Bioderma Sebium Mat Control 30 ml

I have combo oily skin and an hour after applying my makeup (with primer, mind you), I have to blot away the oils from my t-zone but not with this Mat Control moisturiser. I've tried oil control moisturisers before but it usually doesn't work or if it does work, it dries out my skin, making it flake. So I was a little skeptical before trialing this product but I'm so glad I did because this product is amazing. \n\nThe moisturisers consistency is on the thicker side but it spreads easily and absorbs into the skin quickly. Foundation goes on easily, and I set it with loose powder as usual. \n\nAn hour after makeup application, my skin still has the velvet matte finish like when I initially set my makeup. I love it because this rarely happens. I can go a good 3-4 hours without any blotting or touch ups. Even then, when my face oils surface, it is significantly less than when I don't use this mat control moisturiser. And the best part is that my skin feels hydrated, never dry, tight or taut. \n\nMy only gripe is the moisturiser doesn't have any sunscreen in it but the hot Aussie weather means I can't skip spf which I layer over the moisturser. Otherwise, this is my favourite new product for 2019, hands down!\n\n \n

I decided to just apply it to my tzone area of forehead, nose and chin, and then add a more moisturising and rich moisturiser to my cheeks, neck and décolletage, the best of both worlds. This moisturiser is in a handy and cute looking tube, making it very convenient and mess free. You really don’t need a lot of product at a time, and it applied quickly, easily and felt very moisturising for a matte moisturiser, a nice surprise. It can be used during the day if going makeup free, or under makeup, on the tzone area, it leaves you oil and shine free yet still with a nice, natural looking glow to skin that lasts all day long.\n\nI’ve used a few matte products over time and found them all too powdery, drying and flat looking on me, but this product is a real game changer for me. Matte, natural, oil free yet still radiant looking skin? Yes, yes and yes please. Bioderma is my all time favourite French, affordable and sensitive skin friendly, brand out there. After receiving the BIODERMA Sébium Mat Control to trial, and then reading about the product, I wasn’t sure how this shine-control moisturiser would work on my normal to dry skin because the moisturiser is really designed for combination/oily sensitive skin. \n \nHowever, I have a few tubes of Bioderma Photoderm BB Cream and, although I love the product, it makes my skin look a bit too shiny so I thought the Sébium Mat Control, used as a primer, would be ideal for eliminating the shine. The tube, which has a twist-top lid, holds 30ml of product. \n \nThe creamy, lightweight moisturiser has a delightful fragrance, perhaps citrus but I’m not sure. It applies so smoothly and evenly over my skin, giving a bit of a blurred look which evens out my skintone and provides the perfect canvas for my BB cream or foundation. I end up with a radiant look rather than having too much shine. \n \nI was a little concerned that the Sébium Mat Control might dry out my skin, bearing in mind that I already have normal to dry skin, but not at all. In fact, I love this product, not only for how it keeps my makeup looking shine-free and perfect all day, but also because I am now able to use the foundations that I previously wasn’t comfortable wearing. \n\n

My oily combination skin which is pimple-prone benefits from using this oil-controlling moisturiser by keeping my face looking much more matte-looking right throughout each day that I wear it and I find that it helps to regulate my oil production too. My oiliness is naturally usually pretty bad on my T- Zone (forehead, nose and chin areas) but when I use this I find that my oiliness is not a problem at all and I don't find myself reaching for a oil-blotting paper at mid afternoon like I normally do. I'm not sure what's in this but it works really well to keep the oil under control. It's something a oil-control foundation could not do on it's own but when coupled with this moisturiser the oil hasn't got a chance. \n\nI love the texture of this as it's easy to spread and also it seems to have an affinity for sitting well on the skin. It creates an excellent moisture protection barrier. It has a gel-cream texture and it's white in colour. There is a scent to it as well which I would describe as lemon-like. It's quite pleasant but also something I was surprised about when I put this on my face for the first time because from what I've known about Bioderma products before that I've used, there hasn't usually been a scent but this product definitely has. I personally probably wouldn't have minded if this didn't have a scent as I find it isn't really necessary in a moisturiser unless it was a natural scent given off by the ingredients but in this case it isn't. There is a fragrance as added to the formula as it's listed as the last ingredient. So there isn't much of it in there but it is definitely there and possibly would make this less suitable for those who are sensitive to fragrances. I'm not sensitive to fragrance but some people might be. This is made for combination/oily and sensitive skin so I'm just a bit surprised there is a fragrance added to it to be honest, especially when Bioderma, from my experience has not been big in adding fragrance to their formulas. For me, I would prefer that the fragrance wasn't added. That's the only reason I took off a star from the rating though and this is one excellent oil-controlling, shine-controlling moisturiser that can be used both as a day moisturiser and a night moisturiser. \n\nIt's brilliant if you have oily skin like me because it's results really are long-lasting and it's beautiful to use as a base moisturiser under a foundation as it smooths the skin surface texture too. I love that it tones down any blemishes or spots that I might have that day because it seems to calm them and control their growth, limiting the way they look and appear overall. I have pores that are quite large around my nose and chin area but this moisturiser also diminishes the appearance of them. The results are instant and ongoing once I started to use this. \n\nI was a bride some 23 years ago but if I was a bride-to-be I could easily recommend using this for my wedding day for myself because it controls oil so well, smooths the skin, provides a great base for make-up and diminishes spots by controlling the oil. Just a little tip there for brides-to-be who may suffer from oily combination and/or blemish-prone skin. \n

Oily, but dry in places, I could never find something to fit my skin.Ive tried all sorts of lotions and potions since, from everything in boots, to Estee Lauder and beyond After I had spent a lot, persisted with no results and being generally fed up, I saw Bioderma who seemed to have something for all different types of skin. I decided to give this and the enlarge poor corrector a whirl. Fragrance

I really wanted to love this. I have oily, acne prone skin, but this product really doesn't do anything in terms of mattifying, shine control, or smoothing out the appearance of pores. I didn't notice a difference in redness either. As a moisturiser it's fine, has a nice consistency that spreads well and is absorbed easily. It feels fine on the skin, I don't think it would clog my pores at all. But my biggest problem with it and why I can't even use it anymore is the fragrance. It is SO intense. I can deal with a little light fragrance (though I prefer zero, much better for the skin), but this is overpowering. Its VERY artificial, pungent, floral, and it stays all day. It irritates my throat and I end up sneezing from how strong it is. I've attempted to use this ... MoreI really wanted to love this. If you have sensitive skin or are sensitive to fragrances, I would steer clear of this one.

It works!

I've dealt with oily skin, especially around my nose, all my life. I began using an oil absorbing translucent powder in middle school to help with my shininess. Since then, I have used a number of different products, including rice paper, for oil control. Sebium mat control is my new favorite product! It's quick, easy to use, and effective. I put a small amount on my nose and forehead, and it works immediately. Now, when I wipe the sides of my nose, I don't get oily fingertips! I definitely plan to incorporate this product into my daily makeup routine as suggested by the manufacturer.
