Behringer CS400 Compressor Sustainer Pedal

First, let's get beyond the "all plastic pedals are cheap" bugaboo: Behringer uses thick, tough, high impact, molded plastic housings for their pedals and I've never been bone-headed enough to horse-stomp so hard on one as to break or even mar it. They're tough. If you somehow manage to break one - guess what? They're inexpensive enough you can just buy another. . With that out of the way, let's talk electronics: I own their 7 band eq, their compressor/sustain, the overdrive/distortion box and their digital delay and all I can say is here's where your money does it's work - the compressor especially is one of the best you can buy and all of their products are full bypass and next to silent under use with the correct amperage 9v power supply. Controls pots and switches are top quality and the jacks snap in with good, solid clicks. . Whether or not you're on a budget, you owe it to yourself to try out some of their awesome pedals. I especially like the OD300. It's a solid performer with sweet tones that suit a thousand performing styles.

Ive owned multiple boss cs3 compressors and this to me sounds exactly the same, it creates the same amount of noise and buzz of a boss model if you put the sustain knob up too high. I use a noise gate so this isnt a problem for me, but something too consider along with the housing being plastic

I had a Boss CS-3 a few years ago on a pedal board but, I sold that whole rig, just too much to navigate and, a pedalboard can be a little hard to adjust and, navigate through.So entered the Boss Katana 100 with floor pedal. Much easier to setup, use, and, navigate through. Large improvement! I was missing the compressor and, what it would do for my sound. I know that a CS-3 could be downloaded into the effects part of this amp but, I was very pleased with setup that the amp came with stock.I play mostly clean with a Strat and, a Tele and, occasionally I wil play a guitar with Humbuckers if the need arises at a gig. I never travel with 1 guitar always 2 maybe 3. Dialed in a Great Country sound on the amp, slap delay, touch of reverb but, the comp was missing. I purchased this Behringer unit to use at an upcoming gig to see how it would compare to the Boss CS-3 and, it performed perfectly. No more Boss CS-3 for the price of this unit and, the performance why would you want the Boss? Exactly the same except the price. The only reason I gave this unit 4 stars was because of the plastic case and, changing the battery which I don't do because I always use a power pack. Plastic will just not hold up like metal will.I left the unit on all night and, the only change I made was to increase the sustain to the point of noise and, backed off a little. I plan on keeping this unit but, I also have an MXR Dyna Comp coming which I've been told and, have seen in some videos will definately go over the top of most of the other comps out there in sound an, use.This Behringer unit is a darned good unit for the money and, I'm giving it good words and, would definately purchase it over the Boss which is just the same except for the case but a lot less dinero.After using the Katana for over a year and, using the FX that are built in it's all I want and, a lot less to haul & setup but a comp is going on the floor next to my Morely volume pedal, Done.
