Amazing, but takes setup

I recently got this monitor and absolutely adore it. There is a lot of flexibility in what you can do in terms of image. The out-of-the-box setup looks horrible, but that's because you will have to install a different colour configuration that comes with the CD that contains the drivers (or you can download your own .icc file).I will say that if you're only playing 2D games such as Terraria (which caps at 60fps) it's probably not the greatest path to take, although I've set up my own preset for those kinds of games. As for playing FPS that's 144Hz capable, it's absolutely amazing.A few setup options range from using 120Hz with a few tweaks that the firmware will allow third party utilities to change your crosstalk levels and your persistence, to simply using ... MoreI recently got this monitor and absolutely adore it. I genuinely notice a difference between 120Hz and 144Hz, but I've been told that's not super common. Even running 120Hz, there's a massive difference compared to 60Hz. Furthermore, I've genuinely enjoyed the BlurReduction that's built into the monitor as an option..For those that have recently bought the monitor, my setup would be:Brightness 80Contrast 50LBL 0Black EQ 0Blur Reduction ONColour Temp 98R 92G 100BHue 50Colour Vib 13AMA HighInstant Mode ONSharpness 5Gamma 5Although I did swap to a separate .icc file, the one provided with the CD felt great to me. Like audio where everyone's ears will be different, everyone's eyes are different too. If you're someone who wants something that can be tailored to you with a bit of effort, the BenQ ZOWIE XL2411P is a great fit.If you're someone that's not comfortable with tweaking and just want something out of the box to work well for you though, I would suggest getting something different, as this monitor does require a fair bit of setup and tweaking to personalize it.

I expected to get a "normal monitor" experience and pay a slightly higher price for quality build. I was very wrong, the difference between gaming on this monitor and a regular one is night and day. Games feel entirely more "tactile" and real time. I am better able to place shots, see what's going on, and I feel like I have better control over my character. It is bright and crisp, colours are vivid, and the action is unlike anything I've played on before.I don't know enough about monitor stats to tell you what specifically about it is better, but I can tell you I noticed an *immediate* improvement in my in-game ... MoreI picked this monitor out because I'd heard of the brand through watching eSports and I wanted to support a company that supported one of my interests. Great monitor

Tops refresh rate. This is why you buy this thing. It's not the colors but those are good too. It's not the viewing angles because you have this thing in your face directly. You know why you want this thing and it's one thing only the refresh rate and that's why you get this thing. Not the viewing angles not the colors. You mount this thing up and put it in your face and you play your games. That's it.Look, the marketing is gonna advertise the colors but if you're in it for the colors you're in it for the wrong reason. C'mon man. You are gaming. You need the refresh rates. You aren't using Photoshop. Unless you are then get something else. The only bad con about it is the bezels are a little on the big side and it's kinda heavier than other panels.

Probably the WORST 144Hz screen.
2 April 2019

i'm extremely sensitive to input lag and this monitor doesn't feel like a true 144hz monitor at all, the input lag is worse than my old 75hz monitor. the fps 1 is the only preset that feels somewhat responsive but it's completely unusable because of its extremely bad colors and contrast ratio. this monitor was made for csgo only cause other games like battlefield don't look good at all. the image quality is so bad and washed out and it lacks depth. it's extremely hard to see enemies because of the low contrast ratio. i've used TN panels all my life and this is the worst panel i ever seen. People who don't game seriously might not notice such things but i don't think i can live with this monitor. Avoid the Benq XL2411p at all cost.

Quality Control Is Bad
23 November 2020

This monitor was alright for the couple of days that I owned it.However, I ended up exchanging it because it arrived with multiple dead pixels out of the box. This was pretty unacceptable, and BenQ said it was "alright for their monitors to ship with dead pixels"Colours on the BenQ monitor were pretty bad as well, needing a lot of calibration to look good.JB exchanged it for another monitor, the HP 25x 144hz (Which I am still using without issue after 9330 hours of power on time, or since August 2018).I'm not saying BenQ don't make good monitors, I just don't think their Quality Control is as good for their "cheaper" monitors.

Solid build quality, using as monitor for MacBook
28 March 2020

I bought this a week ago. Currently being used as a desktop monitor for my macbook rather than for gaming. It’s really solidly built, very sturdy stand. The colours are really vibrant, almost a bit too much for a desktop monitor, I just couldn’t get hold of anything else at the time. The monitor is defaulted for use with a dvi cable, so if using HDMI you need to change the monitor settings before you see a picture. I like that you can turn the monitor 90 degrees, great for reading long documents. Not quite ideal for my purposes as the colour is a bit to bright, but I’m sure it makes for a great gaming monitor.

Fast forward a few weeks and I found the Alienware model I wanted and bought it. I offered the Zowie to my son for his second monitor. He already had an MSi 144hz VA panel that is pretty good and knew how much trouble I had encountered with the Zowie. He almost said no to a free monitor LOL, but in the end he uses it for PC shooters only.I would not buy this monitor again, especially after comparing it the superior color and refresh rate of the Alienware for only $145 more. However, if you want a 144hz monitor with very fast pixels and you ONLY want to play face paced games on it and only have $200, then this could be your new monitor.

24 February 2020

The monitor was working fine. But then, out of nowhere, everything became hideous and pixlated. The colours were either too bright or too dark, and there isn't a single solution in the world, apparently. Do NOT buy this monitor unless you want to waste a ton of money on a thing that you'll need to spend hours setting up, only for it to completely crash and burn months later and be literally unfixable. DO NOT buy this monitor. I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT EVER BUY THIS MONITOR IF IT IS THE LAST THING YOU DO. EVER. NEVER.

This monitor is amazing for someone upgrading from 60hz
28 August 2018

To all of those that are a little skeptical about buying this product, here's a run down by myself. So I just bought this around 3 weeks ago, it was a little difficult to get setup and figure everything out, I was having issues with sound for awhile and then actually getting it to connect to my PC, but after a half an hour or so of trying everything out, I finally got it all good to go, and began playing Counterstrike:Global-Offensive (CSGO) This monitor is EXTREMELY good for someone who is looking to upgrade from 60hz to 144hz you will notice a difference right away. If you don't like bright colors or anything like that I wouldn't recommend it, because this monitor is EXTREMELY bright. I'm assuming you can turn it down someway, I did a little bit in the settings. ... MoreTo all of those that are a little skeptical about buying this product, here's a run down by myself.
