I’ve had coffee makers, French presses before, but this is the best way to make coffee. First of all you feel so fancy, second the flavor is amazing, more distinct than most coffee makers. The price wasn’t bad at all for this wonderful piece. Would definitely recommend to all my coffee friends.

Stylish and elegant (if that matters to you), and makes some of the best tasting coffee I've had. I use a grind a little coarser than medium to fit in line with the included stainless filter and my strength preference. An electric kettle at 195F/90C seems to brew the best. The only qualm I have is that mine came with a black plastic and silicon strap grip, instead of the pictured cork & leather. In the long run, this is probably more durable & stain resistant. I'd buy another one for a gift without hesitation. To the people stating the filter drains the coffee too fast and puts too much grounds in the decanter, you need to use a coarser grind and pour slowly for proper pour over Chemex style makers. I opted for the largest version, 51oz, and enjoyed the results.Using a gooseneck electric water kettle will provide consistent results, pouring in circles to evenly hit your grounds and limit the chance of water running right through them.On the filter, According to javapresse.com,:"Designed to last forever, metal filters don’t produce any paper waste. They allow a small amount of micro-grounds into your brew, as well as the coffee’s natural oils. This results in a robust full-flavored and full-bodied flavor profile."With that in mind, if you don't want grounds in your coffee, you can still add a paper filter.TLDR: With good practice and preparation, this product produces a cup of coffee that takes longer to prepare and will have some grounds in it, all the ... MoreI opted for the largest version, 51oz, and enjoyed the results.Using a gooseneck electric water kettle will provide consistent results, pouring in circles to evenly hit your grounds and limit the chance of water running right through them.On the filter, According to javapresse.com,:"Designed to last forever, metal filters don’t produce any paper waste. This was a Christmas gift and I couldn’t be happier with the quality. If you’re looking for a simple, easy, smart way to make a great cup of coffee, this pour over coffee maker is the answer. The size is perfect for 4 The rubber grip is engineered perfectly. The stopper to retain heat is ingenious!
Pros firstI get a lot of compliments making coffee with this in the office. Lots of folks think it’s a slick design. With some modification (mostly adding a paper filter to the metal screen filter), it makes a good cup of coffee. The cork grip really protects your hands well. Now the consIt needs the addition of a paper filter to the metal screen filter. Without a paper filter, you will be chewing a fair amount of grounds in a weak cup of coffee. The metal filter alone does not keep the hot water in contact with the grounds long enough. You will need a bottle brush to wash this thing by hand. The hole into the larger vessel is baby-hand sized at best. I have a cheap bottle brush that scrubs out the inside as I don’t have a dishwasher.Being a big coffee drinker, I ... MorePros firstI get a lot of compliments making coffee with this in the office. I am not happy for the following reasons:1) The stainless steel filter is a complete bullshit. The water spills out of it like there are several holes, and it spills out too fast as well. It should drip at a single point downward, and slowly. No it is not the fault of the semi moulded coffee.. Replace this filter with a paper filter and you will immediately see the difference.I am not the only one to have observed that now, search on youtube for this product you will know what I am talking about.I am gutted that the creator of this product has overlooked that aspect2) The one that shipped to me had a black silicon strap around instead of the brown leather shown in the picture. This is not a value for money product at all.
Nope nope nope. I don’t understand how this makes a good cup of coffee unless you like VERY mild coffee. Tried all sorts of amounts of grounds and it just never tasted that great. Got a Mr. Coffee 4-in-1 cold/hot (i think only sold at Target) and now having the BEST cup of coffee every morning.
This wasn’t a quick decision for me. I was originally interested in purchasing a French press. But ended up deciding against it when I realized it would end up becoming a costly venture. For $20 I thought, what is the harm in trying the pour over? The filter basket allows me to keep my current coffee and I already own a kettle. Albeit it’s not the fancy long stemmed kind but it serves its purpose. I’ve used the pour over several times now and I couldn’t be happier. I add my grounds (Colombian, great value) to the filter and when my kettle sings I slowly “bloom” my grounds. You learn as you go, but it’s super easy to figure out. The carafe is dishwasher safe which is nice. The cork and binding are not but they are super easy to remove and put back on. I wipe them ... MoreThis wasn’t a quick decision for me. The carafe is dishwasher safe which is nice. The cork and binding are not but they are super easy to remove and put back on. I wipe them down with a lightly damp cloth when needed. I have ordered a round cork board to sit my carafe on as well as a 3 inch cork ball that is made for wine carafes. My goal for the cork ball is to use it as a cover to keep it hotter longer.Sometimes the best ideas are the most simple, and this pour over glass coffee maker gets 5 stars from me.Oh, and the filter basket is the easiest thing to clean. I use my sprayer on the sink and the grounds fall right out.Highly recommend this product. It will produce the best tasting coffee you have ever had.
As a former Chemex user and lover, I find this drip coffee maker less expensive but almost as good as the famed glass wonder of the 60s. It makes great coffee, free from the smelly milieu of those plug-in, keep-hot units (read burn!), and uses standard drip filters, whereas the special Chemex filters are rather pricey (yes, you can still buy a Chemex coffee maker)! I would definitely recommend this product to those who enjoy making their own drip coffee. I got the 8 cup model, with the cork and leather tie around the middle, which accommodates a size 4 filter. It's perfect for me, though there are options for both smaller and larger capacities that are of the same design and functionality. If you don't drip on the handle, it's very easy to clean, but if you do, you have to take the handle off to clean the middle area. You can't beat glass for retaining great coffee flavor and ease of cleaning. Just don't EVER put it on your stove!
The reusable filter was not as advertised. I had to buy paper filters to put inside. Defeating the reason for buying in the first place. The faux cork grip is fiddly and difficult get on and off and the holding toggle is always in the way - whatever way it's positioned. It looks good , but it's not practical. The glass feels too thin and like it won't survive a knock. I do not expect it to last very long. The pouring spout arrangement is badly designed - to spill everywhere, if you don't use this at the sink / draining board you'll have coffee stains / spills. This is not suitable for the table. In order to get coffee out of the bell bottom jar design, you have to tip the jug almost vertically upside down.
