Made to be a high-performance helmet at a price that’s accessible to every level of rider, Bell’s MX-9 MIPS Helmet is one of the best deals in protective equipment that easily punches above its price range when it comes to features. At a basic level, the MX-9 is built on a polycarb and ABS plastic shell that comes in three different sizes and goes a long way towards keeping the MX-9 both affordable and surprisingly light. Bell’s Velocity Flow Ventilation System is integrated directly into the helmet’s shell and EPS liner, so your head gets the highest amount of airflow possible. And while that’s working, the Flying Bridge Visor leaves you free to adjust exactly how much air comes through the forward intake vents. But if you’re working hard and still getting sweaty, the interior comfort liner is anti-bacterial and completely removable when it’s time for a wash. But, the best feature of the MX-9 is the MIPS system. Using a specially engineered low-friction layer that allows for a controlled amount of slip between your head and the compressible EPS liner, MIPS drastically reduces injury occurrence during impacts that happen at oblique angles. That extra safety makes Bell’s MX-9 one of the best performing helmets available regardless of price. By integrating an engineered low-friction layer into the liner of the helmet, MIPS enables a relative sliding motion between the head and the helmet so angular and rotational impact forces are absorbed and deflected. Since most head impacts occur at oblique and unpredictable angles, helmets with MIPS Technology are able to offer better protection than helmets without.

Bought this because I wanted Bell quality without strangling the bank account. As soon as i pulled it out of the box I fell in love. It's nice and warm on the cooler ride days toward the very beginning and very end of the season (especially up here in New England) and it also stays cool in the summer. Very comfortable and it doesn't feel heavy or huge on your head. Fits very well with just about any type of goggle. The visor system makes for easy cleaning and more flexibility. Finally, IT LOOKS AWESOME!-m-2014 KAWASAKI KX85--

I had to submit a review on this helmet because it is so awesome. I have bought a lot of helmets over the years and I was skeptical of the price but the MIPS feature is what I wanted and so do you! Trust me. To my surprise this is one of the best helmets I have ever bought. No joke! The Bell MX-9 is the equalizer and on par with top shelf helmets at a fraction of the cost. It is light weight, it fits true to size, and its a bargain price. Rocky MTN had on my door in two days. Don't have second thoughts on getting this helmet, it will exceed your expectations and you'll be stoked to have MIPS. Enjoy the ride!

Unfortunately, I tried this helmet on it my local dirt bike shop. The Large felt really tight. I was concerned because I currently own a Large, older model. I figured they might have changed their sizing. It seemed more than just the old padding being packed down. I looked at the Bell website and followed their instructions to measure my head. I did this and I measured an XL. The helmet arrived and I tried it on and it felt great. I wore it the next day on a trail ride and quickly learned the helmet was too big. I had the chin strap tight but it moved around and obstructed my vision. I assume I cant return it at this point so I feel pretty defeated with this experience. True to size. wide enough eye port that even OTG goggles fit no problem. Ventilation is 100% better than similarly priced helmets like evs t5. High quality fit and finish for this price point. Loud as any other mx helmet. Note: your comms unit may have to be mounted by sticker because there’s zero space between eps and shell.
Took a 20 foot freefall of a desert cliff. Was wearing this helmet. I walked away!! Lost a few minutes and took a few days to come fully back. But Im not dead. Bought another one. Like bells motto in the 70s said " If you have a 10 dollar head get a 10 dollar helmet. Best fit and protection for the price. Sweat buckets in the desert in the summer. Water replaces that, nothing replaces your brain!
Really love the Bell MX-9 Moto Presence as a secondary helmet for summer and urban riding, but as many others have indicated, I would not suggest it for prolonged high speed (above 55 mph) riding, with the beak on.I rode with it for over 100 miles since getting it, and prefer it for short rides around town in the New York City heat, and shorter hauls. However, it is tremendously louder than my Shoei GT-Air. I've been riding for over 20-years, and have always been a Shoei rider. So, that's maybe biased, but my Shoei is too hot for the summers. So, this MX-9 is a good option if I wore earplugs. Otherwise, I would be sweating balls.Overall performance, good. Overall sound quality, poor. Overall cooling and lightness, amazing. Comfortable. Rode 4 warm days 5-6 hours day on Hatfield McCoy trails. No complaints easy to take apart and clean. Trails were dusty. I was in SxS behind windshield so cannot comment on airflow accurately. Reasonable price. Will be using it often. Delivered next day. Ordered large. Measurement on edge. Needed XL. New one came quickly. The large fits my wife comfortably, so I kept it for her. Thanks guys
I Changed my mind at least a dozen times. Rocky mountain has the best selection. Finally went with the Bell. They been around a long time and have proven they are a great helmet. I wasn't looking for any thing too flashy so I went with the Presence Black / White plus it had the mips technology and removable liner system without breaking the bank. After ordering I wasn't sure what to expect as far as looks because the pictures on any website I looked at just presented this helmet as just "Meh". When I opened the box and got a real look I was certain I made the right decision, this helmet is a thing of beauty the photos don't do it any justice at all. It fits well.Seems well built after a couple falls and the liner snaps in and out the way it should without falling ... MoreI Changed my mind at least a dozen times. Great helmet, purchased a large judging by the size guidelines.Fits great overall on the chrome dome, but the cheek pads were way too tight.Mind you, I am no lightweight.I made some slight modifications to the cheek pads and am a happy camper. Very much recommended. The ventilation is amazing. So good that it might make winter rides too frigid. But I have yet to find out.
This helmet was my first ever helmet, and it was supposed to be the perfect all rounder to accommodate on road and off-road riding. And it did exactly just that. Perfect with goggles, perfect with a visor, looks amazing with and without the off-road peak on it, availability online for a tinted visor or even a transition visor, low noise, good compatibility with a Cardo system, ECE rating with MIPS, I can easily say this is a gem of a helmet. The only minor problem i would say there is is the weight, which isn't even that bad. I will give a warning to those worried about the sizing. It fits true to size, however the padding is VERY dense and at first will appear like it won't fit you. However, if you wear it around the house for an hour a day for a few days, and take ... However, if you wear it around the house for an hour a day for a few days, and take it on your first few rides and get it sweaty, the padding will eventually ease up. Overall, the best helmet I think I could have gotten, regardless of the price.
