BenQ W2700 4K Home Theatre Projector
With the BenQ W2700, you can create an impressive movie theater experience in your living room. This projector effortlessly projects 4K UHD images. This resolution sharply focuses on the smallest details of a movie or series, from a blade of grass to an actress' hair. When you watch HDR images, you can get the most out of the color gamut of this projector. This way, you can enjoy the most subtle nuances, while bright hues are lit up clearly. The vertical lens shift function and zoom function ensure a subtle placement. So you can easily aim the projection upwards or downwards, or adjust the image size without having to move the projector. The BenQ W2700 has a throw ratio of 1.13 - 1.47:1, which means that you can put the projector between 1.13 and 1.47m from the screen for a 1m wide projection. For a 2m wide projection, you can double that distance to 2.26 and 2.94cm. Be sure to check where you want to put the projector and if there's space.

Although I was sceptical of the upgrade, I decided to go for this as my valiant W1070's bulb went off.The projector is quite a beast compared to the W1070 but not crazy big neither (especially compared to one of these Sony projectors). Set up is easy and clean, menus are a nice upgrade from the 1070 too while remaining easy to navigate. In terms of noise, I was hoping for something quieter, but the mirror shifting mechanism emits quite a distinctive noise. It is however not unbearable and a change from the W1070 noisy ventilators. If you use 1080p sources, don't hesitate to use the silent mode. The image itself is brilliant. I have, from a close pov, a lot of CA as noted by a few reviewers, but no one is realistically putting their nose to the screen. Upgraded from a Benq W1070 that I had for 5 years. The W1070 was still going strong with daily use but wanted to upgrade to 4k mainly for the upcoming PS5.Tried a few different projectors out in the shop and settled on the W2700 and wow 4k HDR where have you been all my life.Gaming on my PS4 Pro has so much more detail that I never realised before prior to upgrading, the HDR really picks out loads of detail in dark scenes where before with my W1070 I would have to turn the brightness up to see what I was doing. I was worried about the extra input lag the W2700 has over the W1070 but happy to report I’m still as rubbish on COD as I was prior to getting it so no change there. In all honesty I can’t really notice the extra input lag, maybe if you are used to ... MoreUpgraded from a Benq W1070 that I had for 5 years. Have mine plugged into a 7.2 Atmos setup and when watching films on 4K on my 120” screen it’s like having my own personal IMAX in the house. As for placement it was a straight swap out for my W1070, same ceiling mount and positioning and it lined up perfectly so if you are upgrading from one like me you will have no issues at all.

This projector replaced a failed Veiwsonic 4k DLP and I have no regrets choosing this Benq . Fan noise can be slightly nosier but at least the pixel shifting mechanism is subdued which can be more distracting with earlier projectors.Picture wise it’s bright enough for a darkened room and the 4k image is stunning with some decent contrast and colour quality. My only gripe would be the slightly raised black levels but I’m nit picking here. One would have to spend four times the price to achieve inkier blacks.Overall this Benq is a step above the entry level cheaper lamp based 4k DLP projectors and definitely worth the extra money.

Had a benq w1070 after about four years broke down, unfixable, richer sounds replaced it for a w2700 no quibbles from Glasgow branch. Another 2 years and the w2700 has stopped working, but when it did work I cannot say the picture was great and it was really noisy. Richer sounds Glasgow again absolutely perfect took it back and am just waiting on an optoma uhz50 arriving hopefully in the next few days. We will see how this one goes. Moral of the entire review buy from richer sounds Glasgow at least of the equipment fails you know you are covered by the great guarantee.
After a lot of research I settled on the BenQ W2700. After many years of projecting 16mm Cine film, I wasn't certain if a digital projector would suit my needs. I need not have worried, the W 2700 is superb. In a fully darkened room it gives an immersive Cinema experience with corner to corner sharpness and stunning colour. The three media ports allow me swap between my portable hard-drive, DVD player and Fire-Stick. Sound from the inbuilt speakers depends a lot on the media source. It's o.k but running an optical audio cable to external speakers ( a Sound Bar in my case ) makes a dramatic improvement.
Having owned a BenQ W1070+ for 5 years, also purchased from RS, I decided to revamp my cinema room and upgrade everything. Having been pleased with the W1070+ and reading the many reviews I decided on the W2700. I have now run it for 18 months before writing this review.A positive for this projector is the picture quality. Content running in 4K HDR is excellent. Keeping on PQ, the downsides are grey blacks, and I occasionally notice the DLP rainbow effect which I never experienced on my W1070+.The cooling fans are loud and there is a buzz/hum coming from what I believe is the 4K upscaling component. In the summer months, when the weather has been hot the cooling fans really ramp up. It is certainly a louder projector than the W1070+.The dynamic iris feature ... MoreHaving owned a BenQ W1070+ for 5 years, also purchased from RS, I decided to revamp my cinema room and upgrade everything. In the summer months, when the weather has been hot the cooling fans really ramp up. It is certainly a louder projector than the W1070+.The dynamic iris feature sounded great until you actually use it. I've tried it numerous times and when it is enabled and the picture content changes brightness between scenes then you notice the iris changing and the brightness of the picture then increases or reduces - all within the space of half a second - noticeable enough to be annoying. I have it turned off all the time now.My projector also appears to have a rather annoying intermittent fault. A Google search shows a couple of other W2700 owners with the same issue. At random times, mostly within 10 minutes of starting the projector the image will suddenly appear to be split down the middle of the screen and the right hand side of the image will have a noticeably different contrast to the left hand side. I have included two photos as an example. Sometimes it will right itself within a few minutes, other times I have found that cycling through the dynamic iris options will clear it. On occasions it will occur in the middle of watching a film and is a rather annoying interruption that requires intervention.I also find that the lens shift adjustment drifts over time. Every few months I have to adjust the thumb wheel to realign the image as it slowly creeps down the screen. To sum up, it's not an awful projector but the niggles and downsides are enough to make me feel disappointed in my choice.
The W 2700 4 k projector from BenQ is a great buy at the price range. It produces a stunning picture with true to life colours, good brightness and excellent HDR and HLG support. Professionals at Richard Sound put my mind at ease with this, my first time purchase of a projector. They were clear that these devices can be complicated to install and they would be there to accompany me. They answered my questions in a reassuring manner. I liked their return policy in case I wasn't satisfied. I was worried how this would work out of the box, so my biggest need was to have someone on the other end who I could get some general insights as well, so if I ever encountered any issues with such an expensive product, I wouldn't be stuck on my own. After hours of researching projectors I concluded that for my needs - cinema, documentaries, classics, the BenQ W2700 was the best in its class. The results meet my expectations, even exceed them. The sound on this device is better than on any laptop. The home cinema experience is definitely worth it.I've only been using it for a few weeks, and I hope the device will continue to perform well. I'm expecting the projector to perform for at least three years at the current level of moderate viewing.
After much excitement to get this projector, I must admit I am a little disappointed. The picture quality is good, I do see the occasional rainbow effect but it's not unwatchable (I'm very sensitive to the rbe). Although I won't be using it, the internal speakers are actually pretty impressive. The issues I have with this projector is that it's very noisy, I think definitely more noisy than they say in the specs! The brightness is not brilliant, going from 1800lm to 2000lm I was expecting this projector to be a little too bright fort my environment, but it's actually a little dim. Also the bulb seems to flicker, which is something I've noticed in cheaper replacement bulbs. However this might get better with time when the bulb has settled down. This was to replace a previously owned benq w1070 which I was pleased with but wanted that extra 4k resolution. And so this review compares the differences between the 2.Size wise the 2700 is slightly larger but not alarmingly so.The throw distance is slightly longer too and so you’ll need at least 3.5 m to get a 100 inch image. The picture is noticeably sharper compared to the 1070 although I haven’t fully tuned the projector yet to it’s surroundings so I’m noticing a bit of grain on large swatches of colour in the background. The inbuilt speaker is ok but assuming the projector is behind you, you’ll quickly turn that down and adopt a surround system. The only negative I have at the moment is the fan noise, on normal this is very loud, above the w1070 but I ... MoreThis was to replace a previously owned benq w1070 which I was pleased with but wanted that extra 4k resolution. The only negative I have at the moment is the fan noise, on normal this is very loud, above the w1070 but I will caveat that with 2 aspects, firstly due to weather conditions it’s very hot and so the fans are working overtime. Secondly, there is an eco settings which reduces fan noise at a slight brightness expense. If it continues to be noisy I’d adopt a hush box as I find it intrusive compared to the w1070.It’s one of the cheapest options at 4k and has one of the shortest throws, unless you’re thinking of an ultra short throw but then they have their own issues with centre speakers placement.
