This tent is the lightest tent that still uses a frame. Weights like this usually require a trekking pole set up but not with this tent. I was very excited when I set it up for the first time to realize that it goes together in about 5 minutes and can be pitched easily. I have a couple of hundred miles on this tent and so far no signs of wear, tears or punctures. I have not been using a footprint either and no issues with punctures or wearing on the floor. The zippers slide easily and the storage pockets and well thought out. About the only annoying thing is that when dew settles in the morning the fly material is so thin that sometimes the zipper rain guarded will get caught in the zipper but it is easy to get released when it does that. The weight and ease of set up for this tent was amazing. Felt like nothing when I picked it up. Was really excited about it. Took for a backpacking trip on the superior hiking trail for it first run and somehow in the night the side wall got a hole punched in from my sleeping pad. Woke up with before the sun with a lot of mosquitoes in the tent and had to return it. I love Big Agnes so returned it for the heavier more durable version of it. If you care about ounces and are super light weight it might be a good tent for you. But the lack of durability and how much it costs wasn’t for me.

I've held it to gauge weight to compare to my other lightweight shelters, but I've never actually so much as opened the stuff sack still because I'm too scared. Please let me explain... This tent contains every spec that I believe I need in a tent... the size of it... the weight of it... the ability to manage condensation as a double-wall tent... the fact that I can stargaze in it... being freestanding... you get the idea. The problem is that it's VERY expensive and is made with an incredibly light denier. Anyhow, I can't say whether or not my concerns are justified, nor can I say if this thing will last me one outing or one hundred. All I can say at this point is that I'm too scared to find out and that alone has me giving this tent 5 stars because I've never been scared or intimidated by a tent, or any piece of gear for that matter, until this point so I'm rating totally based on the respect level at this point.
Works in light rain, but during heavy rain events every rain drop a certain percentage goes through the membrane. After a 10 minute down pour my sleeping bag was wet. I have lost confidence in the product for heavy rain events, this is when the tent should be a tent. Overall-nice design. I like the light weight. You have to be extra careful with the zippers. The bug netting works well.

I got a chance to test out this tent last weekend in the Olympic National Forest, 3 days 2 nights. I was able to set up the tent quickly in the rain, it’s really easy to figure out, especially if you grab the UL2 footprint. With the guy lines tied out, I stayed really dry through a full night of rain. Having the extra vestibule for my pack was really nice.Even though this is a 2 person tent, I don’t know if I’ll use it like that. It’s really a better fit for one person and a dog. :) At less than 2 lbs trail weight, it’s pretty perfect for backpacking. I was also nervous about dog nails, rocks, sharp things on the tent since the bathtub feels thin - no incidents to report here. I recommend still being mindful of it, but it’s proved to be durable. The tent color is great-calming to wake up in vs some tents that are a bit too close to that bright yellow you see in the bathroom after taking too many vitamins. The corners at the foot do need to be staked, or something heavy on the inside corners to spread it out properly. I’d prefer it to be fully freestanding but it’s likely a weight saver design and really doesn’t require much extra setup effort. Zipper pulls are comfortable big loops. Easy to find. This tent uses an incredibly light fabric-that makes it extra thin, like a silk handkerchief that your grandpa may have used. Take care when zipping, as the light flowy fabric can be prone to zipper catch if you move too fast. No groundsheet is included, which seems to be a bit of a lame trend now. Realistically, you’ll need a groundsheet to better protect the tent floor unless you plan on always camping on perfectly soft dirt. The platinum Tiger wall model apparently does use a stronger fabric than others but still I think a groundsheet will be a must for certain terrain.

listed dimensions are for a floor of 86".I'm 77" tall so I wasn't expecting to do jumping jacks.if i held my ankles at a 90 degree angle and lay diagonally, both my head and feet bulged the tent to the point that the seams stressed.I'm use to tentmakers flat-out lying about the number of people that will fit within.Not used to fabricated dimensions.
