My review, I am a Professional music producer of 9 years under sony. Quality:Beyerdynamics always bring in some quality headphones, the feel is very premium and the fit is very comfortable and it doesnt strain as much over prolonged periods. Functionality:Very nice sound stage as with usual open back. Very sparkly highs and a very nice controlled and defined bass and mid range. Vocals are very nice but some hihats will tend to hurt on higher volumes. Excellent for listening to live music and gaming.Seeing the package arrive will never not be exciting, opening it feels like Christmas.

I actually bought these, out of interest, for music listening. Well built, and very comfortable with easily replaced parts. Very revealing for the price, with good instrument separation and space. It is brightly lit in the upper treble, but also has a good detailed bass. The midrange is good too, and it doesn't sound sucked out on a good headphone amp. The frequency elements don't blur or muddy into each other noticeably. It's an exciting sound, and I think the phones scale well with good source material and equipment. One star off for the bright upper treble, which isn't ideal for bright or poor recordings in the sibilance region.

The headphones sound great but the high impedence means they cannot be driven with ordinary hardware correctly. A headphone amp would make a giant difference. However, the Senheisser HD650s have a similar issue. I was pleasantly surprised at how transparent these headphones are to outside sounds. There is hardly any attenuation so you stay in great situational awareness!

Great headphones for mix and masteringFirst i tried just the ”Sound Id” app/plugin free trial With my own DT-770 PRO ( i allways mix in those because my room isnt treated) and i was bit skeptical. But my mixes actually translated better on differend speakers (tv, Car, presonus monitor) after using the sound id, thats why i decided to go 1 step further and bought the individually calibrated headphones (DT-990 pro) which came with 12db calibration and thats actually crazy how inaccurate headphones can be. Im rly happy i went 1 step further for the individual calibration and think Sonarwork is great solution for people like me who cant or afford acustic treatment in their home studios. I got my headphones within 3 days and it was really easy to set upp 🙏

I have listened to the audio technica and senheiser at $100 plus more, truthfully, my ears are not trained enough to notice huge differences in them. The Beyerdynamic have been a staple for a long time in studios, so they are good enough for me.Will they last, I don't know. But, I can say I am satisfied with my purchase. Down the road, yeh, maybe I will spend $500 on a different pair, but for now, these are fine

Great sound, oddly comfy and a wide gamut

I'm a communication designer and needed budget studio headphones to explore and experiment with sound, I seriously didn't expect such a great sound experience from these at this price! A job well done.Don't use them without a sound interface, high impedance headphones need amplification to reach true potential (it is really worth it) otherwise it's just like a hamster (your phone) trying to power the grid...You'll get a very wide range of sound, these give out a flat and true sound but because they can reach high frequencies might be bright for some people, for me though brilliant. If you like heavy thumpy bass and probably have a glittery phone cover, don't buy them. If you like heavy thumpy bass and probably have a glittery phone cover, don't buy them. But if you are looking for an honest sound and are open to discovery in the music and films that you already love, these are for you.Music listening - Very layered sound experience, high resolution wide sound stage, simultaneously you can interpret the deep balanced bass/warm notes and the detailed brighter instruments, all of this at any single point in time. You can almost summon any artist you feel like at your home (emphasis on almost, like 98% there). Used them with guitar amp, couldn't hear the sound crack even at high volumes.Films- The voice of the actors has an emphasis on the emotion of the dialogue (only with good actors though), the ambient and foley sounds are very well conveyed and apart from being detailed, they give a good sense of space and distance because of an open-back design. It adds a layer of meaning to the film. Same with music too. They are very well built, are sturdy, I think they are very aesthetically designed (subjective matter), use of material gives a premium tactile sense when held, the velour pads are very soft and skin-friendly, the ear kind of nests into them as they cover your ears completely (If you have oddly wide ears, can't promise anything ) bhaut jada comfort can wear for hours, the metal band might be slightly tight for some people in which case put some books between both earpads to expand them a bit. The cable is coiled, reasonably good quality which isn't an excuse to use them rough, pls don't. Wouldn't travel with them.I hope I didn't do a shabby job with the artwork

The best headphones for advanced mixing!

I am a pro music producer and own a range of headphones alreadyI had been using the Audio Tehnica ATH-m50x for a long time but I really hate the comfort of those, they are hard as rocks and very tight too, not good for long mixing sessions, and the sound stage is also very colored and even after 3 years of learning the frequency curve of those, you just cant make good mixing decisions, but they are OK for tracking and recording. My fav headphones so far are the ATH-M35 even tho they are way cheaper, a bit softer on the ears, they have such good frequency response and such a forward but clear midrange, totally opposite to most studio headphones out there...Enough about those guys, I got the Beyerdynamic DT990 PROs for mainly long extended mixing sessions and these ... MoreI am a pro music producer and own a range of headphones alreadyI had been using the Audio Tehnica ATH-m50x for a long time but I really hate the comfort of those, they are hard as rocks and very tight too, not good for long mixing sessions, and the sound stage is also very colored and even after 3 years of learning the frequency curve of those, you just cant make good mixing decisions, but they are OK for tracking and recording. My fav headphones so far are the ATH-M35 even tho they are way cheaper, a bit softer on the ears, they have such good frequency response and such a forward but clear midrange, totally opposite to most studio headphones out there...Enough about those guys, I got the Beyerdynamic DT990 PROs for mainly long extended mixing sessions and these are actually my favorite now for everything! The comfort is like having two pillows on your head, and I've read that some find the clamping force too much? Not at all guys! Its so soft that you wont even notice you're wearing headphones! The soundstage is a bit opposite to the ATH-M35s, but I prefer that and I use a mix of both during mixing and mastering. The M35s can show me the overall balance of a song, I make tonal mixing decisions with those. But the Beyerdynamics have a bit of a harsh high-end which is totally perfect for identifying problems in a mix and due to the awesome stereo imaging (cause it's open-back) I can place instruments very easily in the stereo space. Its hands-down wayyy better than the M50x for anything besides recording, which is the only use for those rn.If you're mixing mainly on headphones then I'd say(1) use any good closed-back for recording, something with a lot of color and hype so that u enjoy the music and get a good take.(2) Then use the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro for production, making synths, recording MIDI drums or even electric guitars and stuff, basically the bulk of messing around with sounds, doing sound design and stuff.(3) Check the mix every once in a while with a flat response headphone, something that's not from Beyerdynamic and which doesn't have the awesome highs like the DT990 pro (for example, ATH-M35)(4) Basically continue your whole mix in these (DT 990 Pro)(5) Check on consumer devices like very cheap bluetooth speakers and Samsung earplugsand you will get a very good production which translates well everywhere!Really loving these headphones, do listen to movie soundtracks from Netflix (Squid Game sounds really awesome!) and also Anime soundtracks like Kimi No Nawa and stuff on theseThere's a link somewhere of the music I mixed with these, do check that out! Thanks a ton!Stay safe and keep makin music!: )

The king of clarity and sound stage at this budget
24 May 2023

The sound quality is top notch. I am a user of Jabra, Harman kardon, shure, audio technica, final, senheisser and bose. I love audio like anything so when I say 990 pro is a God level headphone, trust me. A few people claim it has no bass but trust me it has v deep and extended bass. To me more bass than this will substantially reduce other frequencies and hence affect clarity. The bass is sufficient. Further enhancement can be done using equilizer. One very very imp aspect: this is a 250 ohm impedance headphone. Very hard to drive. The volume would be too low. Literally it's 100% is equal to 40 % of my shure Aonic 250 IEM. So, an amp is a must to pair with 990 pro. It's the only drawback. Otherwise the sound is damn too gorgeous and grand to be available at such a ... MoreThe sound quality is top notch. I combined it with BTR7 (a 15k dac and amp) and after that also 100% vol is loud enough for a silent room but in noisy places vol might still seem low. Hence, a powerful dac and amp is a must with this. If u r a audio lover and u can spend extra bucks for dac and amp, u will dead shot love this German made master peace. A lovely headphone for audiophiles. Also please give a few hours of time to open up and sound freely with maximum driver output.

Web design is rubbish for stock checking AGAIN!
9 August 2024

Thick as f--- web design needs a postcode. I do not KNOW the postcode of the area of the nearest STORE, idiot, I want to TRAVEL TO IT. That is why I am checking stock THERE, rather than f---ing ordering it in to MY postcode. Get it? Why are systems designed to BULLY people or ignorantly FORCE them to conform to the WRONG way of doing business by what the CUSTOMER needs (by accident is almost worse than Dark Patterns, go figure)?I see this everywhere. Because morons keep bending over for it. Can you say: 'Conditioned to accept poor standards of customer service'? Since these smartphone apps and personalised login-based services can target you as an individual and manipulate you. Privacy is a must to resist being told what to do. Since these smartphone apps and personalised login-based services can target you as an individual and manipulate you. Privacy is a must to resist being told what to do. Funny how all of this is set-up backwards versus what are OBJECTIVE HUMAN NEEDS (with a few exceptions, until the constant, pressure of gouging people via ensh1tiffication gets them, too). Wake up people - even the mods reading this should be on my side since this is about systems serving humans, not humans serving systems. Real simple logic and just because the majority (appear to) are bending over for it, does not make it right. Did we not learn about conformity's limits of toxicity from 1930s onwards? Apparently not! If you think this is crazy, good luck. You'll need it.Also this is for 20% more than these were priced last year, whilst inflation has stopped increasing (apparently, probably not for long). Also, they cannot even get any stock in, so why am I bothering to shop here? Instead of shopping at Amazon (who I am trying to avoid due to the above lack of humanity, of course).
