Blue Lizard Kids Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+ 5oz Tube, Cream (F62450)

I love blue lizard so this is a hard review. Love that the cap changes color when exposed to UV rays, it’s a visible reminder that even in shade or cloudy days you’re still vulnerable to sun damage. This sunscreen performed terribly under wet and sweaty conditions. It looked as if it were beading up on the skin and would just wipe right off. It’s hydrating but still leaves a white cast unless you really work it in. Which is difficult with kids. I’d love to say it protected well but that’s hard to say considering it didn’t have staying power. FYI it was applied 30 minutes before sun exposure and I’d think that should be plenty of time to sink in. Definitely didn’t last the 80 minutes it promised. Will not repurchase.

@bluelizardsunscreen has some amazing products and I was lucky enough to try them with a group of friends thanks to @momsmeet All of the products we tried were 50+ SPF and mineral-based. The sheer lotion felt great going on and blended in effortlessly. I love that they are all fragrance-free products and save the reefs by excluding ingredients like oxybenzone and oxtinoxate. I think my favorite aspect of this product, though, is the fact that the kids bottle turns blue in the sun. This happens to alert you that you need to protect your skin from harmful rays, and when you bring the bottle back inside, it switches back to white! Totally brilliant!

Best sunscreen for the entire family!

I love this Blue Lizard Sunscreen with SPF 50+ for my children. My oldest are teenagers and my youngest is turning one soon, and this sunscreen is safe for all of them because it’s gentle enough for sensitive skin. I love that it helps protect endangered reefs by not including harmful ingredients. The squeeze bottle is easy to use and innovative, it’s made with a unique color changing cap, which turns from clear to bright blue in harmful uv light outdoors, indicating dangerous conditions and that sunscreen protection is needed. The texture is light and creamy, absorbing quickly without leaving a white cast on skin. The sunscreen is also waterproof and sweat proof for 80 minutes for additional peace of mind. Beware of octisalate!

Not sure why they’ve included octisalate in the kids formula? Their kids spray and stick only contain zinc or titanium so I wasn’t aware that this would contain this chemical that is not good for your babies or coral reefs despite the “reef safe” label. Stick with their other formulas with only zinc or titanium! I would recommend their sensitive formula version instead of this one if looking for a cream or their kids spray or stick sunscreen which don’t contain the unnecessary chemicals.

Blue Lizard Sunscreen

I have been using Blue Lizard for the past 15 years and it is the most effective sunscreen when kids are swimming all day. It is water resistant up to 80 minutes and is very easy to reapply. The cap has a convenient UV indicator to, when exposed, show the intensity of the sun. It is the best sunscreen for both children and adults.

Great product for kids! Goes on easy without oily residue. Does what it supposed to do to prevent sun damage and burning. Very happy with this product. If only blue lizard figured out a way to help me get it on my 4 yo kid without him throwing a tantrum, they would billionaires! Until then, mom will keep reapplying to keep her children’s skin, safe!

Caused a rash

This sunscreen caused my 2 year old to break out in a rash all over his face, back, neck and ears. He’s never reacted to anything else in this way. His right ear lobe turned a purple/red color. I will definitely not purchase this for my kids again. If you want to try it, definitely test on a small patch before using it all over your little one’s body!

Works for sensitive skin!

My child has eczema and most sunscreens irritate his skin, plus they have all those harmful ingredients. After a long time spent researching, I finally decided on Blue Lizard and we love it! It doesn’t irritate his sensitive skin at all and my child likes the bottles that turn blue whenever you need to put more sunscreen on. The coverage was great, it blends in easily, it lasted quite awhile, and it has no scent. I definitely recommend this sunscreen for adults and kids!!!

We've tried so many sunblocks. My kids have sensitive skin and break out in sunburn like rashes with the chemical based sunscreens for older kids and adults. We've tried many brands of sunblock for kids, avoiding the cheap ones and ones that are made by companies that put too many chemicals in them. That being said, we have tried a couple of the more sensitive skin type kids brands. We often spend 8+ hours a day out on a boat. Anybody who boats knows you get the direct UV rays + the reflection of the sun off the water. Everyone burns who's not used to it.
