The Blink Outdoor Battery Powered 1080p Security Camera is a wire free camera with floodlights. Setup required that the camera be charged before connection to the floodlight base which contains 4 D cell batteries. Blink claims that the unit gets up to 2 years battery life with the included batteries. The other battery powered security cameras (2 brands) I use require that I get out a ladder, unmount them, recharge them, climb the ladder to remount them about every 2 months depending on the activity. The other battery powered security cameras (2 brands) I use require that I get out a ladder, unmount them, recharge them, climb the ladder to remount them about every 2 months depending on the activity. Any amount significantly longer than my current cameras would be great, but two years would seem miraculous. There is a slide in mount on the base of the floodlight/battery unit. Mounting screws and anchors are included. There is also a drill free mounting plate that works with siding products. While setup was not difficult, I didn't find a clear instruction that stated that the camera snaps into the floodlight base. I kept looking for an adapter and trying to screw it in. I was also a bit confused connecting the camera to the included sync unit. The sync unit connects to your network and then to the camera. To me it seemed that the instructions wanted to connect to my home network again while it really wanted to connect to the camera. After my minor setup confusion, I found that the camera performs great as does the app. The camera covers my entire front courtyard and detects motion much faster than my current camera or my past camera. My current and past cameras usually do not activate until someone has entered the courtyard, placed the package near the door and is almost out the gate. My current camera often only records a video of the backside of a person exiting the gate. I love the "person" setting that only records when a person is detected. One of my current cameras has this feature but it rarely records anything when on this setting even when I know people have been present. While I do miss the recordings of the birds and animals that visit, I do not miss the recordings of plants swaying in the breeze that my current cameras get. The "person" detection in this Blink camera works as it should! The Blink camera captures almost the entire visit. This camera records at 1080p, half the stated resolution of my current camera yet has a clearer image in daylight, night vision and with the spotlights on. The camera has wider field of view than my current camera. Another great thing about this camera is that the notifications are almost instantaneous, and I am able to view the new recording very quickly. My current camera often takes a couple of minutes to allow me to see the new recording. The included sync unit connects up to 10 cameras to the system and has a USB port that allows local storage of the recordings to a user supplied thumb drive. There is a trial of their cloud storage program included. There is a live view option for those times that you just feel the need to have a look. While this camera is pretty new to me, it is a great improvement over my current camera systems. The imaging is better, the notifications are faster, it is quicker to allow viewing and hopefully the battery life is somewhere near what is advertised. I haven't yet tried out the cameras functions with Alexa or the audio functions but those two things should only make a great camera better.

This is a very high quality security camera and floodlight system. If you have an existing Blink security system, you merely add this light and camera to that system via your Sync Module. If this is your initial Blink install, you would need to get a Blink Sync Module that supports this security camera/floodlight system and connects to your WiFi access point. The Sync module also allows you to add additional cameras and other devices into a connected system and provides local storage if you wish via a USB port.I was impressed that Blink has built the intelligence into their products so that installation is sort of magical. Once you have the Blink cell phone app installed, you will then setup your Sync Module, which is connected to an outlet for continuous power and then connects to your WiFi access point. I have had similar hub-like items and it is best to put it in a centralized location relative to your security lights and cameras. The app finds the module and walks you through the easy setup. This particular light and camera combination is totally battery powered. Batteries were included and the specifications indicate the batteries will last up to 2 years. I attached the camera to the system next and it was easy, just hit ‘add device’ in the app and it finds and installs the camera. You do need to attach the camera to the light physically and via a cable. The app provided details on how to connect the camera physically to the light and also attaching a short cable that integrates the light with the camera. Since they are battery powered you can install them any where you like without the need for External power or power cables.I found the operation of the camera and light to be very comprehensive. The app provided a better range of controls than my other similar systems. One feature I found important that my prior system didn’t have was the ability to reduce the intensity of the LED lights. Another feature for the camera was to adjust the IR intensity for night viewing; these are not variables you find in many other security systems. When you set the motion parameters for the lights, be aware that you need to set the system to enable for the motion to turn the lights on. I liked the ability to set the duration of the lights-on cycle; and also the people recognition ability of the camera. The images on the cell phone were crystal clear. Outdoor camera temperature range is -4° to 113°. Therefore, I would not suggest mounting the camera in direct sunlight. I did check that if power is disrupted to the Sync Module and then restored, the system will automatically reconnect to WiFi and all devices come back on line without intervention. There are some subscription plans available for online storage, however you can elect for local storage at no cost. You can also use this system with Alexa. I plan to add additional cameras to the system and another light in the back of the house. I am very pleased with the ease of install and the high quality. I do highly recommend this Blink Security system.

I have the Blink doorbell and four of the minis (indoor plug-in camers), as well as a yearly Blink subscription plan already in place. I have Echo Shows in our house and the Blink and Amazon Alexa apps on my iPhones and iPads. I had no problems with pairing it and adding it to my Blink system via the app; I had it up and running to test it out within minutes. The motion detection is good, which is what I expected because I've experienced good motion detection in the past with my other Blink products. The floodlights are very bright when activated (either from detecting motion, or you can also manually turn them on yourself via the Blink app), and I like that you can adjust the angles of the lights individually into almost infinite positions, and you can also adjust the camera angles as well. And the resulting videos are very clear and crisp. As per my Blink doorbell which is also run on batteries, there is no continuous/long-term live feed--so when you want to check on anything going on and you turn on the live feed, it will only last about ten seconds before it will prompt you to click on a "Continue?" button, and if you don't click it the live feed will automatically stop about five seconds after that (you just have to keep on hitting that "continue?" prompt over and over if you want to see the live video feed any longer). I've found that only with my wired Blink cameras can I watch a continous live feed for more substantial periods of time (such as when I check on our pets at home during the day when they're alone). There's nothing in the settings to change the battery-operated Blink cameras to continuously show a live feed for longer. All in all, you can't beat the price of Blink products across the board, including this one, for the value they provide. This Floodlight/Camera combo works very well and integrates seamlessly with other Blink security products and Alexa-enabled devices.

Once you have linked everything to the app, then you can locate the perfect place to install you camera and spotlight combo. There are a number of settings in the app that you can play with to fine tune how your Blink camera operates and I am sure I haven't gone through all of them, but I am satified that my system works the way I want it to. I have set various times that my Blink camera will disarm and times it will rearm, based mainly on when my family is most active in that area. This prevents it from recording videos when not needed and I am sure it will save on battery usage. The Bling camera claims up to 2 years on the included batteries, but like anything else, that is based on usage. The Blink sync module, actually came with its own power adapter. This is one of the very few devices I have gotten lately that actuall includes this plug. I think that is a nice touch. Video quality is very good. Trigger time is exceptional and the range is also very good. Overall, the camera does what it says it does and wasn't too stressful getting it going.
This setup is a component system. Besides the floodlight and camera there's a Sync Module included that wirelessly connects the floodlight/camera to your Wi-Fi.The setup guide instructs to download the Blink Home Monitor app to setup the system, but I highly recommend going to Blink online first to read about how to setup and install components. That will give you a better understanding of the components' installation, operation, and how they work together. They are both battery powered (not rechargeable) and are easily removed from the installation base when battery replacement is needed. The sync module must be plugged into a household outlet within Wi-Fi range and within 100 feet of the floodlight/camera.This is a very nice system with 1080p video quality and bright LED floodlights. You can set up zones, sensitivity, recording times, motion activated notifications, video recording retention times, and more. A 28-day free trial period subscription to the Blink Plus Plan is included. It's their premium plan that gives you access to Cloud storage, 60-day unlimited video history, live view recording, photo capture, video sharing and more. However, you can save video locally to a USB storage drive (storage drive not included) plugged into the Sync Module without having to subscribe to a plan. The Blink Basic plan covers one device for $3 a month and the Plus plan is $10 a month to cover unlimited devices. If you're only using this single camera system, I think the $3 plan is worth it.The app used to control the system is very user friendly. It's easy to understand and navigate and makes it easy to customize your setup and navigate and review recorded videos. The video quality is outstanding both in daylight and at night. I've got several different security camera setups throughout my house, garage and yard and this one is by far the best in terms of flawless operation of the integrated system and app (no crashes, no video unavailable, no other glitches) and user interface. I highly recommend it.
I was excited when I found out about a wireless solution for a camera/floodlight combo. Enter the Blink - Outdoor 4 Battery-Powered 1080p Security Camera with Floodlight (Amazon is the parent company of Blink) The packaging is excellent, then it was kind of downhill from there. I ended up going onto Youtube to figure out how to attach the camera. You press it as hard as you can into place until it clicks. The instructions only needed to include that one sentence, but here we are. A wireless camera and floodlight, you would think it would include lithium batteries or maybe a little solar panel. (Especially for the price) The floodlight actually comes with four D size Duracell batteries, but wait there's more! The camera includes two double A Energizer batteries. Again, this is just laziness on Amazon's part. I don't know how the battery life is, because they're SIZE D BATTERIES. The floodlights are LED and adjustable and look awful.Pros: The video and picture quality are excellent on my phone. This product included a trail for 30 days to be able to save videos. After that trial is up basic plan is $3 a month for one device or $10 a month for unlimited videos that can be uploaded the cloud. You do NOT need a subscription plan for live view, motion alerts and two way audio.

From someone who has run wire and created "shelters" for non-outdoor cameras, it's almost too easy these days! Blink is just one brand that has flexible camera options for indoors and outdoors along with modules like a floodlight or Sync Module for local storage. Here, we're talking about the Blink Floodlight Camera that comes with a Blink Outdoor 4 camera and mount with two LED floodlights.Overall build=================================This is plastic, but they all are these days. It's hard and sturdy and I don't have any doubt that it would last awhile. I do wish it was white like the Ring cameras since powerful direct sunlight in the summer would really get this thing (and the internal batteries - 4x D cells) hot! The LEDs can pivot independently and the camera in the center can tilt anywhere you like as well. There's a mounting plate on the back that can slide off and allow you to mount it where you need first, then simply slide and "click" on the entire floodlight + camera module.Setting it up was pretty easy considering I was new to the Blink ecosystem. I started with a Sync Module 2 (sold separately) and the Blink App for Android. I opened up the app, created an account, and was prompted to link my Alexa account (so I can easily see the cameras on my Alexa devices). I then added the Sync Module 2 via QR code. Now that the Sync Module 2 could connect to my Wi-Fi network, it was time to add the Floodlight and camera. You can start this setup by choosing to add a Floodlight in the app, but you'll get to a point where you need to add the camera. So you can add the camera first, if you want. Either way, you'll open the back cover of the Floodlight and remove the plastic that's keeping the 4x D batteries from wasting energy. Replace the battery cover and back plate.Next, I set up the camera by removing the rear panel (large screw you can use your fingernail with or a coin), inserting the included AA batteries, and scanning the QR code.Once the camera was setup, I snapped it onto the Floodlight mounting arm, and took it out to the balcony to test next to my existing Ring Floodlight.I removed the mounting plate and connected it to the balcony's bars (like my Ring), snapped the whole Floodlight unit back on, and verified it was working and connected to my Wi-Fi.Performance=================================It was still daylight so the camera quality looked good, but I did notice that the field of view was quite a bit less than my Ring (see pics). Color and quality were great, and the app included all the basic features you'd expect regarding notifications, motion zones, night vision sensitivity, and more. Similar to the Ring app, once you open the app, your cameras are right there on the home screen so it's easy to get to the one you need quickly.I wanted to wait until it got darker to do more testing and proceeded to take another picture comparing Ring's night vision to Blink's. I think both were just fine, but I did enjoy Ring's wider field of vision specifically to watch a larger area. If you needed this in a narrower area (side of house, etc.), then the Ring might be just fine. The super-easy setup and flexible mounting options (all battery powered) make this easy to put up almost anywhere. By contrast, my Ring camera is wired and must be plugged in. One notable advantage the Ring has are the LEDs - 2000 lumens vs 700 lumens. This makes a big difference when it's mounted on a 2nd story and looking down into a large yard. I could tell the difference immediately! If this was mounted lower (let's say 8-10 feet off the ground), it might not make that much of a difference. At that point, they're still both bright enough at night be be annoying to a trespasser and illuminate the area.Regarding the mounting height, it's so easy to remove the Floodlight from the mounting plate (push down one tab, slide off), that you'll definitely want to mount it outside of most people's jumping range. Conclusion=================================Overall this is a great, flexible outdoor camera with some great video/photo quality as well! It's affordable and works great with Alexa. Unfortunately for me, I didn't like the narrower field of view and I am "all in" on Ring so this may go to the side of the house since it's almost perfect for that. For those that are in the Blink ecosystem or looking for a new surveillance setup, I think this Blink Outdoor Floodlight is a great option. I also really like the idea of the Sync Module 2 (sold separately) that allows you to store local video on a USB flash drive.
Purchased 12/22/23 after ordering two privacy screens to fit 2 new IPhone 15 Plus phones from Spectrum. After ordering the screens we asked to be shown an outside camera with lights and to be run off battery, not to have to hard wired. We ended up purchasing the Blink Camera that day. We tried to get it up and running and several phone calls to Blink. Finally after weeks of blaming our internet carrier and 5 weeks later they. Admitted We had a bad camera, so they sent out a new camera and it took 6 days to get camera. On 12/26/23 we returns to Best Buy to get phone privacy screens, had them install them. We tried to locate guy we dealt with over camera. But he was not there so we we spoke with another guy on cameras for outside, set of 4 I believe but could be used inside also, so we purchased them, again nothing but issues and still have No Cameras operating. During this period of time whoever has hacked/and broke into our home enough. To get over $ 20,000 dollars of items from our home. We have more items to arrive Ties th 13th and either this takes care of all camera issues or they will getting returned . It has left us in a very serious way, no cameras yet working.
Outdoor security systems are a bit of a touchy subject for me. I have purchased and installed three different systems before finally trying the Blink system. I think I may have finally found the one. While my previous security systems have had SO MANY hiccups and issues, I was hesitant to even try a different system. My good friends told me to try Blink. They have an entire Blink system installed at their vacation home and have raved about how dependable it has been. Fast forward to today, and I am happy to report that they were correct. No more waiting and waiting and waiting to get a signal feed through the app. No more having to constantly login into the app to even see the signal feed which is incredibly horrible for a security system. No more recharging the batteries in my cameras every few weeks, which is a massive hassle. So far, it seems as though Blink was able to remedy every gripe I have had with the other systems. The app loads quickly and the live feed is available at a fraction of the time of my previous systems. Huge bonus considering you really want fast access to what is happening outside. I have my Android phone notifications set to notify me of movement on both my phone and my watch, and it has worked quickly and flawlessly so far. This floodlight is installed just under the overhang pointing at my garage entry keypad. Browsing clips that are saved in your library is easy and quick as well. The whole app experience is very user friendly and finding what you need is a breeze. Which leads me to the Sync Module. My absolute favorite feature of the Blink system is the Sync Module (sold separately) which allows you to store your clips on a USB drive (sold separately) locally instead of paying a monthly cloud fee. AWESOME and thank you Blink! That said, if you don’t want to fuss with setting that up (which is easy) you can always use the cloud service to store and view your saved video clips. The video quality has been excellent so far, and I am able to clearly see what I need to see when reviewing saved clips. The custom "no zones" are also very useful, as they allow the user to select only certain parts of the scene that the camera sees and triggers to record saved clips.I have not had the system long enough to know if the batteries will last up to two years, but I do feel confident that they will last WAY longer than the system I am replacing.Another great thing about the Blink system is that it is relatively affordable and easy to upgrade if you want to add more cameras at any time. The floodlight seems bright enough for the immediate area, but not on par with a standard floodlight by any means. I am sure this is also to help with battery life. While the system is not perfect, it can be improved with a few minor changes. The camera mounts are my biggest complaint. They are flimsy and delicate. The cameras literally snap into a round, thin piece of plastic, which makes it seem like the cameras are not as secure as they could be. I would like to see the mounts updated with some type of weatherproof screw that can be tightened by hand, and for the plastic to be made thicker. This would make the mounts more secure and less likely to break. It would also make them more weatherproof, which would be important in areas with a lot of rain or snow. There is also nothing stopping anyone from easily taking a camera, so updating the mounts to be more secure and anti-theft is my #1 recommendation for the next version.I can highly recommend the Blink system for anyone needing an affordable home security solution.
The Blink Outdoor 4 Floodlight Camera system is totally wireless and solves the problem of needing to hardwire components or be located near an electrical outlet. I initially wanted to install this on the front of my garage but my brick exterior put the task above my grade-level. I went online to the Blink website to review installation instructions and decided to install under the eave over my back deck where I had a pre-existing motion sensor floodlight but no camera. I currently use Blink cameras and the Blink Home Monitor App with a subscription to the Plus Plan to monitor them, so this addition to my system was very simple. This setup includes the mounting hardware, the mount with 2-700 lumen LED lights, the Blink Outdoor 4 add-on camera, the sync module 2 ... MoreThe Blink Outdoor 4 Floodlight Camera system is totally wireless and solves the problem of needing to hardwire components or be located near an electrical outlet. This setup includes the mounting hardware, the mount with 2-700 lumen LED lights, the Blink Outdoor 4 add-on camera, the sync module 2 local video storage hub with USB cable and power adapter, and 4 size-D alkaline and 2-AA lithium batteries (not rechargeable but advertised to provide up to two years of battery life dependent on use). The sync module also requires a USB flash drive that is not included to store video if you do not purchase a Blink monitoring subscription (available through Amazon). I didn’t install the included sync module since I already had one in use.The mounting plate fit perfectly in the predrilled location of my previous floodlight and I used the screws that I removed instead of the ones that were included. I then checked to see how easily the mount attached-it slid and clicked in place with no issues. The floodlight seemed a bit heavy and it’s because the 4-D batteries come preinstalled. It slides off and on the mounting plate when you depress a very flimsy plastic tab. I really think given the weight of the floodlights-even before I attached the camera that it may not stand up to harsh weather conditions or even the passage of time. Even though this entire system is made of plastic the mounting plate could stand to be more reinforced. Also included is a shiny metallic-like vinyl siding hook for no-drill installation on a house with siding. I did not use this but it seemed a bit insubstantial as well. The back cover twists off allowing you access to the battery compartment and you push down the tabs to expose the batteries and then you can remove the plastic tab preventing the batteries from operating.Heads up-you have to add the camera to your Blink account before attaching it to the floodlight and mounting it or you will be taking it apart later to do so. With the Blink Home Monitor App installed I just had to tap the + symbol in the top right corner, select the device I was adding (which was the Outdoor 4 Floodlight Camera), and the app prompted me on how to set up the floodlight portion of the system. It then asked if the Blink Outdoor 4 camera included was already added to my account. It was not, so I clicked to add the camera. It prompted me to scan the QR code inside the battery compartment of the camera and then proceeded to walk me through the setup. The USB cover of the camera has to be off to allow you to connect it to the cord on the floodlight (save it because you need to replace it to keep the camera weather-resistant if you choose to use the camera separately at a later date). When you connect them, the floodlight automatically connects to the Blink App and all that is left is to snap the camera onto the swivel neck on the mount.I love that the lights move independently and can be pointed in different directions allowing you to illuminate whatever you need to. The camera also swivels so you can aim it more precisely. The 700 lumen LEDs are not as bright as the floodlight that I removed but after a bit of adjustment they also do not illuminate my neighbor’s windows when they are triggered (either manually via the app or by the motion-detection system). The video is extremely clear in the daytime and clear at night and the live feed loads quickly on the app. The two-way audio is clear despite occasional background static that I hear but cannot pinpoint the source of. The app is very user friendly and allows you to personalize the camera and lighting settings as well as the notifications that you receive. The system is affordable and a great option for installing where no external power source is available and eliminates the need to conceal unsightly cables. Blink offers many different components (cameras-both full-size and mini/indoor and outdoor, doorbell cameras, and floodlights) that can be easily added to your system. I would definitely recommend this floodlight system and the Blink line of devices for anyone looking for an affordable, easy to install and use home security set-up.
