Sorry, not happy with these models. This is the second one of these that we owned - the first one died within 12 months, and the second one lasted less than 6 months. Not like the last Benq that we owned which lasted 20 years. It's a pity because it was a good projector to start with.

Having spent a long time researching which projector to buy and where from, I was quickly able to determine the 'where' question, based on past reviews about Richer Sounds. I was not disappointed. Nor only were the Leeds team incredibly helpful in advising me on the respective merits of different machines, Richer Sounds was also one of the cheapest providers on the market. I can really recommend Richer Sounds from a 'buying experience'.I am highly delighted with the BenQ TK800m. My initial concern was about the noise, when compared to the decibel levels of the Optoma. Bang for buck this is easily the brightest, sharpest and easy to use projector anywhere near this price range. It is especially good at performing in a bright environment but calibrates extremely well in a darkened cinema environment. HDR is surprisingly effective considering the low cost and though missing features such as lens shift and any "smart tv" integration, those savings are spent on the image quality. Sound is weak but functional if used for business purposes. Anyone else would/should attach this to a dedicated AV system and for gaming it's surprisingly responsive with fluid 60fps motion.

To give context to for this review, I upgraded to this 3000 lumen 4K UHD projector from a Panasonic PT-AX200E 2000 lumen 1080P HD projector. (The price point being roughly the same - approx. 15 years between purchase). The reason for upgrading was due to increased ambient lighting conditions and longer throw distance.Pros:1. Easy to use - plug n play, including auto keystone and setup grid.2. 3000 lumens works well in a room with moderate ambient light, but obviously darker scenes will still suffer due to the amount of ambient light present.3. Slow to start up - because of this you wonder whether or not you've actually turned it on, especially when starting it up in very bright ambient light conditions.2. Slow to find source input - combined with slow start up, you do wonder if you've actually turned it on.3. Noisy fan compared to the projector that I replaced - at least you know the unit is on I suppose.4. No sleep function - it has an auto shut off when it detects no source input, but no dedicated sleep function. Not so good for those of you who might fall asleep while watching a Netflix series or anything that autoplays. A loss of functionality compared to previous.5. No zoom function - compared to my previous projector, this loss of functionality was noticeable, meaning I need to physically move the projector should I wish to change the projected image size.6. No vertical/horizontal lens shift - this was a deal breaker for me as my previous projector had this as standard. The default image is set to project horizontally and upward. So when I had the unit sitting horizontally on a shelf, to avoid people from walking in front of the projector, half the projected image appeared on my ceiling. In the end, I Macgyvered a securely fastened work-around, but it does mean that my projector sits tilted forward. If I hadn't been able to find a workaround, then I would have returned the projector and replaced it with one that had this feature.Overall, my reasons for upgrading were specific whereas for most people placing the projector on a coffee table or similar, in front of a screen, will likely suffice. However note that the inability to zoom in or out means that you will have to physically move the position of the projector forward/backward in order to fit the image to a particular screen size.Nevertheless, despite the lack of some useful features, I would recommend this product to others at this price point.
Really happy with BenQ yet again, I had one previous to this for 15 years before the fan finally gave up the ghost. Sharp image and good resolution when projecting darker tones, which other projectors I have used have struggled with. If you have more cash def worth looking at the higher models but for sub £1000, love it.
I Purchased this projector just after a recent price drop and very glad I did. My old Epson projector was fine but the only remaining 1080p display in my otherwise 4k household.For the money, the pictures are, bright, sharp colourful and excellent motion handling. Playing some 4k videos from youtube you sometimes think how much better can this get?I showed my parents some of the above mentioned youtube videos and they also were very impressed, I asked my dad how much he thought I paid and he said over £3000, he isn't a technophobe either being a regular subscriber to What Hifi and Home Cinema Choice magazines so it was an informed guess.Only small downsides are the zoom is not as good as my Epson as I had to position the new projector approx 1 metre away from ... MoreI Purchased this projector just after a recent price drop and very glad I did. I was nervous about buying a projector and screen for the first time, however we had great advise from the Hanley branch manager and took the plunge. I connected it to an existing surround sound system and wow, it amazing! Set up in a spare room and it's a great treat on Winter nights. Really immersive experience. Thank you.
The BenQ TK800M is something to be hold. Was so blown away by its picture quality and features that i'm can't stop smiling. After months of research and price comparing this always stood out as a strong contender and i am not disappointed! So happy with all aspects so far. highly recommed to anyone. Picture brilliant! sound of fan very low! and all for decent price....happy happy happy!
Just vertical lens shift, not horizontal which make it diffitult to project from either sides. Picture quality is good. If you can project just from the middle of the screen, it's a good one.
Great service from Richer Sounds as usual. Fast delivery with an hour time slot from the courier. I almost bought this projector before Christmas and had no time to set it up so decided to hold off. 4 days later it had £200 off in the sale. Absolutely delighted. First impressions are great, very impressive picture with 4k content and was pleasantly surprised that it’s more than watchable in a fairly light room. Too early to give a full verdict but it’s a big step up from our previous projector. Used BenQ before and it’s easy to set up and use the menus. We have a Dolby atmos system but did notice on first set up that the built in speaker were pretty good.
