issues with them falling out. The charging case is another feature I love. It’s wrapped in black leather and completes the whole package making them look premium. It does have the ability to do wireless charging but the charging pad is an optional accessory you can purchase. Battery life is rated at 35 hours I believe and it does have quick charge which provides you with 1.5 hours with 20 minutes of charge. Overall I love listening to music and exercising with them.

Refined, high-end earbuds
9 May 2020

B&O is known for their modern, high-end, but quite expensive speakers and headphones. These 3rd generation Beoplay E8 True Wireless earbuds check off most of the boxes when it comes to features and performance. One feature I was hoping for at this price-point was Active Noise Cancelling which would have been a welcome addition over the 2nd generation earbuds, but unfortunately it is not available. Despite that, they are still pretty good at masking plenty of outside noise by providing a tight, yet comfortable fit inside your ear. The sound quality is crystal clear, well defined, though lacking some bass, but you can adjust that through the App to get a bit more kick. The touch commands are very useful, intuitive and similar to other less expensive earbuds. I have been pretty satisfied with my Samsung Galaxy Earbuds that cost a lot less, but they're not high-end like the B&O unit. I especially like the volume-up tap and hold on the right side and volume-down tap and hold on the left earbud, as well as the pause, skip forward and go to previous track feature. I had a bit of a hard time with the triple-tap to activate a voice assistant such as Google, but I generally don't use it much. Phone call sound quality is quite good, thanks to the dual microphone setup in both earbuds. Battery life is supposed to have also gotten better from the previous generation, though I have only used them a few hours per day so they never completely drain. I usually just charge them every few days, since it's so easy to do on the same wireless charger I use for my Samsung Galaxy phones. But even if you forget to charge them frequently, the docking case will offer ~ 4 hours of additional charge. All in all, if you can afford it, and like fancy, high-end, European design electronics, with a wonderfully crafted real leather case, these would fit the bill for you, though I was a bit disappointed they are made in China.

Well-made with reasonable touch controls
8 May 2020

I've had a chance to test the Beoplay E8 in-ear headphones for about a week. The results: solid craftsmanship, decent touch controls, and excellent range.Regarding craftsmanship, the packaging as well as the devices themselves -- and the charging case (which also works with Qi wireless charging) -- are definitely well-made. The ear buds themselves come in about four different sizes to accommodate the size of ear canal that you possess :) On this front, they're definitely made to compete with certain other companies whose name is synonymous with a type of fruit :)In fact, the only challenge I have in dealing with these in-ear devices is that if I start smiling a lot, that moves the muscles around my ears to where it almost feels like the earphones will fall out. ... MoreI've had a chance to test the Beoplay E8 in-ear headphones for about a week. The results: solid craftsmanship, decent touch controls, and excellent range.Regarding craftsmanship, the packaging as well as the devices themselves -- and the charging case (which also works with Qi wireless charging) -- are definitely well-made. After adjusting the rubber ear buds for my ears, either I have to get more used to the earphones, or maybe my ears just aren't ideal for this device. They definitely still work, I simply have to make sure I don't let them fall out!One of the key features of the earphones is their touch controls. This is where I had to drop one star from this review. In order to best describe how well touch works, I'll list accordingly:- Turning the earphones on: very simple and works well. A single tap against each earphone. After previously paired, will almost immediately sync back up without issue.- Adjusting for ambient sound: very simple as well. A single tap against the left earphone brings up or turns down the overall volume for outside sound.- Adjusting the actual volume: tricky. If you want the volume to go down, you're supposed to tap a longer hold with the left earphone. If up, then the right earphone. The challenge here is that you have to really "hold" the tap for a good 2.5 seconds, otherwise if you're tapping on the left, you change ambient sound instead, and if you merely tap the right, you start or stop playing music! Thought: Maybe being able to adjust the "hold" time to closer to 1.5 seconds would be much more intuitive.Listening to music is decent. Bass range is OK, but you'll do better with a headset that's made for music. Handling phone calls is absolutely no issue, though, to be honest, if I'm traveling in my car, I won't have these earphone in, but will instead be using my vehicle's Bluetooth connectivity. The range is incredible. I can walk at least 30 feet away from my macOS when having meetings without any interference coming in. This includes several walls and walking between the first and second floors of my house. Then again, that's a function of the latest in Bluetooth specs, not specifically these earphones per se, but still -- great range. For charging, give the earphones about 2 hours and you'll have the stated day+ ability for playback (I use mine predominantly for computer audio, whether that's YouTube, Zoom or Slack calls). Also, keep in mind that a limitation of Bluetooth is that you can pair these earphones to one device at a time. Therefore, you'll have to explicitly disconnect and connect if you're going from, say, your computer to your iPhone (that's after you've paried to each device). Again, that's a Bluetooth "limitation." What's positive about this is that you don't have to worry about reconnecting to the last-connected device if you've fully discharged the earphone batteries and need to recharge to listen again.Overall, these are great earphones that I intend to continue using. My only drawback is I'd like the touch control sensitivity to be cranked up a notch.

amazing wireless earbuds

TL;DR: style and sound quality you'd expect from B&O, with an equally svelte-looking case that provides 7 extra charges for your ear budsinitial setup: open box, take out the buds, and plug the USB charger into the case. I would have preferred a USB-C connector, given that's what everyone is moving toward, but I guess the extra space required would have sacrificed some mm on the case. Download the B&O app, and it provides a step by step guide to pair your buds to your iPhone or Android. Very easyEar buds: as custom with ear buds these days, multiple sizes provided to match your ear canals. The standard mediums already on the buds worked perfectly for me, but you can easily pull off the tips to swap out sizes. The standard mediums already on the buds worked perfectly for me, but you can easily pull off the tips to swap out sizes. Sound quality was fantastic, and the app provides a few different modes. Sadly, even though there's a "commute" mode, given the current pandemic, working from home, I didn't have the chance to test it out. Within my own home, all the modes sound greatOnly con: given the price the buds, I was frankly a little surprised to see that active noise cancellation wasn't available. Even my trusty plantronics wireless buds have ANC, and it does make a difference on flights and commutes. I'm assuming B&O wanted to preserve weight to improve comfort, but for the price point they're commanding, still seems like a big miss. Again, not having been on a commute yet, I wasn't able to test whether just a physical seal with the ear buds would provide enough shielding during a rideOverall, excellent sound quality in a controlled setting with a nice case that holds several extra charges.
