The product works good as a dashcam. It has decent quality and resolution for front and rear cameras. The wireless works quite well. The installation was easy even if you are not a motor electrician. The only issue I have with it is its time setting. Although it is set to GPS time it is out by two hours. When I turn Daylight saving off it is off by an hour, but out by two if turned on. I contacted the manufacturer as this is a weird issue. Something I experienced was it drains the car battery if the car does not run in three days. This is with the setting enabled to place it in mode to detect the possible battery condition as too low. It could possibly be that because a Diesel have bigger batteries as standard it does not take this into account . However this is the ... MoreThe product works good as a dashcam. I've purchased two Blackvue DR550 2CH from Blackboxmycar many years ago. The Blackvue dash cams are one of the best and have been flawless. I recently replace one with the DR590x 2CH which has great features, clear picture night and day. I had some issues connecting it to the wifi but after talking more than once with customer service sorted it out. Blackboxmycar has excellent customer service. They are prompt and very helpful. They also have the best prices and quick shipping.Thank you Blackboxmycar.

Excellent picture quality, hyperactive event sensor
23 July 2020

TL/DR: Would recommend this camera to anyone who wants good quality but doesn't need all the bells and whistlesI purchased this camera over others based on Blackvue's reputation, and it does not disappoint. The picture quality is very good, and I have been impressed with how smooth the videos have been. It doesn't have cloud capability, but I have found that downloading the videos to my phone via the wi-fi is easy enough to not need it. I installed it using the Power Magic Pro, which was simple enough once I had the correct fuse tap, and it will record in parking mode for a couple days (depending on how much traffic you have going by).My only complaint is that the g-sensor is a little more sensitive than I would like. It's installed on a Mustang GT, and the stiff suspension means that even small bumps set it off. I have tried playing with the settings, but it doesn't seem to affect it much. This isn't a big deal, but the beeping does get annoying sometimes. All together, I really like this camera and I plan to get one for my other vehicles as well.

Great Service.
19 May 2022

I purchased the Blackvue DR590X-2CH to replace another that had a problem after several years of use. It’s not 4K like my last dash cam. But the picture quality is still amazing. I had the power wire from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment of my Ram already. So to remove my old dash cam and replace it with this dash cam and new dash cam wiring maybe took 15 minutes tops. Box My Car provided swift service which is important as I live in a high accident city. So I needed my dash cam as quickly as possible. So Black Box My Car came through as expected.

Loving it. My third BlackVue, Fourth DashCam from Blackboxmycar
6 October 2023

This is my third BlackVue DashCam. wanted a simple install and forget DashCam for the family car. Hardwired with kit. As usual, elected for the Low profile fuse taps with In-line fuses…. Sweet. Simple Wi-Fi access for recordings and control panel. Have come to find BlackVue handles the heat well. No skipping in the recordings. Highly recommend BlackVue. My other two are truck dashcams with external rear cameras. All highly reliable. You get what you pay for. And you will appreciate their presence when the time comes and you need their recordings.

Not quite perfect, but great for the money

The quality of video, size of the product (keeping it out of the visible way), the battery protection feature, ability to flip the image in firmware, and what's become the semi-standard of connecting via a temporary wifi hotspot all work very well. I'd recommend this camera to anyone who needs a 1080P double camera. Solid quality and solid product. There's a few features I wish they'd improve.1) The parking mode should have a "do not engage for X minutes" timer. If I have to get my kid out of the car after parking, I *always* return to a "there was a collision detected in parking mode!" warning (from opening and closing the kid's door after the car is off), making that warning almost meaningless for me. If there was a 2 minute delay (roughly) that I could set to ... MoreThe quality of video, size of the product (keeping it out of the visible way), the battery protection feature, ability to flip the image in firmware, and what's become the semi-standard of connecting via a temporary wifi hotspot all work very well. If there was a 2 minute delay (roughly) that I could set to allow for doors opening and closing, it'd be perfect.2) The volume of the speaker is really low even at its best. Hard to tell what it's saying when driving. I get it's a tiny speaker, but having the option to switch to meaningful beep tones / sequences might be better if the volume can't be improved?3) Wifi. It's nice that I can get the videos on my phone, but with a 256GB card in the camera, I can't reasonably download everything and have to be very judicious. I also can't easily download to my computer since I'd have to get my computer (in the house) to connect to the wifi hotspot the camera created. Or I'd have to physically remove the SD card, which is possible, but annoying. Better would be allowing the camera to join my home's wifi as a very basic file server (basic auth optional) which would be an almost trivial update. The gold standard would be to allow for an automated process of storage (separate from cloud, which I know you want to sell, but I don't want). EG: FTP or SFTP backup to a server when it connects to the home network.4) The other difficulty here is that the wifi is relatively slow. These are large files we're talking about, so skimming through them over a slow-ish wifi link has been difficult to find the actual incident. Having the fastest wifi chip / protocol would be awesome and I *think* not a big cost burden.

Provides Pece of Mind

I've been driving around with my DR590W for about a month now and I'm really quite pleased with it. I installed this myself on my 2017 Mustang Ecoboost using the Power Magic Pro (PMP) and the Essential BlackboxMyCar Install kit and it was very straightforward. There were lots of of videos/resources available for cable routing/fuse selection so no guessing on my part. Installation took about two hours. So far I've been pretty happy with the quality of the footage - when viewed on my computer monitor, it's fairly easy to read license plates/determine make/model for cars directly in front of the camera. However, due to the wide angle lens, there's a slight fisheye effect that distorts things on the sides of the footage. However, due to the wide angle lens, there's a slight fisheye effect that distorts things on the sides of the footage. I don't really see this being an issue.Parking mode works as expected - footage is saved based on motion or acceleration triggers. With the PMP set to 12V, the camera records for the 8-9 hours I'm at work without issue. The Android app works fairly well, with a couple of slight annoyances. To connect to the camera wifi (and transfer data), mobile data needs to be disabled on my phone. The app design is pretty intuitive, and it's pretty clear how to navigate through the menus, etc. The other problem I have is during video streaming - the video will buffer for a couple of seconds, then start to play, but stop after four seconds. I haven't been able to figure it out, but I can download the entire video segment without issue. The desktop viewer has more functionality than the phone app, but I found it far less intuitive to use (but there is good documentation on the blackvue website).Overall, this dash cam has met my needs. It provides me some amount of reassurance that I will have video evidence in the event of an accident or parking lot collision.Pros:- Built in Wifi allows for setting changes/video viewing without the need to remove the microSD card and find a computer- Good quality (in day time, straight ahead)- Parking mode (with PMP) protects against parking lot mishaps- Plenty of spare wire length for rear cameraCons:- Fisheye distortion on edges of footage- mobile viewer will buffer, then only play four seconds of footage (but everything can be dowloaded without issue)- desktop viewer has a learning curve (checking a filter removes that type of recording from the list)- Android version of app requires disabling mobile data to connect to wifi

Solid product that just works
15 June 2018

I have purchased this camera to replace a very old dashcam that served me well for many years. I was looking for a dual-channel HD cam. Among my criteria were: WiFi support, capacitor instead of a battery, good overall product quality, small form factor, no integrated screen and, optionally, the parking mode. I was also planning to get this camera installed properly, hiding the wires, hardwiring it etc. After a very serious research I found that DR590W-2CH appeared to have the most solid positive feedback and not too many extreme but constructive negative comments. So far the camera has met my expectations. I have installed it in my F-150, most of the parts went smoothly and by-the-book. So far the camera has met my expectations. I have installed it in my F-150, most of the parts went smoothly and by-the-book. Video quality is amazing, but considering what sort of cam I had before I expected a big difference. Night video quality is acceptable, although I did expect a bit more from that famous Sony sensor. Mobile application is quite usable, although the file transfer from the camera to the phone is very slow, in my opinion. The most annoying thing I find with this camera is the fact that it erases the memory card when you change a single setting. As a software engineer I am sure this is an overkill and could be avoided. At the same time, there are not that many settings to play with and once satisfied with them, I think there will be no reason to change them again. One thing I wish they could do better is to design some sort of test mode where the new owner could test the sensitivity, parking mode etc. Some sort of configuration wizard probably.Another concern I had was about the installation of the rear camera and the length of the supplied cable. At the end, F-150 crew cab is pretty large. Luckily, the cable was so long that you could wire a small bus, not just a small truck :)Another thing I would suggest is to power up the cameras (both) before attaching them to the windshield and rear window, connect them to the mobile app and test various positions. I saw a couple of installa...
