I've never had a pair of Birkenstocks before. I love the big buckle design. Who knew the box has lots of information - how to measure your foot, and that most styles come in narrow or regular widths. Well, these happen to be narrow, so that worked - I wear between a 7 - 71/2 and these are 38's. Fit is perfect. I also love the soles are white and not a darker color, gives them a more "light" feel. Haven't seen anyone else with these particular sandals yet!

I got these as I have narrow feet and love the large buckle. I had been eyeing the double buckle but thought they might be too clunky for my foot. I love the big buckle and decided to go for a different look and so glad that I did. These are extremely comfortable, versatile, and look great with shorts, pants or skirts. I wear them almost everyday and they are comfortable all day long.

I started wearing Birkenstocks a few years ago after I developed a super fun case of plantar fasciitis. They’re not my style, but I live in Florida, and so I need sandals. These are freaking amazing! Not only are they ridiculously comfortable, but they are so darn cute. I was just in some super cute stores in Disney springs and many of them had these shoes for sale. If you’re considering it, just buy them. Just remember, Birkenstocks run a little big.

I've had these cognac leather Birkenstocks on my wish list for a year, and I was so happy to purchase them when they came back in stock! I love the look of the gold buckle, and I receive a lot of compliments on them. A lot of reviews say that the large buckle is painful, but I did not have that experience. I have walked for several miles at a time downtown with no problem. My only hang-up was the sizing, which was a little off for me. I have another pair of Madrids in Silver Birko-Flor in size 39B that I bought in 2015 that fit very well. I initially ordered these in size 39B also. Although the outsoles of the two pairs of shoes match, these seem to have less room inside. That issue aside, I am very happy with them!
Im not sure I kept these- I found my first pair of Birkenstock sandals to be uncomfortable but everyone raves about them, so I decided to try a second pair. They are very cute, but I don’t think they are comfortable. I have them on the tightest setting, so once they stretch I won’t be able to wear them, I also worry about them getting dirty because the top is fabric. Probably will become expensive slippers!!! So sad- i really wanted to love them!
I am a 7 or a 7.5 in shoes & sandals depending on the style. These were too large, left about an inch of space in the back of my foot and did not fit in the sole well. I had to cinch the leather to the smallest notch and still my foot was not held in a comfortable fit. I am returning, sizing down to a 6.5 hoping that will fit well. I did not wear them long enough to define walking comfort. I normally do not like Birkenstocks because I like my feet to look feminine and the double strap makes my feet look too blocky and large, for a petite 5"2" girl I do not like that style at all but this one strap style looks really cute and feminine and compliments my feet well. I am willing to give them a try. I hope the 6 will fit better.
I really REALLY wanted to love these sandals! I ordered the black ones, they’re super cute, and I would have worn them a lot this summer. I normally wear size 8, so I ordered 7-1/2N which was the right fit. However, this is the 2nd pair/style of Birks that I’ve tried, and they’re not quite right for my foot; I have a high instep (one side rubbed my foot and probably would have blistered) and apparently weird toes for the footbed. The sandals might have been comfortable after breaking them in, but at that price—it’s a chance not worth taking. So I returned them.
I decided to ignore all reviews since they were mostly discussing comfort and I didn't find these incredibly uncomfortable in the store. Although, they do take breaking in. But I'm very loyal to Birkenstock, and have had one pair with 0 complaints for 5+ years. I bought these 2 months ago and the "leather" is already ripping on my buckle in a very visible spot. Mind you, haven't worn these in the rain and I take very good care of them - no scuffs have happened. They've been worn a decent amount, but not enough to warrant breaking after 2 months. Might be the last time I waste money on Birks as the quality of this shoe does not equate to the price tag.
Hands down, these are my new favorite sandals of the summer! I’ve been looking for a dark tan brown sandal (coveted the Hermes $1000 ones) and after deep diving editor’s lists, mags, IG, I opted for the Birkenstock’s Madrid Big Buckle Slide! I adore them and I’m complimented every time I wear them— numerous times. Gone is the stigma of Birks being for “granola crunchers” or hippies. Gwyneth Paltrow to SJP are sporting these soon to be icons! Now, if I can just find them in black!
I purchased the cognac Madrid Big Buckle as my first pair of Birks. The pros: beautiful color and style - very stylish sandal. The cons: On Nordstrom's website it says this sandal is a "B" width, which in US sizes is normally a medium width. But Birks have two widths - Regular (C/D width, indicated by an icon showing an unfilled foot outline) and Narrow (A/B width, indicated by an icon showing a filled-in foot outline). This style is only offered in Narrow (A/B) but it shows as just "B" on Nordstrom's website. The good news is that the strap is adjustable. The bad news is that, for me, as I have longer toes, my 3 outside toes on each foot are pressing up against or overflowing the molded foot bed edge, which is super annoying and makes me disinclined to wear ... MoreI purchased the cognac Madrid Big Buckle as my first pair of Birks. The pros: beautiful color and style - very stylish sandal. The cons: On Nordstrom's website it says this sandal is a "B" width, which in US sizes is normally a medium width. The bad news is that, for me, as I have longer toes, my 3 outside toes on each foot are pressing up against or overflowing the molded foot bed edge, which is super annoying and makes me disinclined to wear these any time I need to walk a long distance.By strict measurement, my size is a 7.5 but I always purchase an 8 in any shoe to accommodate needing just a bit more room for my toes. I think a 9 in this style would leave way too much room at the back of my foot and the strap may not be able to be tightened enough to keep it on my feet.I don't know if a wider foot bed would help, and because this style is only offered in the Narrow (A/B) at Nordstrom or on Birk's website, I can't try a wider shoe in this style to see if it would fit better.Bottom line: I am keeping this pair but only wearing it when I know I am not going to do a lot of walking because having my toes butting up against the molded edge of the foot bed will drive me insane. I was looking at buying two more colors (Mars Red and Old Rose), but am not now because of the sizing issue.
