Black Pelikan Souverän M805 Fountain Pen - Medium

(68 reviews)

The Pelikan M805 fountain pen is the second largest pen in Pelikan’s Souveran range and although not the biggest, it is still a large pen. The M805 is a large and weighty, luxury fountain pen pen which features an 18 carat gold nib with full rhodium plating. The M805 has a partial brass internal mechanism, giving it a substantial weight. The metal trim of the pen is palladium plated. The pen is made from high quality resin, which has a deep sheen and is strong and lightweight. There is a small section around 1cm (1/2 inch) on the barrel of the pen which is transparent and tinted dark green which allows you to see how much ink is remaining in the pen. When filled, this ‘ink view window’ becomes obscured by the ink inside and therefore invisible (shown above empty of ink) The gift box included is also pictured and has a removable lid and an ivory coloured faux leather pouch for protecting the pen when being stored or carried. The pouch can take one or two pens.

High craftsmanship pen and after smoothly using the piston filler charged the pen with ink and a quick purge of any air the pen instantly was able to apply in to paper very smoothly, don’t think it will take long to break in the gold nib to my writing style. An expensive pen but top quality costs money. I am also please with the colour which a computer screen can’t convey.

I am very happy with my purchase. It arrived really quickly and the pen is really something else. I chose to go down a nib size as I had heard Pelikan nibs run wide and that was a good choice. They pen is perfectly weighted with a big beautiful buttery smooth nib. The grey pinstriped barrel is stunning and understated. I am absolutely stoked with this Pelikan fountain pen.

I bought a M805 Stresemann with EF nib from the previous drop.I can give only three stars to this transaction. The overll process of transaction was smooth and I've got my delivery without significant delay, so I could give 5 stars for the transaction. But the problem is the quality of fountain pen itself. When I first tried to use the pen, ink flow was so terrible that I cannot use it for regular writing at all. I experienced frequent skips all the time. So I cleaned the nib throughly using detergent and warm water again and again, but nothing's changed. I tried several different types of ink such as Pilot Iroshizuku, Pelikan 4001 and Edelstein, Parker, Mont Blanc, etc. but no significant improvement.Fortunately, I could find a 3rd party fountain pen ... MoreI bought a M805 Stresemann with EF nib from the previous drop.I can give only three stars to this transaction. Now the fountain pen is working properly.

A Perfect Pen among many perfect Pens

Perfect delivery and the pen itself is exquisite. The really amazing thing is how fast it arrived from Madrid to USA. Bravo Iguana Sell!

Beautiful Pen
28 October 2021

This is my first Pelikan pen. I’m not disappointed. It is a beautiful pen and it is a smooth writer. It fills easily via piston. I have collected pens for many years and I own both the MB 149 and 146. This pen is right up there with them.

Great pen which arrived safely
4 November 2022

This pen is great for writing. Smooth and comfortable. My previous Pelikan which was over 20 years old had broken and I was keen to get the exact same specification.

High quality pen, nice color and metal combination
16 April 2021

Very nice fountain pen. 800 series is a nice size on the larger side without being too big. Writes a bit wet compared to some of my older Pelican pens, especially for a fine nib pen - almost writes like a medium nib; also the nib is not quite as smooth writing as some of the older Pelicans. Will see if it breaks in to be one of my favorites or not.

Just Short of 5 Stars
1 January 2023

I wanted to love this pen; and to some extent, it is everything I thought it would be! Aesthetically beautiful, great quality, writes like butter with little feedback, ink flow a little on the wetter side — which for me is a good thing and with NO skipping. So, why is it short? The fine point nib that I ordered writes more like a strong medium nib, and because it writes like butter, I have to train myself to control the pen differently to ensure the type of penmanship I normally produce with a fine point fountain pen.Is it worth it? Hard to say—to each their own. I am happy to have the pen as part of my collection, but I don’t see myself burying another Pelikan at this price range. As for the company web experience, purchase and follow up — 5 stars!!

My treasure

This pen is just so beautiful to both see and hold! It’s a pleasure to deal with Iguana Sell. I’m looking forward to buying my next Pelikan from Iguana Sell. Thank you so much.

Pelikan Souverän M805
4 December 2020

My new favorite Pelikan. The size is better in my hand than my M1000. The nib is the smoothest of any Pelikan I have used (M200, M600, M605, M805, M1000). It is not as wet as the nib of the M1000 EF and writes a similar (slightly finer) line even though the M805 is a Fine. I like the heft, both posted and not. And the blue, black, and chrome together are modern, yet timeless -- and just plain yummy.
