A Luddite at heart, the Node represents my first and only experience with a streaming source. I chose this unit on the advice of Christopher Landfield. It was advice I'm glad that I heeded, as my wife and I love the Node. In sum, great salesman, great piece of equipment, great satisfaction.

This was a great solution to my particular use cases. I have several systems throughout my home, but only have ethernet cable in one room. I use Roon for streaming, want a lossless signal, and want to listen to my Focal Stellias throughout the house. One of my systems (based around a Hegel H-300 amp) does not have a headphone jack, but does have a built-in DAC. So, I bought two Bluesound Nodes: The first one allows me to listen to my Focals in my bedroom using Roon and Wi-fi. The second one pairs with the Hegel, allowing me both headphone access and wi-fi Roon through the Hegel's DAC. Is the sound as pristine as my main systems? No, but it's pretty darn close...much better than should be expected at this price - the build quality and finish is excellent as well. For the price this streamer is a diamond in the ruff excellent sounding, great dac and Bluetooth for pairing wireless headphones. App is easy to use and access to Amazon music is simple. Highly recommended
I replaced a Node 2 with the new Node, so my review is a comparison of the 2 models. I subscribe to Qobuz and Jazz radio.com and all my music source are from these 2 services.At first, the improvements in the Node vs Node 2 seemed subtle with greater clarity and definition in the midrange and highs. After a few days of listening, I also noticed a wider and deeper soundstage. Highs, especially chimes and cymbals had greater shimmer and dynamics. The Node 2 is still a great streamer, but if you enjoy listening to the latest upgrades in your equipment, the new Node is worth obtaining.
This is my second Bluesound node for a second system. I have used other streaming devices that were less expensive. The Bluesound Node is by far a better sounding streamer that is also well thought out. By this I mean the app is simple easy to use and works better than most others. You would need to double the price to find a better streaming device.
I wanted a modern "Pre-amp" to pair with a vintage power amplifier that could take advantage of HDMI e-arc connection to a TV. This is about the only affordable solution i could find. I get my glorious vintage VU meters and the use of a remote control. I can also add a turntable or another analog input.
It is really as good as all the reviews state! The only caveat is mine didn't wanted to configure, until I read in redit that it happened to a few more people and they recommended reseting to factory defaults. Then I got to configure it, but would only pair to 2.4GHz wifi, not to 5.0GHz. So I went and configured the 2.4GHz, and only then I was able to change the wifi and connect to 5GHz. After that, I have not experienced any problems at all, everything works fine.

Setup for the Node is pretty straight forward, so if you can connect your phone to Wi-Fi, so should have no problems getting the device up and running. You will need to download the app, which is also very easy as is connecting to your existing music service or choosing your first one. The Connections are easy to use though, having a second RCA connection set would be helpful. The sound from the Node is surprisingly well balanced, detailed, articulate and warm. The key to the Node's success is how it deviates from the very best streamer/DACs out there- it errs on the side of omission, and commits no insult to the music. It does not try to be exaggerated hifi with bombastic lows and/or sizzling highs, both of which can catch you initial attention but also which quickly becomes tiresome. The Node also allows you to grow as it has both coax and Toslink digital output (with USB output promised ay some point, but I would not hold my breath) so that if you have access to a high quality external DAC, the Node can grow in musical quality beyond its stock form. What remains is that this Streamer/DAC can fit very nicely into a 1960's vintage Marantz/AR/Thorens system (and the likes) as well as a modern high end system. People rave about the user interface- like anything it takes some getting used to, but it works well. I can't compare it to anything else aside from Audirvana (which I think is very good). And if Roon is important to you, the Node works in a Roon environment.
